Cant beat it for price in this size category! Quality set and I'm hoping I have a good experience with Sony Online, no delivery issues, fingers crossed!

      • Its lcd … Mini led… Not oled… Whats the difference?

        • +7

Its mini led so has great control of backlight to make it close to Oled in terms of black levels and contrast. OLED is great dont get me wrong but pricey, has longevity issues, and struggles with peak brightness unless you spend $5k or more for high end A95 Sony or Samsung S95, or LG G3 which has MLA tech to boost brightness.

Most other mini leds are aweful as it requires great algorithms to manage all the mini led zones. TCL for example has shocking control of the zones even though they advertise so many.

Sony has best processing and algorithms for backlight, period.

          • @Savvy shopper1111: Kd55a1 still rocking… Didn't know mini led is better

          • @Savvy shopper1111: There isn't a single OLED on the market that can compete with this mini led for brightness. The only way they try to pretend it can is when less than 10% of the screen's actually lit up, but if you look at "full scene" brightness it's not even close. Like 2x, 3x as bright.

In a sunny room, daytime viewing, or people that don't live in caves OLED really isn't an option. Speaking as a guy with a former top shelf Sony OLED who flogged it rather quickly.

            • @Ademos: So this is better than oled?

              • +4

@MeowMeowNiBBa: In daytime. Oled remains king at night time for most, but I found even then some content was too dim and personally am absolutely not on the oled worshipping train any more. Having spent a LOT at the time trying it out.

There's a legion of nerds that hemm and haww about color accuracy and how brightness is achkktually bad because its not how the director intended things etc etc. How you should actually be turning brightness down on an oled, etc
These people forget a few things.

A- directors are color grading on monitors that cost tens of thousands of dollars and get incredibly bright in their own right.

B- The average joe is going to think a tv that can make them wince from an absolute explosion of COLOUR, and not just white scenes, (Like an underwater scene from planet earth) is (profanity) AWESOME. Particularly when its in broad daylight, and not completely washed out, barely visible nonsense. Oled does not and cannot compare to the vibrancy of mini led through the sheer brightness range. Modern ones can come close to matching highlights across like 5 percent of the screen. Which is good news for shiny highlights on metal. Briefly. Not so much for any full screen bright scenes, that remain several TIMES dimmer.

C- That not everyone refers to sports as "sportsball", many of us can even tell you who Lewis Hamilton is, and we sometimes watch daytime content, particularly on weekends. With our blinds open. And people invited, people, Basil. Others.

Either way, go Sony. Their image processing in a world of average streaming, hd sport content, etc is king. They also do dolby vision where samsung dont. If you get a bravia, the bravia core platform has amazing streaming quality, by far the best. Like up to 80 meg.

          • @Savvy shopper1111: I have just got the TCL C845 mini led, my other tv a lg OLED cx. Definitely not the same picture quality but so much better in our bright room.

I wouldn’t agree with some of your comments based on my experience of the tcl c845, very happy and picture is great and would recommend. Also price for me was competitive at about $2200 delivered for my 75”. I read some reviews before buying and seemed on par. Definitely worth playing around with some of the out of box settings to get the best out of it.

          • @Savvy shopper1111: Apparently this isnt as good for gaming as the OLED tvs from LG, Sony etc.

            • +1

@Circly: Gaming on the high end sony mini led is a better choice because burn in simply isnt an issue.

Thats another primary reason im going one next. Driving and flight sims on the big screen.

is it mandatory nowadays when tv has a mic in the remote

  • They'll be dropping the newer flagship in AUS soon, the X95L, as available in NZ but already promised and delayed several times here.

Sony chat will tell you it's not available in AUS yet. Sony chat is lying, it is available, and in stock, through "Pro" home hifi dealers already.

This is a scorching deal right now. I suspect it might not be come Jan, if one can wait.

    • Any significant updates in performance in newer version? What was the original release date (in particular year) of this X95K?

  • +4

JB just price matched it, so if you have any 15% off vouchers left 👌🏻

    • If the sentiment this comment has inspired lasts mroe than 8 hours, i may need to see a medical professional.

    • Well yes obviously, maybe someone should post that as a separate deal so people have both to look at. This however is the best deal without relying on past gift card deals.

