    Bought now, regret later

Paid effectively $738.60, after cashback and MacBank gift card

  • -1

This would be around cost price from lego

    • Nah, its lower

    • +4

You can get a bootleg from aliexpress for around $200, and those bootleggers must be making some money. Which means the cost is less than that. But add in the Disney licence, which I have no idea how much they charge.

      • +2

Bootleg is a good reference on how much they actually cost excluding all the licencing and marketing etc.
        Good someone bring this up

  • +5

Good stocking stuffer for the kids for Christmas

    • +2

      Big stocking
      .

    • +1

I picture you just giving each kid a handful of lego from the set!

      • +1

Put all the pieces in a bucket, and give every Halloween door knocker a scoop. The kids will love it!

    • Good for doing the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs.

  • +12

    That piece of junk……

    • someone negged you, obviously didn't get the joke lol

      • +3

Pretty sure it was negged by Han Solo.

Investment investment investment. One day it will all be over

        • +1

But for a beautiful moment in time, we created a lot of value for shareholders.

          • @cnut: Yaa in time with some plastic bits to portray a total fiction

    • Wait until you buy propadee - $1m for some concrete, utter waste!

      • Indeed. Rent is cheaper anyways

        • +1

Own nothing - I like it.

    Inb4 “high yield investment vehicle”.

  • +1

This is absolutely a bargain, well done to anyone who nabbed it

    • +1

I've watched prices on this for years, always hovering in and around $1000 except on rare occasions. Eventually I jumped on it at $999 with a modest cashback about a year ago, but $813 with 7% is amazing. LEGO themselves almost never discount it. I wonder how many units they moved.

      • Exact price I paid, excited other people get the joy. But bloody oath finding a place/display for it is impossible

      • +1

Yep same. The other one to look out for is when it’s $1040 @ Myer and SB/CR have 20% uncapped sale with Toys. That’s where I got mine from.

  • Damn. Missed it!

  • +2

Too good, especially with 7% CR Cashback
    !

I got it when the camels notification came at 4am. Was gonna post in the morning but OP beat me to it.

    • +2

We are more interested to hear what we're you doing at 4am apart sleeping…

  • -1

As someone who only spent $50 max on lego sets, $1000+ on one is crazy but the set has so many pieces - even has a speedrun world record

  • +1

People need sleep but deals never

  • +1

Do people seriously buy this thing for almost a grand???

    • +2

      Sure, why not ?

    • There’s much worse things you can buy for almost a grand! If you can afford it then why wouldn’t you?

  • Jesus! Sell me one @I Smell Pennies !!!

  • Damm it missed it - crap (

  • Are these sets worthy as an investment? Or too risky? What percentage per annum can Lego yield over 10-20 years?

    • Sure are! Even more if un-opened and sealed.

    • +2

Timing is everything. IF you bought one of these at full price, you'd be at a loss, especially if you include opportunity costs. Paying $1300 RRP at launch 7 years ago, to 800 now, is about as much loss as buying a car new.

  • Seriously, Homer would design a better ship.

  • I missed it. But I'm most looking forward to buying the Eiffel Tower for Xmas, which is already a grand, lol.

  • +1

FYI. Don't buy big Lego sets like this un-sealed. Collectors flog the figurines from the box and sell it "brand new".

    • As someone who would likely buy something like this un-sealed, thankyou for saving me from future heartbreak.

    • not entirely true, they would say if the figures aren't included. I've seen tons of sets that have been opened but the bags are all sealed.

      • Yeah it’s called a scam. They aren’t going to be honest with you…..

        • If you buy with eBay or at least PayPal they can't really scam you

  • Noooooooo I’ve missed it! Why can’t they just add more stock at that price instead of putting it back up again. This is where posting on ozbargain is annoying when there’s only a couple.

At times of needing a stress release :P

I've been tempted by the UCS Falcon, but will be content with the mini (75257) version. Even seeing how much the Lego box of the UCS version weighs (14kg's) makes me wince, can't imagine building it lol.

      • +1

Thanks for the pick up mate gave me a great laugh! Much needed 😢

  • Anyone know of the original falcon Lego made?

    • Is this a fake website? No valid payment can be made!

    • +3

The build and play listing says "AI Price Match. Not for sale."

I believe their previous price drop to $799 triggered the Amazon match of $813. Now b&p trying to trigger an even better bargain…

      • +3

Interesting. Playing the Amazon auto price matching software against itself. Buying, and then selling on their website for profit?

    • I have always been hesitant to use build and play. They're too cheap and too unknown despite being on brickhawk. Can any AFOLs who have bought from there pitch in on whether they sell genuine Lego?

      • +3

I took the risk on buying Rivendell for my birthday. Was very nervous as it was a new site for me, i think no paypal so no buyer protection and a lot of money. But it was shipped the next morning with tracking and arrived very quickly.
Hope this helps. I was very satisfied though.

    • This website is up to some shady stuff. You couldn’t buy before at it’s listed price but now you can at a re-listed price of 1,059.99.

I think the others are right. They reduced their price so they could buy Amazon stock. Did so at an early hour, purchased stock so no one else could. Didn’t allow anyone to buy their stock whilst they were doing this and have now re-listed their own stock at original price.

      Very very scammy behaviour.

  • Bargain

  • That would of cleared out amazons stock levels for sure. Great price. Wonder if they bother to restock or are we near the end of its local distribution.

    • +5

That’s too much thinking mate. They just got tricked to price match someone

  • +1

Currently building this - 17 sets of lego bags, got through the first bag of roughly 500 pieces and had 4 spare bits….this aint for the feint of heart. Brilliant to build it though.

    • +1

That’s normal. Every bag has spare parts. Just collect them up.

      • +1

Yes, but my note related to the number for this kit - usually in little kits there's half a dozen extras. In most of these bags on MF (up to set 3 at the moment) ive encountered less than 10 extra bits in total despite having gone through probably 700 pieces so far.

  • $51.74 cashback tracked in Cashrewards. Amazing!
