This one beats the post from yesterday which was price matching Amazon. That deal has expired, since Amazon have increased their price.

But now if you price match the Sony A7 III on the Sony Store with the DigiDirect eBay store that currently has the camera listed for $1999.20 (after applying the DIGINOV23 coupon code) you can stack it with the 10% off New MySony Customer discount/coupon code and also the $400 Cashback via online redemption from Sony.

This will bring the price down to $1399.28 (after cashback redemption and MySony Discount) which is a historical low for a very decent full frame camera.

Note: The MySony 10% off discount will NOT void the Sony Cashback as mentioned by @moomoo who has confirmed with a live chat agent. I have also submitted a claim for a Sony GM lens which was price matched and stacked with MySony discount and I got my cashback approved from Sony

Cashrewards/Shopback will likely not track or be approved if you use the MySony Coupon Code as per the terms and conditions.

  • i was going to say, just get the a74. However, $1399.28 is a pretty decent deal - if you get that price!

    • it is like $500 lower than previous lowest

  • +2

can definitely recommend at 1399 - cannot believe it has held value for so long. absoloutey bonkers. had mine since release and paid circa 18xx

For anyone wondering how to get this price matched and get the 10% off MySony discount, here are the steps I've followed on previous price match to Sony eBay Store

    1. Create a new MySony Account on this page and make sure to tick the “ I consent to receiving promotional and other marketing messages from Sony” otherwise you wont receive the 10% off welcome voucher code.
    2. Submit a price match request on this page by pressing the request price match button underneath the add to cart button. Make sure to use the same email that you used to create the MySony account for the price match because they add this to your cart with the adjusted price. Also don’t remove this from your cart once it has been price matched, otherwise if you remove it and try to add it back the price will reset.
    3. Once you submit the price request, use the live chat function (during business hours) to ask someone to price match the product. Just send them the eBay store link and mention that it is cheaper by $499.8 with the coupon code. They will ask you to submit a price match request form which you have already done. Just tell them that you have already submitted and they will search for your request and approve.
    4. You will receive a Welcome to Sony email with a one time 10% off coupon, enter this at the checkout to reduce the price
    5. Some people had issues checking out with a credit card initially, so it is recommended to use PayPal. I’ve used a debit card and PayPal and both work fine.
    • +3

I followed these instructions recently, and the live chat person just told me that the price match had been submitted and would be assessed rather than verifying it at the time. They said an email would be sent for confirmation.

The email was sent the next morning, saying that the price match was not valid as the price had changed, but gave me the option to send a screenshot or photo, which I unfortunately didn't get.

I'd suggest getting a screenshot if you are trying to get Sony to price match.

  • $1400 is a pretty hard deal to beat

  • Good price. Was hoping to adopt the same method for some e-mount lenses but looks like some are significantly more than their direct website. I did find the Sony 15mm F1.4 G lens for $755 using the method which is pretty good.

    • +2

You just need to be aware that the Sony15mm F1.4 G is an APS-C lens.

      • Thanks for pointing that out. You're right! Something to be mindful of. I forgot as I'm actually shopping for a lens for my aps-c ZV-E10. I'm waiting out for a good deal on a Sigma 18-50 f2.8 - hopefully black friday.

    • 20-70/4 G can be discounted a bit

      • Whats the best you have seen? I've seen about 1399

  • similar minds do similar things! I was doing exactly the same yesterday and today, was surprised no one posted this yet (and I was too busy at work)

    • Did you end up getting it for this price though? Sony didn't price match the eBay voucher coded price for me even after a couple of chat attempts. Just waste of my time.. ended up buying from Digidirect eBay

      • +1

nah, decided I can't be bothered. I had A7iii two times already and relationship didn't last. Now I am on Nikon Z6, and I am happy with everything (same sensor actually!), don't want to move.

