Was hoping it was $8 like the $10 Amazon Echo Buds (2nd Gen) 😛

    • Those are earbuds and only for Audible sub's

  • Its not targeted.
I guess anyone can use the code to get it for $99. At least it worked for me when I tried.

    • Lucky you. Didn't work for me.

      • The code works on both of my accounts, one got the email and the other didn't. Do you have Amazon prime?

        • Did not work for me with prime. Did not receive an email.

          • +1

@EBug: If it helps, same here. Definitely have prime, certainly seems targeted.

        • Yeah got Prime. Just no deal.

        • Same here - no email but the code works.

    • +1

LoL) I was just watching this…

  • +1

    Is this any good?

    • We have one, i really like it, works well with a Ring doorbell

      • +1

I had the exact opposite experience and returned mine.

  • +1

Code didn't work for me. I must not be one of the chosen ones

  • +1

Does not work for me unfortunately.

  • +4

The echo show 5 for $35 was amazing, great to have in a kitchen, video chat, display Eufy doorbell when pressed, shopping list, watch Netflix etc. Think this is just a bigger display version

    • Did your Echo show 5 show notification when someone pressed the doorbell or actual video live feed? Cheers

      • Mine did and so is my fire stick. I think depends on how you set the notification. Mine just annouce someone at door.

      • Actual video popped up on it and and sound at the doorbell could be herd. You could press button to unmute and they could then hear you. Impress with the Eufy, never any subscription cost.

        • Thanks for confirming!

    • Bigger display, but also bigger speakers for better sound.
Sidenote: How did you have it setup to show the eufy doorbell cam? I have eufy doorbell as well, but don't have them sync'd up (haven't been able to get it to work)

      • Just done it all on my phone, setting add devices. Once added have the option of auto announcing and video

  • Worked for me. Thanks op

  • Cheers brah got it

  • Worked for me. Cheers

  • Bruh, got one too cheers.

  • Just tested worked for me -no email received but don't need one.

  • +3

Code working for me, but do I need this?

    • +4

This is Ozbargain. Is that question even allowed? Who would ask that?

  • Worked for me, thanks OP.

  • Still using the compact Echo Spot on my bedside table, also having iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods on the table as well, won't have enough space for this bigger Show 8. Also while the speakers and camera on the Sho 8 are better, but we all already have so many cameras on our smartphones and computers, and so many better desktop speakers and headphones, so these features are a bit redundant for me. I just hope there is a newer and similarly compact Echo Spot 2 coming out in the future, but I doubt it :(

  • Ordered! Thanks OP!

  • +7

I ordered one of these - it was utterly useless

    Sent it back

    Not worth your counter space

  • +1

Looks like there's a 3rd gen being released in 2 days

  • +3

Its pretty much useless (at least for me). Get an alexa device with a zigbee hub if you have smart home devices. The 3rd gen which will replace this has the hub

    • Is it just me or is the hub always just out of my reach? I think up to now we have to get the echo show 10 to get zigbee, which is just too expensive. If the next one of these is coming out soon it's surely going back to a much more expensive price. Pretty sure you can get a dedicated zigbee unit for 50 bucks if not less

  • Coded worked great, thanks

  • +11

For those people who are not in Amazon eco system.! Be aware you can’t cast YouTube or Apple AirPlay.! I regret buying eco pop few days ago.! Only cast Spotify and Amazon music .!

    • +1

Yep that stopped me from pulling the trigger. I use Home assistant to cast my cameras to the nest hub. I was hoping this could do the same and I can have a pure alexa home setup but alas.. no.

    • Yeah, no cast option from any stream service including Prime… not much use of the screen. Speaker can be useless if you use YT music or Apple Music.

  • +3

While Amazon is updating their product line, seems Google is pretty slow in recently years, after the hub 2nd gen released several years back, no more updates, and Google assistant become dumber than ever before

  • +2

I have this on my kitchen bench and I love it. I play Spotify and it also rotates through 700 family photos uploaded into Amazon photos.

Also use it for verbal kitchen timer when cooking and I don’t have hands free to use my phone or program the oven etc, I just say “Alexa set a 5 minute timer” etc.

A already have an old intercom to the front door, or I would look at also hooking it up to Ring doorbell.

    • +1

I do the same, haven’t used timer feature tho. Good tip there!

      • +1

Here's another. Make a list for each place you shop and a meat list. We call out the expiry date for each meat product as we unpack. Then you can look at the list on your phone to see what needs using as you plan dinner.

  • +5

I find Alexa more friendly to talk to than Google but I already have a ton of Google devices

  • does these ones have the motion detection feature like the US ones and not like the UK ones?

  • -4

    Yay cheap surveillance devices

Would not be surprised in the near future if holders of a security clearance would not be permitted to have these devices in their home

  • Thanks OP.. Got it to use with the Eufy Door Bell..

  • Does it not have YouTube ?

    • YouTube can be used through browser. Pretty much looks like an app.

