Brainwavz M4 with Mic + Free Fedex Delivery $36 (with Discount Code)

fb2012fiver

Just saw the recent sale on M4s and grabbed a spare pair. This one is for all the bass-lovers out there (as the deal on these was really popular last time). Brainwavz M4 with mic/remote. Reviews on head-fi.org are very positive, an example:
http://www.head-fi.org/t/606070/review-brainwavz-m4
(Thanks kingpage for the link)

They come with:

  • Comply foam eartips (in addition to the usual silicon set)
  • Hard-shell earphone case
  • Free Fedex 2 day delivery

I tested these and also can vouch for the sound quality. They seal well, non-muddy and firm bass with plenty of detail. I also tested the remote with Iphone4 and HTC One X and works fine on both. They normally sell for US$69.50 on MP4Nation and $89 locally:
headphones.com.au/psingle?productID=623

They are now down to $36 (AUD - with the coupon code fb2012fiver).

The $14 Brainwavz Beta I bought in the last deal lasted a day before they fell apart

    • Contact MP4Nation and they should replace with no dramas. Their customer support is usually very good. This kind of thing happened to me once (faulty on arrival), they replaced it in a week(ish). Login to MP4Nation and create a support ticket, that way no need to fill in order number and stuff, all auto-populated.

I do think that we (I ordered 2 Betas fromthe last deal too) came across a bad batch of Betas there. I don't think they will disappoint anybody, as long as you contact the customer support.

      • .

    • they sound great, but build quality was very bad. Mine came with the right phone rattling badly.

Just to clarify for the rest: bonbon's comment is for Brainwavz Betas, not for the one in this deal Brainwavz M4.

        • thanks to clarify this.

    • I have a similar experience, mine came with a faulty wire, you could see the inner insulation, the jacket wasn't long enough to cover the end

Not to mention that the sound was average, didn't think it was worth the bother of waiting for an email back, paying postage when the build quality was sub-par anyway

      • They pay back for return postage.

        • ignore.

    • Mine are great and I think the build quality is really good. Just sayin.

  • Re: "Reviews on head-fi.org are very positive"…..I think the reviews are more positive about the review than the product itself! Nonetheless, good deal, thanks.

  • Thanks OP. Bought, and since you were honest I have used your reference code :)

    • Thanks Navi. Much appreciated.

  • How do this compare with Beta ?? I really like sound character of Beta, but the build quality of Beta is bad.

    • These sound better than Beta in general, but with more a V shaped sound signature (More bass more treble). The casing is completely metal and looks and feels pretty tough.

      • what I like about Betaz is the mid sound was superb.

If M4 has same sound characteristic (laid back, open sound) with better build, then I am sold.

        • +1

You won't regret spending $36 on these

        • Agree! I have a pair of M4 and it just sound very good to my liking.

      • My two set of Betaz have fallen apart (got them for only around 2 weeks).

Just got mine M4 with Mic from this sale through Fedex, and the sound quality is really night and day compared to Betaz.

  • I think these are brilliant headphones, and re the comment about build quality I would disagree entirely.

These piss all over my Sennheiser CX150 ($69 in DSE, bought or 15 quid in UK) for BQ, and are on a par with the quality of CX300, though the cable is heaps better on the Brainwavz - thicker so doesn't tangle as much.

Sound wise you will be extremely lucky to beat these @ the price.

    • I think that comment was for Brainwavz Betas and not for M4s.

      • Well in that case excuse my triggerhappiness :)

  • Estimated delivery: tomorrow, by 5pm. Now, that's something!

BrainWavez M4 is an amazing set of headphone, in sound and in build quality. I bought a set (without the mic) last time for around 28 dollars, i really like the sound quality of the headphone as compared to the BOSE Mie2i that i had at the time. So much so i switched over to the M4 as my main earphone; however, after about a week a freak accident happened, and the earphone accidentally fell out of my pocket as i was getting my iPhone out of my pocket.

When i got home, i found the earphone in the driveway totally scratched up and soaking in rain for over 9 hours, and i thought this headphone was probably going to junk heap. I was about to chuck it into the trash, but i thought it would be interesting to see what sound quality is like after the headphone was soaked and damaged in such a way. Interestingly enough, the headphone still works and there was no distortion in the sound quality.

So i kept the M4 and gave it a good clean/drying, i am still using the M4 today. I am very impressed with the BrainWavez headphone quality, and when i saw the Betaz deal couple of weeks back, i bought two of them.

However, one of the Betaz set had severe distortion in the right earphone, but the other working set is quite good. The sound quality of the Betaz isn't as good as the M4 (it doesn't have the clarity and warmth), but it does sound better then the iPhone stock set.

This is a long way to say the BrainWavez M4 is a great product, and don't let the Betaz be an indication of the sound/build quality of the M4.

    • thanks for the comments, exactly the same thing happened to Betaz, the right earphone severely distorted.

  • Is this only available for the mic version?

Looking to get one without the mic as my carry on ear buds for travelling, as i hear the cable is slightly different for the mic/non mic versions.

    • The mp4nation guy said it was the same cable, different sheath in the head-fi review.

      • the cable on the mic version of the M4 looks and feel like the same one used on the cheaper Betaz model.

  • I'd wait until they chuck in the fiio amp for free again.

    • That was $47 though.

  • Hmm, wonder if these would be better than the stock Samsung Galaxy S2 ones? Very tempted
Any idea when this deal expires?

I signed up using your referral code!

    • Yes, they definetely would be better than stock ones. These deals usually goes for 4-5 days at least and it was not there 2 days ago.

      Cheers!

      • The stock samsung ones seem to be quite good though (to my ears anyway). But ok I think I'll probably grab one. I need to get rid of those impulse bought noise cancelling pioneers from COTD.. LOL

  • So weird, my crappy iPhone 4S ones just gave out this morning and I was after this exact pair when the time came.

    Used your referral code.

    Thanks heaps.

    • Cheers arthurbach4. Hope you'll like em!

  • Just got my M4 today, after bought Betaz and broken on the first day(heavily distorted on right side). I was very impressed with Betaz, and expecting the same sound quality with M4, but very disappointed, the sound character totally different, very metallic for my liking, too much strident, and lack of midrange.
the housing made from good quality alumunium, but the cable, connector and quality is poor. :(

  • Just got mine too! Pretty good price for these although I agree the sound quality isn't crash hot. My Koss KSC-75's sound a million times better but I bought these for flying and they far out perform the crappy TDK's I got at the airport for the same price.

+1 deal but don't expect great quality cans.

PS: Also used the referral, thanks poster.
PPS: The deal seems to have expired now.

    • Cheers downforce. I found that the soundstage gets remarkably wider after 40-50 hours of usage with these, you get a lot more detail (but not a lot of improvement with anything else - though having said that, I think they are quite satisfactory about the rest, out of the box). So it's worth a try to leave them burning in for a few days (especially if you are not planning to use them for a while).
