Waiting for the Lenovo Go to hit our shores.

    • +1

Man the options just keep getting better!

Its what you'd think the next Switch would be, but no doubt Nintendo will under deliver everything and claim battery life or something.

      • You want a Switch that has the same power as one of these? How much do you think that will end up costing?

Waiting for the Ally to not destroy SD cards.

    • Did Asus have to under-clock the Ally to avoid this issue?

      • +1

Nope, they just run the fan at higher speeds. But better use your own fan curve coz I thought it was safe after they did that and run it on turbo plugged in and now my reader is toast. Sdcard still works though but planning to go back to jbhifi maybe a little later see if they do repair or replace as new revision R7 apparently fixed it.

The fan speed change will not and does not fix this issue.

The heat from the unit being moved directly over the SD card controller make it such that it's not an if your SD card reader will die, but a matter of WHEN.

Im skeptical the new revision changes this, the board topology is fundamentally flawed in its design and set up in such a way that a redesign is required to truly fix the issue.

Asus have taken months and released 4 or 5 bios updates and claimed its fixed every time before the community had to spell it out and tell people it's unfixable truly.

They are claiming it's fixed with some revision tweaks? I'm skeptical.

I've spoken to some people that have worked on the motherboard and they weren't happy with it before they released, and they likely knew there were going to be issues.

Don't hold out faith for a company like this.

          • @SmoothCactus: Yeah same, one of the reasons I’m holding out to get it fixed or replaced at JB. Trying to hold out and see if the lenovo go or whatever its called gets released or if Asus might actually managed to find a way to fix it. Hoping for the later because I had bought some accessories for it but oh well. Better cut my losses now if there’s no way forward.

            • @FuzzyWolf: If you can, go to JB and tell them how this cannot be fixed and then you are legally allowed to have a refund or exchange for something else.

Get a Lenovo then. It's an upgrade in every way, even with the accessories u got..

I recon the steam deck is a better investment they'll support it longer

    • +2

No direct gamepass on steam deck.

      • +1

I have a Steam Deck and this is a feature I sorely miss. Cloud streaming is really good but not the same.

  • I have this, if you did your research, know what you want, end up getting this instead of the steam deck… damn it is mighty fine.

  • +4

Don’t buy until a new hardware revision, SD card reader is cooked.

  • Good deal

  • uk version

  • Best Deal! Got with AU plug.
