Blue Ram Horn Aquarium Snail (Aquarium Cleaner) $4.99 Each + $3 Postage ($14 Express, $0 SYD C&C) @ Sydney Aquascapes

110

Hi everyone! Blue Rams Horns are down in price again! :)

These are small blue and red snails, great for any freshwater aquarium.
They are quite hardy, and although prefer an temperature range of 18-28 C can survive lower temperatures over winter.

Ram Horns can grow to over 2cm in size, but usually slow down their growth significantly at about 1cm in diameter.

FAQ:
People often inquire about snails exploding in population when introduced to a tank, but there is a bit of a misconception with this: Snails will propagate until they reach an equilibrium with the food available for them in the tank. If you add snails and their population explodes, it means there is tones of food (usually left over fish food) for them to eat, and they are eating it. In other words: Doing their job. Once the food is gone, their population will reduce to enough snails that can survive on how much food is left after your fish are done with it. If they still keep up a massive population, that usually means you are feeding your fish too much.

Postage:
Snails are very resilient to postage issues, so much so we can send them in letters ($3 postage) and 99% of the time there is no issue. We do replace or refund fully if there are any issues with your order as well anyway.

  • Buy a plant and there’s a chance you’ll get one or more snails free in the bag :)

    • Absolutely true as well XD though they would most likely be eggs not grown snails

  • What is the differences between Blue one and red one? How can I avoid it from getting eaten by gold fish?

    • Only difference is color, they are the same species. And for goldfish i havent had that expenrience, but if they are large enough they could. No real solution there other than dont keep goldfish XD

  • im surprised you can post snails in a better lmao

    • They are very hardy. Almost never have issues.

  • My daughter wants an eel but there’s no info on keeping them as pets whilst looking however I found so many stores that posted aquarium life. Blew my mind.

It's more of a weekly custom.

I'm not sure what your problem is here, these went up by 20% since the last time I posted about them (half a year ago) and are down again. The next cheepest on the market is double the price.
I have various things which go up and down constantly depending on stock and if any local breeders bring a batch in, more than onece a week so I post weekly the best deal of the week. I get a lot of stock from local breeders, which is why prices change a lot and why a lot of my prices are super cheep.

I'm also not breaking any of Ozbargain's rules and according to a lot of people here giving them good value and are happy I post here…

What exactly would you want me to do? Not post bargains if I have too many? Post only once a month instead of a week? Re-define ozbargain's rules on what is a "bargain" is to your defintion? I'm careful to not break any of the community rules and don't think a post per week can be called spamming so not sure what your problem is.

I'm not sure what your problem is here,

Really? Let me help you out then as it appears it's too hard to put this all together: everyone knows you are simply abusing the OzBargain system to post your free advertisement and marketing stuff here. Weekly, on the clock, to build your brand. These posts are as far from an actual deal as they can be, but mods for some reason allow you to post your incomparable deals. Great for you!

The funny thing is that most stores have to pay good money if they want to advertise here, but you figured you can fly under the radar, just like a handful of other crooks here. Just don't pretend that you don't even know what's going on and you are a totally naive and well-intended store, posting real deals here, helping the community. Ya know, genuine retailers have been banned for less before (unfortunately).

        • +1

Any post by a rep of the store would be "advertising", no matter how well intentioned or good the deal is. Ozbargain has a great solution for that: you must mark your post as a rep post, combined with a community vote its pretty fullproof.

Your problem seems to be solely that this is a rep post, in which case just igone them, they are clearly marked as such for a reason.

As for whether its an actual bargain, the community is pretty good with that. I think I post actual bargains and so far it seems people agree. If they didnt id stop posting.

Again l'm not sure what you actually want me to do. Ill just repeat my last set of questions here, maybe you do have a sepcific suggestion?

          • @Brandingo:

you do have a sepcific suggestion?

Just the same suggestion I would give to zebra mussels, and cane toads.

        • I can't believe you choose a store selling snails to pick on. Post some deals yourself instead of being a selfish taker all the time.

          • -1

@Heaps for Cheaps: who the flip is talking to you Creeps "Karen" Cheaps*t?

            • @glade90: Do you think anyone needs your permission? R U OK?

You obviously have some mental issues. Sort yourself out.

A lot of fish people will kiss a fish good luck before placing in tank. Is it OK to do with these snails or are they carriers of Rat lung worm disease (Angiostrongylus cantonensis)…?

Don't want to lose my arms and legs. There was that other sad story about the Australian that licked a slug as a dare, then he became paralyzed.

I mean, you can also get the disease from eating a plant which came into contact with an infected slug/snail.

… I've never had to research if it is safe to kiss my snails, didn't think it would ever come up, so unforuntately I cannot comment on the likelyhood of dying from showing affection to your new shelled companions… Whatever you choose: Good luck!

Ozbargain comment and reply of the year nomination

  • OP, Are these better than MTS ?
When I had my fully planted tank 15+ years ago in the US, MTS saved my tank when the heater thermostat failed.
MTS are invisible in the soil till something goes wrong in your tank.

    • What do you mean saved your tank? And better in what way?

      • I had thousands of mts in my 300L discuss/angel tank. They are normally hidden in soil during day, and come cleanup tank algae during the night.
They act as a canary for any water chemistry / temp issues.
When the heater thermostat failed, the water temp started to rise. The mts were impacted much before the fishes showed any distress.
Gave enough time to handle the situation.

        • Interesting, probably the key thing about the mst would be that they come out and make it visible. Rams wouldn't so probably not.
