2023 TPG Mobile Coverage Advice

Hi all,

I'm looking to save some money on my mobile situation. I've spotted some good deals on TPG mobile (I don't need a lot of data, as I'm almost always close to wifi).

Has anyone used their network recently? I can see a post on here from a few years back https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/383795 but it's very outdated.

Their service mapping shows pretty good coverage for areas I would frequent- but real world performance can/does vary with all tech.

Appreciate any first or second hand recent experiences.

Cheers!

  • Really hard to say without giving us an approximate area as the network quality will change depending on that. TPG use Vodafone network which can be good in some areas terrible in others generally though they are fine in most cities.

  • Coles Mobile has a $99 per year deal for 60GB of data. Cheaper than TPG and probably better coverage considering it is on the Optus network.

  • Network coverage is 100% YMMV situation.

I didn't like vodafone much back in Adelaide, but now that I am in Sydney riding T4 train line to work everyday, vodafone has the best reception and best upload speed period.

though lately the voice quality on Lebara (or vodafone) become super crap, but at least the internet is still decent….

if you really want to know what network's like for each provider, just buy a monthly sim, port over and try it.

Coles Mobile have $10 sim most of the time,
lebara have $4~$7 discounted sim a lot of the time
Vodafone/Optus occationally have $10~$15 sim you can buy.
    Boost have cashback profit deals

  • +1

TPG is vodafone and has (probably sill the same) the least coverage of the three Mobile networks in OZ.

In Sydney the speed and coverage is good is some areas and bad in others. Would the the same in any major OZ city. Get a cheap SIM card when on special at Colesworth and give it a go before you commit to anything or port your number.

  • watch out for their $10 port out fee and $10 sim replacement fee

surely there's got to be someone better than TPG
