I remember 4080 being $1599 and was still over priced

    • +1

Only bearable deal has been the 4070ti's for just over a grand. More than a decent upgrade for people still on 1000/2000.

12gb's of vram is enough for the current AAA's and it's pretty fast.

Nearly double that price for the 4080 screams you're getting fisted.

    HODL for 4080 Super!

    • true!

    • +8

it'd probably reset the price to the original 4080 Aus MSRP - $2219

    • +5

HODL because regardless this a bad deal. I am a little pessimistic about the 4080 S but Nvidia is totally free to change my mind. My gut says they launch it next year at $1400 US to fill the gap between the 4080 and 4090.

      • +1

If its just a simple refresh then I'd imagine the price would actually drop and basicslly replace the 4080. $1000 usd would make sense if it ends up still being the ad103 core with 16gb. A small 10% increasee in performance with a 20% decrease in price would embarrass the xtx and look like nvidia is giving us a good deal even though $1,000 is still over priced. The only way it will go up in price or remain the same is if they go ad102 and 20gb with performance much closer to the 4090 but i dont see them doing this since the 4090 still sells well snd ad102 is used in their other much more expensive cards

      This

if anything like the past, retailers will get rebates to sell off the old 4080s..probably making them down to 1000 USD or less..

    • Do we even know if those will be good? The 2080 Super was barely better than a 1080ti, would it not make sense to expect a 4080S to be on par with a 3080ti?

They're a small computer store located inside a shopping centre in Carlingford that's been there since 2000.

Their website design has not changed since 2004 but they are a legit business.

        • LOL….

      • The Actual shops, about 5000 percent more sketchy

Dude speaks probably 3 possibly 4 words of english…mainly No warranty, and Cash, and leave

but yeah they usually do have stock

        • Reminds me of another store that used to be in Carlingford

  • Decent price but agreed that ppl should hold for the Super. I got this card and it performs flawlessly so far.

  • +7

This isn't a deal worth jumping on. HODL

  • +8

Not a deal, actually more expensive than recent sales.

  • When will GPUs come back to around the $1000 mark for the top of the range? It's getting stupid expensive now.

    • +5

It's only going to get more expensive

    • -3

Years at least. Nvidia has ~85% market share now and it's increasing. So until AMD gets its head out of its ass or Intel fires their diversity hire software team, prices will only get higher.

      • Damn, this is so bad and hardly legal.

  • I'm going to buy this to play Alan Wake 2.

  • Seems like a lot of stock just landed in AU lately on 4080s, as prices in the last week have been coming down (nothing was sub 2k but now that easy to beat). Definitely hold out at this price, they can do better ;)

I’m be been tracking the prices of 4080’s in particular for the last 6-8 months and it’s been the opposite. A couple months before EOFY the 4080 dropped as low as $1499 and saw regular sales in the $1600-1700 range. If anything the price has clearly jumped closer to the absurd MSRP.

      • +1

yup similar trend across 4070 ti and 4090. it could be that they are jacking up prices prior to 40 series super refresh, and then later we’ll get a “price drop” back to what they used to cost a couple months ago.

      • I remember a time when the price of products (not groceries) stayed the same and there was not nearly as much shifty bs going on. Now it's: product A costs $100 in January. In February it's $260. In June it goes down to $230! So sick of prices changing all the time it's too bloody difficult to keep track of.

        • It sucks. Graphics cards in particular are a blankly inflated market and both AMD and Intel are jumping on the opportunity to profit greatly from it

          • @AlexMX: Yep. And we can't do anything about it because there's no competition! Intel are getting their graphics cards going but they're still not comparable to nvidia yet.

  • +3

this isn't a deal. they've been $200 cheaper then this. if you've waited this long why not wait for the 4080 super ? or the black friday sales which is only a little over 3 weeks away. the 4080 is terrible for anything close to this price imo. $1,300 max is what i'd pay for this

    • +1

I'd vouch on shops increasing the price before black Friday, then they drop the price and it ends up costing more than the previous low. Dodgy business tactics really wouldn't surprise me at all, with how rife it is.

  • how is the cooling performance of this PNY card in general?

  • is that 1 a typo?