      • hmm, I price matched 3 items. maybe try again today

        • Wait, are you saying you price matched the ebay Digidirect price of $1999 three times? I tried many times but wasn't successful. They don't seem to price match prices that are after discount codes.. Anyone has got any luck with this? I didn't see anyone in this thread actually confirming the deal works.

          • @npnp: sorry, no this camera the 7c ii and two different lenses

  • $1400 for this is a crazy bargain deal!

I paid $1700 in June this year (Sony Price Match eBay Digidirect w/ $400 cashback) which I thought was a good deal. This is slightly different price with the extra 10% new customer deal which didn't exist earlier in the year.

  • how can I apply price match?
    I did but nothing happen..

    • You have to try and live chat with them to get the request approved faster. See instructions here

Live chat function is available once you go onto the Sony Store, you will see a black chat icon pop up in the bottom right hand corner.

Just wondering if price match at JB hifi(Wish to spend my 15% off gift card), am I still eligible for the $400 cash back? I read the T&Cs of the cashback promotion, there is one sentence in term 4 saying

"the purchase must not have been made under any other offer or discount provided by a participating Sony Australia authorised dealer".

Is price matching considered an offer or discount? Actually I am not even sure price matching at Sony official store would be eligible for the $400 cashback. Can somebody confirm this? Thank you.

    • Looking to do the same thing.

      • I just contacted JB hifi they won't price match with eBay lol

        • I think we can be more patient, after all, we have a 15% off gift card in hand. I believe that before Black Friday arrives, besides eBay, there will definitely be other platforms that will directly reduce prices.

        • price match at sony online store. once you cart is price matched go to jb and ask to price match that price. no need to mention eBay.

    • 100% Price matching at Sony store is eligible for the cashback promotion. I used this earlier in the year.

They might however knock you back because the "10% new customer discount" is applied and they could try void your claim because of that.

All purchases from JBHIFI would be eligible for the cashback promotion as long as the discount is coming from JBHIFI and not Sony. e.g. JBHIFI have a long running deal that you get 15% off lenses with the purchase of a DSLR/Mirrorless Body. The cashback offer would still be applied to this.

      • Thank you very much for your reply. I do believe they won't approve the cashback if using the 10% new customer discount as it states clearly under the cashback T&Cs that "the purchase must not have been made under any other offer or discount provided by a participating Sony Australia authorised dealer".
I think OP should edit the post otherwise people will be misled and spend $400 more than what they thought.

        • The T&Cs aren’t very clear and doesn’t seem to point directly to the MySony discount. If they stated or referred to this point directly, then they could void the claim but considering it’s too vague, it could be harder for them to reject.

Also the tax invoice they send you doesn’t even show the 10% off MySony Discount, so you could get away with it depending on how much they dig into the details of a claim.

You could confirm this with a live chat agent but if you are still unsure you can use Cashrewards 10% Cashback and not use the Coupon code at all. You would still end up with the same price without the added risk of the Sony Cashback being voided.

  • Which lens to go for? Can’t figure it out? Most likely everyday/travelling use case.

    • I’m looking for Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 for my all rounder lens

      • Thanks.

      • That’s pretty expensive. 🙃

        • if your going for travel, you want to look at the 28-70mm f2.8 from sigma or the newest g master. G master is way pricier but the sigma 24-70mm is quite hefty compared to the 28-70. I have the 24-70 and considering swapping down to the 28-70 as its half the weight. apparently the weather sealing isnt AS good but its still there

    • Depends entirely on what type of photos you want to take - landscape, portraits, low light, sports. For travelling a zoom lens is convenient but i find them boring and prefer to use primes even though there is more to carry

      • When I say travelling, most likely portraits of family. Some scenery and etc.

    • +2

      Depends on your budget.

I have the 24-105mm f/4 G which I got for $1,100 (discount plus stacked cashback). It was the best all rounder recommended lens without breaking the bank.

      • This seems like the sweet spot for an all round lens. Not too big, heavy or expensive. Good quality and useful range.