      • Not even close… it’s the most pathetic YouTube solution, and you cannot cast any video include YouTube, Netflix or even Amazon Prime from your phone. What a waste of a great display screen… No wonder it’s so cheap.

        • But this has Netflix, AP, iView and 7 plus as built in apps. No need to cast those I thought.

          • @Chiang: Good on you. Those apps are laggy and hard to use for me most time. My echo show is a overpriced bedside clock now lol.

  • Not eligible :(

  • worked for me! thanks!

  • Worked for me thanks

  • worked for me but not sure if it worth it.

  • Got one. Cheers

  • Got one thanks OP.

  • +1

Thanks OP - my Gen 1 has started to act irrationally so it's time to upgrade. I use this in the kitchen and it's been the most used Amazon device in the house. Most used features are the photo slide show, timers and spotify / media streaming.

  • Thanks OP - Worked for me too.

  • Didn't work for me

  • +1

Can anyone explain why this more expensive deal is getting more votes than a cheaper deal when it was $79?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/743380

It looks like it was also $89 from Optus.

They are the same unit aren't they?

    • +2

Yep, but maybe Amazon as a seller is more compelling as they have amazing returns policy.

I have refunded two laptops after 2 years of use (month Lenovo 2 in 1s that developed issues) and they paid for shipping and issued refund upon receipt of goods, didn’t even seem to wait to assess/test the machine to side if it was owner mistreatment (eg drop damage, or water damage).

      • Yup exactly, Even if I have to pay a small premium I'd definitely prefer amazon over any other retailer just because of the excellent customer service!

      • +2

Amazon has started cracking down on returns. A friend returned his purchase because it wasn’t working. Three days later, he got an email from some Amazon department saying they are monitoring his unusual returns and if they find it happens too many times, they might block his account, based on their t&c. He got his money back but was angry with the experience.

  • +3

just bought 4 pops from prime day, $20 a piece

that gives me a lot of echos now.

    10
    8
    3 x 5
    echo plus
    4 x dots
    4 x pops

unsure if i should add another 8. trying to resist buying more echos

    • +3

      R U OK?

      • +1

        Google said not ok

      • lol, im ok.
i have one in each bedroom, living rooms, bathrooms, hallways, backyard, washroom, work desk, etc….

        • Do you sync the sounds or organised into groups?

          • +1

@onomatopoeia: yes i do. grouped into rooms. say i can yell at my kids from the comfort of my bed, lol.

            • @Hugh G Rection: Nice. Since you are so rooted to Alexa, Is the audio on 8 significant better than all of them(apart from 10) of course. Is it even comparable to Nest Audio?

  • +1

Worked thanks . Now - can I work out how to use it rrrrrr?

  • +1

I wish it had an option to have it turn the screen completely off rather than going to night mode when my room goes dark. I like to sleep in darkness. I have to say "alexa screen off" every night.

    • You can set it to auto adjust to room darkness level.

      • Unfortunately this only sets it to a low brightness and does not completely turn off the screen.

Side note: How come when I turn on auto adjust brightness the colour scheme of the “night mode” is black with a white clock, whereas without auto adjust it’s black with a red clock…

  • +1

Was able to use the $50 Amazon credit received from purchasing the Samsung earbuds, to further reduce the price to $49.

  • Anyone figure out who this has been targeted towards?

  • 2 for $150 on Black Friday and I'm in

  • :( Didn't work

  • Looking to wallmount (have recess power point) some screen (tablet) for home automation purpose ( display/control Reolink cams, doorbell, smart switches, led strips etc) Any recommendations?

  • Works for me. Didn't get an email and I'm only on Trial Prime at the moment. Not moving forward though as thoroughly invested in the Googleverse. My only Echos (2 X dot 1 x Show 5) are only extension chimes for my Eufy doorbell :P

P.S. Doesn't work on my son's account who has full Prime…. Go figure.

  • Solid deal.
I have one and it's pretty solid. I don't know if I prefer the screen or the echo dot without the screen. Both sound good enough to fill the room with decent sound.

  • Dint work !! are there any other way to get this ?

    • Why do you want it so bad?

      • want to gift to someone.

  • Nope .. didn’t work

  • worked for me

  • Available for me on Prime account I have had for over a year and on son’s trial account.

I got an email, my son didn’t.

  • happy to help someone who is located in the northern suburbs of Mel and can pick up

  • Got one delivered today. However, it's not compatible with my second-generation Ring Doorbell.
While I can get Alexa to display the front door video feed, it doesn't produce a chime when the doorbell is pressed.
    I'm considering returning it.

    • Thanks for the feedback. I was not aware of that!

  • I just got the email with the code today.

    • Likewise.
Was about to post the deal, but did a search first and found this from a week ago.
      Must still have plenty left….

  • Any cheap gift cards going around for Amazon?

Checked Shopback and they only have 2%

  • code didn't work for me, but it shows as $99 (Promotion(s) Applied: -$130.00) without accepting the code for some reason.
