  • Which model is it where there were basically only small updates after? Was it the 10 and then the accessories still work up to the current model?

    • I know 9 and 10 the accessories are compatible

  • Anyone checked against the GGC site?

      9 = $374.00 / 11 = $454.00

Do these still overheat in basically any weather above 20c?

    • My Hero 11 never does. To be fair I record at 2.7K and not 4K which helps.

    • It depends what you're doing… If you're using it as a webcam sitting on a table inside you're likely to have issues…

I've had no issues with my 10 Black overheating @ 4k 50fps, hiking/boating/fishing/cycling/motorbike/helmet cam/general travels…. Even when I run it powered from a powerbank for many hours straight in 30's temperatures in full sun it's been fine… (helmet cam for desert crossings)

I've been through 3 of the newer GoPros, they all failed me when I needed them most, would freeze all the time. Got a DJI action 4 recently and I'll never go back to GoPro. They have gone downhill since about the 3 imo.

      • Mmmm yeah this is my concern.

If I'm using it to record rides or hiking or climbing I won't be constantly checking the camera.

That would drive me nuts to find it froze half way through a ride

      • Yea, i think yr right! This is what most of the reviews are saying on YouTube,
I don't have either, i was going to get a go pro 12 at the black Friday event, but nobody has said the go pro over the dji 4.
Several have gone as far to say the hero 9 was the worst for reliability…
I haven't heard anything 'bad' about Dji 4 other then Chinese government involvement… 🤔

      • pls share where did you buy it (was it a discount ?) thanks

    • I've never had issues with my Hero 9 Black, while mounted to a matte black adventure moto helmet in the sun at 40c+

I’ve had the 9, 11 and now the 12. As far as I can tell the only time you get issues is with poor quality micro so cards. I’ve never had an issue with them. (Old hero’s sessions I have had bugs, but they are way old)
Over heating only happens when there’s no airflow over the camera.
I think YouTube reviews get more views by claiming issues. Check out DC Rainmaker for a good review regarding heat testing.

        YMMV

        • Which cards are you running?

          • +1

@camr00: SanDisk 256GB Extreme PRO microSDXC Card For the high demand and Samsung 256GB EVO Plus Micro SD Memory Card for just standard filming.

  • which one to get for motorcycle helmet mount?

    • +2

I’d go with the 11 mini. Has prongs on the back and bottom. And the last model with gps!

      • Although the Hero11 Black has GPS the Hero11 Black Mini doesn't, I'm pretty sure.

    • It's much of a muchness
I 3D printed a chin mount for my Fly Trekker helmet, but ended up just drilling a hole through the peak and mounting a screw on gopro clamp through the hole

FYI Hero 9 is known to have issues and isn't really an upgrade over Hero 8 by any means at all.

    • +1

My research says the same thing, hero 9 was buggy…

  • Saw it at $299 at OW the other day.

hero 9 has the old processor, it feel lag and slow .. that's why i sold it to get a 10 2 years ago.

10 is much much better and smoother !
