TV Died. Will There Be OLED 65” at 2k Mark?

Hi everyone! My folks’ tv broke and is looking at either 65 or 75 inch OLED TV, was budgeted for 2k-3k.
I was shocked at how much OLED costs these days (haven’t been on the tv market for ages). Is there any chance of a sale with OLED price tagged at around 2k at Black Friday or will I need to wait till the new year with hopefully some clearance? Old tv was from ALDI 48” and is placed in living room with bright lights. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

    • Thank you! Will have a look at this

  • Depends if you want a decent brand or trash

    • A decent brand preferably…

    • Is there a trash brand OLED?

      • Hisense presumably

'These days?' They've always been expensive. Even in the good old C9 65" days, they were $2800 - 3000 on sale. Now with inflation and feature creep, it's around 10% more. You won't find 75" for anywhere close to this, flat out. If your budget is $2k, temper your expectations, and you may get a good quality 55" on black friday.

    • Budget is 2k-3k, I’ll check out on Black Friday then. Thanks!

Shocked at how much a large screen top of the line new(ish) technology costs?

You can always buy an LED or QLED.

      Yuck

    • Definitely didn’t expect 4k+ price tag. I thought they would be 2-3k.

If the tv is for a bright room you're better off going for LED/MiniLED

    • You can't really see things from OLEDs in a bright room?

Newer tech like QD OLED (Samsung) or OLED evo (LG) address this, but you'll never reach the sheer brightness of other screen types. In reasonably bright rooms, still very usable.

    • When I’m at the shop I have difficulty differentiating the miniLED to the regular LED, how do I know which is which?

    Yes, there is a chance.

    • Thanks! I’ll wait for the sale then. If it’s under 3k I think I’ll still jump for it, but for now at 4k mark it’s a bit over my budget.

  • You might be able to get the previous gen 65' oled for about $2k

    • Sweet! Previous gen is definitely ok. Thanks for the advice!

  • The 65” LG CS was available for under 2k new, so there’s a chance that any remaining C2 stock could be discounted to a similar level.

If you’re in a capital city then have a look on Facebook marketplace or eBay, you can buy 65” CX, C1, CS, GX, G1, A8H, A80J for $1000-$1500. These units still carry ACL warranty, so just give them a good looking over when buying and you’ll be right.

    • awesome, I’ll check that out too. thank you heaps!
