  • Just to confirm, wont work with Sony AX3200/5500/etc?

    • I haven't used Sony AX3200/5500, but the carplay will work with any situation of below:
*Wired CarPlay in the original car
*Wired Android Auto in the original car
*Original wired Android Auto + wired CarPlay

      • Wired Android Auto in the original car

Are you able to explain what is the difference between the one originally installed in the car and an installed aftermarket one?
And I do install this kind of stuff so what is the difference?

        • +1

Not all aftermarket ones follow the appropriate androidauto, carplay, or USB standards.

I have bought some no named brand aftermarket ones from China in my time and many times they require an additional app or trickery to get them to work properly.

I'm only assuming that because this is the case for some aftermarket ones the seller can't make any guarantees on aftermarket ones.

          • @whitepuma:

the seller can't make any guarantees on aftermarket ones

The seller also can't make any guarantees on the pre installed units too.
Compatible doesn't mean guarantee: see return, refund and delivery charges.
The OP also ignored my basic question so he/she is just another spammer on Ozbargain.

Not all aftermarket ones follow the appropriate androidauto

Yes you're 100% right but the seller excludes all aftermarket units which is wrong so big and well known brands such as Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer, Sony etc. etc. should be covered by the merchant.

            • @billadm:

The seller also can't make any guarantees on the pre installed units too.
Compatible doesn't mean guarantee: see return, refund and delivery charges.

OK then, let me reword. The seller can't confirm if it's compatible with aftermarket ones as they don't all follow androidauto, carplay, or USB standards.

Like….in the end it means the exact same thing in terms of the sellers description.

  • Shows $70 for me

  • huge call lag

    Won't work with MG cars
Hard to connect but if your are lucky it connects some times..
Bought 4 months back and regret

    • Agree, bought during last deal. Only works sometimes.

    • lucky it connects some times

      It's cheap China import stuff.
My Kenwood connects instantly (via Bluetooth) as soon as I turn the stereo ON, it even (the Android Auto) automatically turns the Bluetooth on my phone ON and synchronizes with the stereo.

Nothing but trouble with the 4.0

  • Which one you guys recommend? Good for both carplay and android auto?

I've got my S21U paired with MY19 Outlander and also got one for wife's i30 which pairs up with her iphone and they're great.

    A $1 price drop isn’t a bargain considering it’s a monthly spam

    • -6

Carlinkit discount came monthly. it can be Spam if it is found other place same price, i bet you can't find

    • +1

To be honest, I didn't realise this was a monthly thing and got it for $105 off Ali.
So, its actually a pretty good price, despite the frequency of it.

  • got the square one a few months ago works really well for a cheap unit and has actually somehow improved my call lag/mic

  • +1

Wouldn't pair with BT for me with an s22 or pixel 7 in my golf, gave up, I also have regret

  • Bought last time this was shared. DOES NOT WORK with Oppo + D90 :(

This thing is super slow, takes 3-4 minutes to connect. Often screen is not responsive. I returned mine after a few weeks.
Also you kinda still need to charge your phone when in the car, otherwise it obviously discharges to zero in an hour or two of driving.

  • Have one of these for my Kia cerato 2022. Little to no lag compared to ottocast U2-X Pro. Wish there was a good way to change between android auto and apple car plan when both are available. Only complaint is that my phone stays connected well after the car turns off and won't connect to home WiFi for a minute until it disconnects fully, but other than that I really like it.

    • Great info, will try from ebay for my Sportage, surprised a 22 Cerato doesn’t already have wireless, think kia are slipping

  • It is a hit and miss in my case. Half of a time it would not connect.

  • +1

I think I've got this exact one from Aliexpress, it was labelled as "CarlinKit 5.0 2Air", and it's been amazing.
    Literally set and forget.

Partner has it paired with her Flip3 and a 2016 Civic.
She gets into the car, and within about 15-20 seconds, wireless Android Auto is on the screen and fully functional.
That's roughly the same amount of time it would've taken to find her phone in her bag and plug it in to the wired Android Auto from before.

She doesn't even take the phone out of her bag anymore as she doesn't need to.
No lag, no delays with audio over phone calls, calls sound perfect as well.

For users who had issues with the unit, I had similar issues with my Vitara where it wouldn’t load or trigger the head unit for CarPlay. Depending on when the unit date of manufactured then it will require a software update.

To do a software update you need to connect to the WiFi network of the carlinkit unit open your browser on your phone and enter the address http://192.168.50.2/ into the URL and then update it and configure it there. Check the manual for the password to the WIFI network

You can also adjust any audio lag as well

  • Never worked, and spent months trying to get a refund from Lightinthebox.

99c cheaper than ebay, multiple sellers, no need to rush for this deal

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/166371333868?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…

  • I got one, it connects to my flip3 and my wife's Pixel 7 in about 10s to our 2022 Sportage. Much better than the wired option with the Sportage, which would randomly disconnect all the time even though this device is wired in. Not sure how it improves stability but it has for us.

  • If your phone supports charge % limiting, what is the real point of having one of these?

I can think of a very limited use case and the messing around to link it up is more problematic than just plugging it in.

You're also much less likely to play with or look at your phone if it's plugged in, so it's a win-win all around.