Also stack with shopback for an additional 1.75% back potentially, should work.

      • +1

Well, I have $2000 worth of vouchers, just waiting to spend. Currently have a Panasonic 65 GZ1000 OLED. Which I watch in a dim or dark room, so light isn't an issue. Wondering whether to upgrade to this now, or the inevitable, wait for something better later. Only real reason to upgrade is I want a larger screen. :)

        • 77" oleds sometimes you can find in early $3000s, much easier in late $3000s. Even the A80k was under $4000 at one point.

So depends on your budget. If you want big OLED wait. Honestly this TV should suffice for most people and not need OLED. The quality in this tv for the price is unmatched, this is where the value is for an OzBargainrrrrrr haha

    • How do you get these 15% off vouchers?

      • It was an entertainment gift card deal (the one that can be used for lots of different stores). They had a very limited deal recently, no way to get them now.

    • Sorry when were they issuing 15% off vouchers? I have been a Perks member and didn’t get notified of this :(

      • +1

Was via ultimate gift cards on Ozbargain a fortnight or so ago

  • I have an A90J 83” OLED arriving on Monday. Reading all these comments here it sounds like I’ve made a terrible mistake. We mainly watch 4K and HD Blurays at night and streams, but some daytime stuff like news and footy. I paid $5050 price matched at Sony. But now I have doubts that the screen is going to be too dim. 😕

    • +2

You'll be fine. Enjoy the TV!

      • I’m sure I saw it in a bright JB shop under bright flouros a while back and it didn’t look too dim.

    • In the same boat, i just bought an A80L and it won't arrive until end of the month, but everyone keeps going on about how much they're not bright enough during the daytime. Not sure if it's an exaggeration but I guess I can always use the blinds to reduce the light in the room

Let me know what your experience is with your TV when it arrives

      • +1

        Will do.

      • +2

They're easily bright enough for day time. My LG oled is at 50% brightness and I've never considered it to be not bright enough. I don't get the current obsession around brightness levels.

        • Awesome. Yeah brightness wasn't a big topic until the last couple of years now it's everyone's first question when comparing TVs

    • +1

Good pick. I have an lg c1 OLED at home. During the day it totally fine. Can still watch with no issue regarding the tv being dim.

      • Thanks. That’s good to hear.

    • +1

That's a great price and TV.. 83 A90J is still better than last year flagships except A95K .. so nothing to worry

    • Hey mate how'd you go with the TV, any regrets regarding brightness during the daytime?

  • I can get this one or the Samsung QN85C through the partner store for $2695… which one?

    • +1

      This one

    • Qn85c is ipspanel, neutered version of qn90c. Not ideal

      • Can you elaborate?
Jb has the qn90c on sale at lower price than qn85c and specs identical except for dimensions.

        • after doing some research, both the QN85c and the QN90c use the IPS panel. The QN95c however is supposed to be good.

          • @dreamtime: There's a qn95c?
Samsung partner sites have 75" QN90C for $3500

  • Deal's over? $3,885 right now…

  • also showing $3885 for me

  • -1

i got the L version for this price :)

    • How??

      • -1

Corporate rates directly with sony ;)

        • Wanna get me one too?? :) :)

    • Is the L out in Australia yet?

  • JB have it at this price now, but limited stock though. Some areas saying "Shipping from 1 Nov" and others Unavailable. Should be able to get Sony to price match.

Good Guys have it for $2999

    • Keep waiting. I got mine fulfilled for $2600 and estimated delivery of Monday.

Good Guys if you have discounted gift cards, concierge pricing, or good cashback sight it might bring price down a little.

I think its a harder sell for this tv at more than $2600-2800 seeing as new model is creeping into stores.

      • Just might be an issue with stock later, is all…

Also X95L is not in Sony's local lineup so not sure if we're getting it.

        • +1

FYI it is. Pro dealers / hi-fi stores can order it / at least one has a demo on the floor. They're artificially throttling supply to try and runout x95k, they've promised and delayed launch here all year, and NZ's had it for ages.

Sonys "consumer" chat will tell you it's not on shore yet. Sony's consumer chat is lying.
