Damn, whats in the deluxe drinks package?
You'd want to be having like 8 cocktails a night at least haha

    • +25

      2 for brunch
      2 for lunch

alcohol poisoning and cirrhosis has never been so cheap!

        • +1

Yer its free, the tax payer is paying for their treatment via medicare

          Just like stupid smokers

          • +4

@MrThing: Smokers pay for their treatment many many times over in taxes. They also die before they cost the system the most money. If we wanted to save money from the government coffers encouraging smoking wouldn't be a bad idea.

            • -2

@bobswinkle: Or ban (or tax them into oblivion) them, collect those smokers taxes anyway and not have to spend a penny of it on smoking related treatment

              • +2

@MrThing: But why? In a free society they're free to do what they like to the extent they don't harm others… We have banned virtually every opportunity for direct harm to others. We know they are a net gain to government coffers. Anything else is authoritarian.

                • -2

@bobswinkle: Give up all access to tax payer funded medical treatment for alcohol and ciggis and I dont care what you do woth your body

                  • @MrThing: But I've just told you; they pay more towards those things than other people and cost less because they die earlier…

                    • @bobswinkle: you dont pay much tax when ur on the dole but

                      • +1

@MrThing: … You don't pay tobacco taxes if you're on the dole??

    • +3

      • ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

      • +2

So wine by the glass is included, but if you want it by the bottle you only get a discount? Why would anyone buy the bottle instead of just having glass after glass?

        • +19

Better wines are probably only available by the bottle.

        • +2

the wine they give you is cask wine

    • +1

The question to be asked is will you drink 8+ drinks 🍹 oer day?

      • +1

Its quite easy when spread over day/night.

        • +4

I don't see how…. Most days you're in port anyway, it's not like you spend all your days 'at sea' on the ship with nothing to do. And the At Sea days have plenty of activities to do that don't involve elbow bending. All 5 of us adults didn't have time to drink on a 10 day cruise!

    • +7

Thats just to get your money back!

Who goes on a cruise to drink all day?
They offer so many activities to pass your time

      • +11

        Who doesnt?

      • +12

They are floating RSL clubs now

  • +29

That's insanely expensive, who is drinking $177 worth for 11 days straight? Turn it down and bring a flask

    • +29

I dont think a flask is going to last long for someone thinking about buying a $177 a day drinks package..

      • Depends on the size?

      • +14

Also pretty sure they check your bags and you can't BYO alcohol.

        • -2

1-2 Bottles each from memory - may vary depending on length of cruise etc.
But, not allowed enough if you enjoy some good drinks each day while on holiday ).

          • +1

@Sal in SA: I think some cruises allow a couple of bottles of wine, but I haven't heard of any that allow you to take on bottles of spirits.

        • +17

Listerine bottles full of vodka and food colouring apparently 🤣

    • +3

      A. Has the OP posted the daily drink package prices in AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS? $177 AUD = 112 $USD approx
      B. Do you know what the drink prices IN US DOLLARS are? Cocktail $10-14; Wine per glass $9-25 approx. etc

    • +3

It's a cruise, all there is to do is drink.

      • +2

        And bonk.

    • +3

We got into the alcohol free area at circular quay for the millennium new years eve with 1.25 litre coke bottles that didn't have an awful lot of coke in them.

Thought we were pretty clever until we saw others opening champagne bottles😃

  • Genuine question: Are there security personnel/bouncers on board ?

    • Yes

    • +1

Are you planning to cause trouble?

      • -3

ha ha … Maybe ! I probs wouldn't take too kindly to being stuck on a floating prison so if I could not get a water taxi to the nearest mainland when I wanted then it would be a hassle for the captain & crew.

        • +2

haha … I probs wouldn't go on a cruise then

          • @Randolph Duke: tee hee …. cruisers were triggered

    • +2

Yes, including holding/gaol-like cells, a safety padded room etc.

    • Why? You want some?

  • +1

How much are the drinks if you don't have the drinks package?

    • +8

      USD
      Beer $8
      Wine 9+
      Cocktails $10-14
      Plus 20% gratuities.
So a beer would be $15 Aud
You would break even after 9 beers. Much faster with cocktails.

      • +1

        Is gratuities/tipping mandatory?

        • +1

Yes, it’s cash free automatically added 20%

          • +13

@Stewardo: What BS. If there's no option then just include it in the normal pricing.

