Recent Software Additions

The summer period has been a busy one for us, and our software suite continues to improve in all areas. Below is a summary of which additions the various applications in our software suite have had recently.

My Movies for iPad and iPhone have just been updated to support iOS 6 and the brand new iPhone 5. These releases are considered maintenance releases, and do not bring new functionality. However, see our upcoming functionality section for interesting new features on iPhone and iPad.

My Movies for Windows Home Server 2011 has been made available in a Pre Release version, which now supports both monitoring, copying to, and conversion of videos on external NAS devices. For our existing users this may sound as a small change, but for our professional partners this is an extremely important addition, as it is now possible to create small devices for fully automated disc copying, to use with small or large external NAS devices such as QNAP, Synology and others.

My Movies for Windows Media Center and My Movies Collection Management for Windows has been released in a 4.04 Build 4 version, which brings support for Windows 8, support for contributing Box Sets to our online service, integration API's for control systems such as Control4, and many other additions. At the same time, we believe this is the most stable and well-functioning release of My Movies for Windows Media Center and My Movies Collection Management to date. Support for box sets is something we are also working on adding to our other platforms.

My Movies for Android has recently been updated with a number of small releases to improve the user interface on Android 4 based devices, and to generally improve the stability and quality of the product. Our upcoming functionality section will also contain new details on My Movies for Android.

Upcoming Functionality

The entire My Movies team is working hard on the next things to come in our product suite. Below, we will give you some details about what we are working on, to be released soon, or later in the year.

In My Movies for Mac OS X, we are working on transferring the Box Set support added recently to the My Movies Collection Management for Windows, and we are at the same time working on bringing meta-data storage functionalities to our Mac application. At this point it has not yet been decided which media players or media platforms we will be supporting initially.

On iPhone and iPad, we are working on the last tweaks for a 2.0 version, which will bring long awaited support for TV Series - both TV Series that are catalogued in our Windows applications, but also additional details on TV episodes contained on existing DVD or Blu-ray titles for titles where the details are available in our service. You will also be able to start playback of TV episodes through My Movies for Windows Media Center or on your Dune player using the remote control functionalities. There will be different other additions to the 2.0 release, such as separation of wish lists and other groups, and new sorting options.

In our software for Android phones and tablets, we are close to sending out an update with a lot of additions, including connections to our Windows Home Server 2011 software for monitoring of disc copying, video conversion and similar. This update will also contain new meta-data options for both filtering and sorting, coverflow functions on tablets; various interface customization options and much more. Once this version is released, we will start working on TV Series support for Android as well.

Our biggest project currently is likely on Windows, where we are working on transferring all of our advanced functionalities from Windows Home Server 2011 to be included in a standard Windows package supporting both Windows 7 and Windows 8. This functionality includes fully automated DVD, Blu-ray and Audio CD copying, video conversions, and the ability to connect our iPhone, iPad or Android software to the server and download converted videos to the devices.

No matter which of our software products you are using, we can assure you that there are interesting times to come.

    Spam ?!

  • With MyMovies shift to an encrypted proprietary file system, I'd stay away from that media management software. There are optional, free & paid, software out there that allow open source and common file syntaxs. So you can share you library details across many media platforms.

I'd suggest MCM [Media Center Master] as a fine example and is free, but has a premium feature for an additional cost.

But if you need mobile apps, then this software might be for you.

  • i use DVD Profiler to manage my movie library on iphone and PC, it's awesoome…

MyMovies looks good, I'll have to read up on it…

  • I tried MyMovies which removed all my old movies.xml files, and replaced them with Encrypted files (it didn't even warn me). I believe the move to encryption was because the author decided he didn't like other applications (eg MediaBrowser) reading HIS created data !
Bah, will never trust MyMovies again. I now use Media Center Master, which is free on PC.
