Discord Nitro Subscription Price Higher than App Store Renewal Price in Turkiye

hey everyone,

might be a silly question, but it's about time for my discord nitro to renew.
it's still coming up in the app store as 269,99 TRY per year; is that the amount i'll be charged and i'll keep my nitro or will discord complain and i'll need to cough up the difference? the price has gone up heaps in turkiye so i'll definitely be cancelling if that's the case..

just curious if anyone else has had this experience in discord or other apps where you've done some geopricing trickery.

    In theory that's how it should work. But Discord might - in a pretty unlikely scenario - be different.

    How many days until renewal? Apple has always sent out an email notifying of price changes if there is one. What ever is shown in the App Store is what is charged. I don't believe the developer can seek extra after the fact or outside of the store.

      Too much hassle. You can just make a brand new Google account in Turkey region without VPN and use your Visa/Master card to pay, unless your bank blocks the transaltion. Of course you need an Android phone though.

    Oh my husband just signed up for a free trial to this. So being a Turkey resident also works for Discord? I don't have Apple though :(

      it does, but prices have gone up quite a bit - upwards of $40/yr - so maybe there's a cheaper region? i suspect you can similarly sign up with a turkish google play

        Ah yeah I found the discord Ozb thread. I think $40 is a little steep for what it is, my husband can deal with pleb discord 😂

      Same here; I got my renewal yesterday and was charged the old price. The next billing is on October 27, 2024.

    Just got an email in Turkish saying price is increasing to 1000try, however "existing mobile subscribers" won't be affected. So hopefully that's a long term thing

      Apple's policy for subscription increases is this:

      "If the increase does not exceed approximately USD 5 and 50% of the subscription price, or USD 50 and 50% for annual subscriptions, and where permitted by law, developers may change the price without interrupting service. Developers may do this no more than once per year."

      The increase in USD is less than $50, but the % increase is like 270%, which is much higher than the 50% and is probably why we're still able to be charged 270 TRY. Lucky for those who subscribed via apple before this loophole was patched…
