  • how can this work with a car vent? the phone with this would be over 300g, most car vents move easily so dont see how can this safely hold the device?

    • +1

Read the reviews, works better than most vent clamps because it holds from behind the vent fins and you can tighten the grip.

      • my question is more about the fact that most vents are quite flimsy and made out of thin plastic and not designed to hold 300g weight.

        • +2

Vents aren't designed to hold any weight, they are there to shift the air.

          • @TEER3X: but doesnt this product attach to the vents?

            • @Omarko: This must wedge into the vent enough so that it can't shut or tilt ? I'm also considering one of these things but not sure. Also, want to have a vent for air!

            • -1

@Omarko: Yes it does. Good observation

    • Maybe watch the video in the listing. The entire attachment part spans over 3 louvres.

    • I have an ESR vent mount. Had a sticky one first for on the dash bit as soon as the sun came out it’d drop off. This one is waaay better. It wedges 2 bits in between the vent slats with a small latch at the back. Actually holds really well. Hasn’t come off once. Only downside I see is that it blocks the vent (I’ve just closed it to avoid the phone getting to hot/ cold).

  • Good deal, this brand makes some decent mounts. Not sure about the charging capabilities, but wouldn't expect much tbh.

    • Advertised everywhere as 15W charger but will 99.9% not charge an iPhone with 15W as nowhere is it mentioned works with MagSafe. That said I would never wirelessly charge a phone in the car, along with GPS and the sun and charging, it’s a recipe for overheating.

      • +1

A vent mounted charger kinda mitigates that, kept it cool just by turning on AC. Got another similar product with strong magnet, holds up pretty well, and can’t live without it now. I have iPhone mini 13, the lighter weight helps keep the phone from falling off, YMMV

        • I think this one doesn't block the vent though, you wouldn't want to do that running the heater anyway.

    • +1

You can buy them on Amazon.

This is the holder I use.

Here is the Magnetic Ring Sticker. It comes with an s series template, as well as iPhone.

My Flip 5 case has a Magnet on there already, but I found the above magnet stronger, as when I was doing Menulog I was getting in and out of the car all the time.

      • -3

ahhh is see, for some reason i thought mag safe was some proprietary apple thing but apparently its just a magnet on a case? well i wont be changing my $90 case just for that lol maybe UAG will start making them one day

  • Is it better than a QuadLock?

      Translates into… Bob

  • +3

Haha 6 seconds into the promo video on the listing photos you can see the guy had bent his lower air vent by throwing the phone at the mount so many times

    • What an amazing observation skill.

Bought one and won’t throw my phone at it :)

    • Hahaha good one

Can someone recommend a stick on magsafe compatible ring ?
Can you use the same ring for a pixel or iPhone ?

    • Magsafe style ring unsure about pixel template though

        • -1

          nobody asked what you cared

    • +1

It comes with a stick on ring by the looks o it.

      • Received and yes it does come with one .

    • -1

The ring for Magsafe is made to a standard size. To fit it on a Pixel, place the ring so that the G logo is in the centre of the ring.

    • -1

Can you use the same ring for a pixel or iPhone ?

I use a ring on a magsafe car holder, works fine. If you get this wireless charger though, the pixel 8 has the wireless coil lower than the G on the back. You'll need to look for a teardown picture to guess where to put the ring. Check out the jerryrigeverything vid and the dbrand ghost case he puts on the phone.

      https://dbrand.com/shop/special-edition/teardown

https://dbrand.com/shop/ghost/pixel-8-pro-clear-cases <== notice how the mag is in the middle of the back between camera bump and bottom. The G is higher.

    • the heat from charging overtime makes the glue from ring stickers come off, be aware you'll suddenly have your phone drop one day.

better to buy a tpu case with the ring built in for your phone from online stores, can be found under ~$5 delivered from the regular chinese merchants.

  • Works ok with pixel 6?

    • Just buy one of the magnetic stickers linked above in my comments. ;)

      • +1

ring stickers come off from the heat overtime and will suddenly drop the phone one day.

its better to buy a case with the ring built in.

        • As stated previously , it actually comes with one in the packaging . All too late now but for future reference .

  • Thanks OP, got one!

  • Did some digging from the reviews and can confirm its not actually 15W MagSafe charging if anyone wonders:

"Not sure if I got a defective unit but this A-Vent Magnetic version does NOT charge at 15w. It literally charges at 4-5% per 30min and this isnt past 80% this is at 50% where its not trickle charging but should be full blown 15w. I havent even tested using my phone for GPS yet but I'm sure that it wouldnt even charge at all and just keep the phone at its current charge level. I've verified my usbc outlet in my car is rated for 60w and my charging cable is rated for 100w so there should be zero throttling. Bought a watt meter and found this doesnt peak past 9watts. I've connected the 100w cable to a 87watt single port PD battery bank and still cannot get this charger past 9watts. Garbage. I'm only keeping it because it’s the perfect mount. I took a volt meter to the charger and it can only pull 9 watts from my 87w PD battery. This thing is false advertising. I’d much like the extra 6watts of charging!"

      • thats cap, I don't use this particular model (can find cheaper alternatives under $20 delivered) but you don't need 15w to charge your device while using gps.

just did a 2 hour drive today, audio book running in the background, brightness 100%, Google maps running and phone charged just fine.

        • I sometimes drive for a 20 mins or so trip and my phone can charged from 20% to like close to 80% with a cable charge via pd and I found that pretty helpful personally. I guess I am sticking to fast charge for now

            • -1

@G-rig: cars have had built in Bluetooth for decades now, theres no need for any carplay stuff. and your claims that wireless charging cant keep up is false and groundless.

              • @[Deactivated]: Mate, i'm not in the apple ecosystem but wireless carplay sounded alright for vehicles that support it:
                https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/iphone/iph6860e6b53/io…

Note: Some vehicles that support wireless CarPlay allow you to pair simply by plugging iPhone into your vehicle’s USB port using a Lightning or USB-C to USB cable. If supported, after you start CarPlay using USB, you’re asked if you want to pair wireless CarPlay for future use. If you agree, the next time you go for a drive, iPhone connects wirelessly to CarPlay automatically.

My point was that cable is faster charging,

                Fast charging7 – up to 50% charge in about 30 minutes7 – using Google 30W USB-C® Charger with USB-PD 3.0 (PPS) sold separately

                Test it yourself :)
