Go to mall that has all 3 shops and cross-check them yourself? Products vary over time, as does their quality, there's no set answer.

      Go to mall

      Bourke St ???

    • Agree and the fit and cut of different brands will suit different people better/worse

    UNIQLO

  • If Kmart would revise their 4.50 design to a tag less design like the target one it would be the clear winner

Wayver seems to be the best for white t shirt so far (can get for close to $25) , retains shape decently and the white colour is just thick enough to not high beam w/ my pepperoni nips.

Dickies, about $20 from Amazon on special.

And I like these at two for $26. Good weight and length for an xl fatarse like me

I think longer sleeve shirts, even t-shirts, look a bit more grown up. No need to be scaring the ladies by openly brandishing these guns. I find Big W tends to have more of them. But really you should be browsing the sales racks of all three. And checking the prices on the scanner, sometimes they are even cheaper than what the rack says.

    • Homer & Sipowicz would disagree about the sleeve length

Ageing op shop ones are better. And made from real material, not thin soluble fabric like the crap sold at main stream supermarkets

  • I have 2 black crew neck black shirts from Kmart which lasted me over 8+ years….. I couldn't find any other shirt like it..

  • The Kmart ones look and feel good brand new but I find they deteriorate very quickly but for the price you can just buy new ones over and over again.

  • I've been wearing shirts from BronsonMFG who are a Chinese company doing the whole repro vintage military/workwear thing but at a much cheaper price point than their competitors. Their shirts fit great, are a nice weight, and hold up really well after many washes. Wait till they have their black friday sale and you should be able to get them for about $30 which they're worth. They have local stock too as my orders have shipped from Melbourne.

My absolute favourite shirt though is the Yukon Army Tee from Los Angeles Apparel (American Apparel rebirthed under the original owner) but it only comes in heather. Absolute tank of a shirt, super soft, awesome fit, and mine have not lost shape at all after being washed weekly for almost 2 years.

    • You seem like the right person to ask: where do I find the best Bundeswehr jacket? The cold war style olive one?

Not really sure as most of the brands I follow focus on US military pieces from Vietnam and earlier. If there’s nobody doing high end repros I would be searching for an original on eBay.

There’s always the M-65 jacket from Bronson for a similar style. Then you’ve also got the option of adding the field liner when they have it back in stock.

A decade or so ago I went to Lowes and bought half a dozen identical plain black shirts and wore them almost every day for a number of years and they held up pretty well.
No idea about current day quality.

  • Whatever is cheap and not thin material (cotton), my only two criteria.
