nice. was waiting for this to come around! good calendars, been using them for the past 3-4yrs.

how do you not know if its 3 or 4 years when thats what calendars are for

      • Time to mark October–November to get the 2025 calendar, going by OzBargain post history

        • Well this is that one deal where I really feel guilty getting the free calendar and then not giving the donation requested in the accompanying card. I'll skip this year, hands in OzB membership 🙃

Martin Luther - a great man in history. I went to a Lutheran primary school, good people.
    I'll gladly take a calendar.

    • +10

Good to see some love for a REAL person who made a difference.

    • Notorious anti semite too. What a great man am I right?

    • -1

Historians believe his work significantly contributed to the underpinnings of anti-Semitism in Germany and the formation of the Nazi party. I guess that is a significant place in history, but can't really call it "great"…

      • +1

considering Nazi's burnt bibles - I'd take that with a pinch of salt.
I think there was a lot more to what lead to the nazi party than religion.

Many factors contributed to the various stances taken by lutheran individuals toward the nazi part. Some supported, others resisted. I dont think there was a uniform response from the Lutheran community as a whole.

There was a lot of anti-Semitism through history, Luther was against Jews, which at the time there was more friction between religions than there is even now. Nazi's seemed to be cherry picking to suit their agenda.

        • The idea that the Nazis persecuted Christians and burned bibles doesn't stack up. Himmler has a thing for bringing all the churches into a Nazi church, but most of the rest of the party was against that and resisted it, choosing to stick with their churches.

The vast majority of the bibles burnt were hebrew bibles.

There is a whole wikipedia page about his antisemitism. He wrote about it in books.

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Luther_and_antisemitism

Great man in your eyes though!

Does it arrive by post or with wise men, who also follow a star?

    • Maybe on Christmas eve

    • +8

Silly question. Where are you going to find 3 wise men these days?

      • +3

        Jerusalem.

@WinstonWithAY: Autocorrect man… I know the difference. Can't edit it after replies.

I should ask him to help you stop being so patronising.

@Misha Bakunin: Making a Reddit tier atheist less patronising and more likable is beyond even God's power, I fear.

I saw more cases of a grown man making little girls cry in one year of Lutheran school than in my entire life before or since.

    • More context?
They were all karens? And the teacher was disciplining them?

      • One example was a girl received a chain letter, saying it was part of some project to spread happiness or whatever. Everyone asked her to send them a copy, it was all just a lot of fun. Then a few days later the principal came into the class holding one of the letters and started off calm, then progressed into a screaming rant about how the letters are evil and must be stopped, like red in the face screaming, pounding hard on the teacher's desk, tearing the letter up. Everyone in the class was frightened but the girl who got the original letter was sobbing, tears flooding out of her eyes, but the time he stormed out of the classroom. Probably these days when every kid has a video camera in their pocket this wouldn't happen, but at the time teachers and the principal could do whatever they wanted. And none of the teachers dare defy the principal, if the principal wanted to say it never happened and he was calm the whole time, then basically it never happened and he never even raised his voice and the kids were lying.

        • +1

With great power comes great responsibility.
People do abuse this on occasion.

        • There were, and maybe still are, a lot of adults who should never have become teachers and don't even or ended up not liking children; some of the worst examples being elderly Nuns or gym teachers.
Many had other issues going on in their lives and vented it in the classroom.

  • +1

This is still in stock. Just got one with a donation.

Did they add the donation requirement because they were being ozbargained?
