    I have this one at home, works relatively well for small rooms. There's no timer though so you either need to remember to switch it off or use a smart plug.

      I think this will suit me fine, although I noticed that Vornado are releasing newer models with remotes and timers now.

      Of course you pay a premium for those features…

      I use this with a smart plug. Way too lazy to walk across rom to turn it on and off. Wish I could adjust the speed remotely too, if it's warmer at night than in the morning the fan makes me feel too cold by morning. "Siri, turn the fan off" is annoying because when I talk my brain takes that as a signal to wake up and not go to sleep.

        Same. I have the smart plug set to come on when I turn the main AC on to circulate the air better too. Works well.

          Yeah I guess I could check if it'll be cold in the morning and have it turn off sometime in the night. My thermometers in the house are "mi" branded so won't work to trigger HomeKit I don't think.

            @AustriaBargain: Can run a homebridge on computer or rPi. It simulates a HomeKit (bridge) and can ad things that way. I got too many different brands of smart devices. And this connects them to one. Sometime you need a gateway for specific brands. I got example one when entering garage from house it turns light on for 5 minutes. To put shoes on or look in freezer. Garage door opener and close (using SonOff) costed around $12 to set up if remember correctly. Basically a “relay they breaks the manual override to open/close garage”

    What the difference between the 633dc and the 660.

      Models with the 'dc' suffix are powered with DC (direct current), which has a few benefits including power efficiency and being much quieter. I believe there is also a much more granular control over speed/power with DC.

      The main reason I paid the premium for the DC model is because it will be in my home office so I want it to be quiet.

        Aside from the energy efficiency, the DC models also have the added advantage of being usable with a smart plug, since they have a physical knob that sets the speed and on/off state. When the smart plug restores power, the fan automatically resumes operation — this was not possible on my old non-DC Vornado.

        I don't feel like the DC model is actually any quieter — it does give more fine-grained ontrol of the fan speed though.

      DC has "infinite" adjustment so can fine tune your speed. I would assume the DC is also quieter than the 660 at low speeds. I have the DC and until about 1/3 up the dial you really can't hear anything.

      Not sure if it helps but I have this model, 2 years old now … I balked at the price back then but it really has lasted the distance and boy is it powerful. It's also a life saver in winter when drying clothes without a dryer can take forever. 1hr with this baby in a room and it's 50% drier.

    I have both the 633DC and the 660.

    633DC - Medium air circulator, quieter, more energy efficient, fine tune speed settings, works with smart plugs.

    660 - Large air circulator, shifts a bit more air, better build quality.

    I bought the 660 first and liked it enough to buy a second fan a few weeks later, being the 633DC. If I had to choose only one I'd get the 660 because the noise doesn't bother me, better build quality, shifts more air, and the cheaper upfront cost. Otherwise just buy 1 of each 🤷

    so im planning to put this in my garage (as i'm planning to put my solar inverter in there) but when its hot and humid, the whole garage is humid.

    does this blow the hot air around or does it somehow change the hot humid air to cool?
    i wouldn't want this to just be blowing around the hot air in the garage? lol

      This won't cool the air down, it's designed to shift air efficiently from one room (or outside) to another.

            @sumyungguy: oh gosh this reminds me of the time i bought a snow booter warmer from the states during my travel and then i brought it back to aus.
            thinking i just ned an adapter, it worked for like 10 seconds then blew up lol

            so i always thought it was universal with devices gosh but i think i needed some power inverter which is annoying..

              @prankster: @prankster @sumyungguy generally anything larger that uses a motor (fan, vacuum cleaner, washing machine) or a heating element (kettle, hairdryer, boot warmer) is designed for 110v 60Hz or 220v 50Hz and is not usually interchangeable.

              Almost every small electronics device (router, laptop, network switch) with an external power supply will support both voltages - little power supplies today are almost always "switch mode" supplies that don't care what you feed them.

      I managed to get a second hand one for $100. The blades are a lot thicker so they move significantly more air than a normal fan. It has a DC motor which is quiet on most settings. The speed setting is a knob rather than push buttons so much better granular control.

      No one has quite mentioned, these fans move air in a narrow column compared to a normal fan.

      Although they can be used as a normal fan, the idea is to have the fan pointed upwards at the ceiling. This way, they circulate air all around the room. I found it really does work.. you get a gentle breeze and air movement all around you without any chill or draughts.. can keep it on for hours without any discomfort. The DC models are great with their fine motor control and use stuff-all energy.

      Conventional fans generally try to avoid the draught problem by using a recirculating head, which is fine except you get
      blasted every 10 seconds.

      Even a small DC ceiling fan will move dramatically more air and will be much quieter. But a ceiling fan will be a lot more expensive once you pay for installation.
