Loving mine from the last deal. Excellent IEM.
These have undergone a silent revision which negatively affected the treble tuning of the iems. I'd stay away unless you can EQ. Even the collaborator (HBB) was unhappy with KZ's shady practices to change the tuning to be different to what was advertised.
Why did they tune these negatively if it sounded good? Btw what do you recommend for DAP? :D
Because KZ wanted to save money, so they decided not to also buy the filters required for the treble tuning of the iems.
As for daps I am not familiar with the budget range.
Are you talking about the mystery black mesh?
I assume so.
So v1 batch (first 6000 supposedly) had a physical treble dampener (the black mesh). Every new unit since (pretty much all stock now are V2) without the physical dampener, replaced with a change on PCB…so shaped electronically. However some people report really bright trebles. This is backed up by many audiophiles testing and finding the same.
End of the day it's still a really good iem for the price.
Luckily I am old..so I can't hear those frequencies anyway.
i got some of the ones that had terrible upper mids and REALLY harsh treble, luckily long AFTER i got a refund i found some correct settings and im going to share them for the benefit of any other unlucky souls, as these made them actually usable

It says the linsouls have dynamic drivers, so that would be a major difference.
Can't imagine people give you direct comparisons and feedback. But the KZ PR2 wipes the floor against my Xiaomi Hybrid Pro (which is not too bad already). It being a planar driver the tech makes it a league above any dynamic driver based earphones.
For me there is better clarity across the bass, mid and treble. There is a certain crispiness to the sound as well that it's clear and responsive. It's semi-open housing helps reduce the muffled feeling as well.