      • Wine $US 9-25. I dont think the gratuities are included in the package? As you say, not that hard to break-even.

        • +3

It also includes soft drinks and tea coffee and water. Which you have to pay for if you don’t have one of the alcohol or soft drink packages. People on here saying that you would have to be an alcoholic to drink that much, it’s for all your drinks. It’s resort pricing and AUD is 63c USD. Most people would get through it easy.

        • +1

Is there a bar fridge in the room? just bring some boxes of Coolabah with you. That's your daily drinks package right there.

          • @AustriaBargain: They search your bags for BYO

            • @Stewardo: Put the bags into a spring water box.

              • +1

@AustriaBargain: and that hasn't been tried before?

                • +2

@Dslrfirst: Put the wine bags inside a larger water bag, seal the bag with some water in it, when they test it water will come out. When you get to cabin tear open the outer bag to release the sweet sweet goon bag.

        • gratuities are included in cruises departing from aus

      • 9 beers a day for 11 days is a lot of drinking. And you aren't even ahead.

  • +3

How many drinks do you think you will be drinking every day? What's the average cost of each drink? Multiply those together and does it come to more than $177?

  • +37

To this day no-one can convince me this isn't just an overpriced floating hotel you're trapped in, destroying oceans as it goes

    • +6

Have you booked a (normal) hotel lately? They are underpriced if anything.

    • destroying oceans as it goes

But but but how else can someone feed their egos and flood Instagram space without these.

  • +1

I am going on the Brilliance to Canada/Alaska next year. Deluxe drinks package is currently (and has been for some time) 'Buy One Get One 50% off', or $133 per day, down from ~$177.

  • +9

package is $177 per day per person

    🤣🤣🤣

    • +3

Yes $177 per day per person in Australian dollars =$112USD. Drinks prices are in USD. Need to compare apples with apples.

  • +1

    Alcoholic's dream….

  • +6

If you buy now (and pay now), you can cancel and re-buy if a cheaper deal comes along.
I have done tham many times with speciality dining / excursions / internet.

I presume you have done your sums and keen on the package.
There is peace of mind with the package knowing you can enjoy a drink/coffe etc without the bill adding up.

My current offer is $124.15 a day ($177.36 less 30%) (not same cruise date, same ship)

  • +3

Pay for one person and you can order enough for both of you to get plastered

    • +9

They make you buy the package for all adults in the same stateroom to try and avoid letting you do this. I think it is also one drink at a time.

      • That seems annoying, my husband doesn’t drink alcohol at all but I like a drink. I would imagine lots of couples are the same.

        • +1

You can ring them direct and say that your partner doesn't drink alcohol (I think they ask why) and you can get one of the non alcoholic drinks packages instead.

          • +3

@Trekky: Just tell them it’s for religion purposes and they will be fine with it

    • once again, and that hasn't been tried before?

      • I don’t know. I don’t do cruises. Would rather spend the same time in Guantanamo Bay than be on a cruise

    • They are on the lookout for this and if you get caught they cancel your package, no refund. It's a big gamble.

  • +10

Gotta have something to wash the gastro tablets down with…

  • The price can change all the time so keep an eye out. They will most likely have black friday sales. I'm also going on Brilliance shortly and it's about 117pp, which is supposedly 30% off, so just keep checking regularly to see if it drops.

  • +20

$177/day for 11 days?! what sort of raging alcoholic would you need to be

    • +1

great deal, who drinks less than 8 a day? that's easy to do.

    • That's two cases of fancy beer and a bottle of scotch a day.

  • +2

Also covers all other drinks etc.

    • +4

Yeah if I pay $177 a day, I am only going to drink alcohol. Not going to fill any precious room in my stomach with water or food for that matter.

  • +17

Imagine spending $1000 in shitty alcoholic drinks just so you can 'save'

  • +27

I don't get why people go on a boat and just drink themselves stupid.
Speaks volumes about the entertainment and what you can get when on a cruise.
And no there's no way that it's worth it. Pushing yourself to drink because you paid for it is ridiculous.

    Just why

    • +4

      Cruise ships = floating RSLs

      • -1

Always the person who's never cruised with that comment. Like everywhere else, what you pay and what cruise you go on determines the level of bogan & oldies.

  • +2

I'm assuming they charge something like $40 a cocktail regularly? I'd do that, what are the customers going to do, jump overboard and swim to another bar?