        • I have that lens and find it pretty big and heavy 🥲 but I suppose no other lighter alternatives unless going down to 24-70 or 28-70

          • +1

            @portard: Sigma 28-70 f/2.8 470g
            Sony 20-70 f/4 488g
            Canon 24-70 f/4 600g
            Sony 24-105 f/4 663g
            Sony 24-70 f/2.8 695g
            Nikon 24-120 f/4 710g
            Canon 24-105 f/4 795g
            Canon 24-70 f/2.8 805g
            Sigma 24-105 f/4 885g
            Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 905g
            Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 1070g

It's not too bad compared to other similar alternatives. I shot on a D700/24-70 VR for 15 years. Swapped to an A7/24-105 combo and it's literally 1kg lighter.

  • I got the A7IV last week and am absolutely loving it so far with a 85mm f/1.8 and 24-105mm f/4.

Though I bought it for over $2800 and I was just wondering if I should return it and get this A7III instead for half the price. I had a look at the specs and I don’t think I’ll be losing out on too much. What do you guys think? I’m primarily taking stills.

    • keep the a7IV

  • I believe the 10% off new customer offer will make the cashback ineligible, can OP confirm that Sony will approve the cashback with the new customer offer used?

It states clearly under the cashback T&Cs that "the purchase must not have been made under any other offer or discount provided by a participating Sony Australia authorised dealer".

Got this camera last year. Combined with price match and Amex cashrewards and also cashrewards, price was down to roughly $1360. Not a bad price this time.

  • Did anyone have luck with Sony price matching eBay coded prices? I'm not having any luck with the chat team..

    • nope. Tried with two different ppl, didn’t work

      • -2

That's what I thought. All this hassle to gain 10% for Sony signup and you're risking $400 for $200 gain so I'd ended up buying from Digidirect eBay store.

    • I’ve been successful with 4 price matches and never had any issues with their live chat team. I even managed to do a similar price match with the Sony A7 IV today using the Digi direct eBay code. Others seem to be have been successful in price matching for this camera based on the comments below.

DM if you still need assistance in the price match.

  • -3

Have you guys noted that the code on digiDirect eBay store is DIGINOV23, and here is the link of the cashback T&Cs,
    https://scene.sonyanz.com/redemptions/sony-australia-bonus-c…
The last slug is sony-australia-bonus-cashback-promotion-nov-23. Notice the nov-23 in it? They are the same thing!
It means digiDirect eBay store has already deduct the $400 cashback for you. You simply cannot pricematch a price after cash back and claim cashback again.

An alternative solution would be price match at JBhifi with Georges Camera, they are selling at 2299
    https://www.georges.com.au/products/sony-a7-iii-mirrorless-d…

After 15%off JB giftcard the price down to $1954, then minus the $400 cashback, it would be 1554 something out of pocket.
This post is misleading and very dangerous if you use the 10% off new customer offer as they will completely reject your cashback claim according to the cashback T&Cs.

    • +1

      That is not completely correct
Ebay price is not be including cashback and cash back will not be paid out by any reseller
Connecting two codes because of similarly is misleading
However sony could reject casback due to the 10% voucher.

  • at 1399, it is a fantastic camera for still

  • -1

nikon Z6 has the same sensor, but somehow manages to be a better stills camera (had both). better menu, more comfortable build, ergonomics, menu, color science

I did this 2 times already on Ozbargain: price matched A7iii on Sony, stacked with Sony cashback and cash rewards, but both times they didn't last long enough - sold them on, with a little profit even.

reason? Sony kinda suck in product design and color science for stills. there are good lenses but the lens line-up isn't thought through, for what I do I find it hard to find lenses that give me picture quality I want without breaking the bank

while Nikon has less lenses, the range is balanced and each lens is a gem. well the only one I don't like is their 24-120/4 which normally would be the lens to leave on your camera most of the time. it's not bad, but it has a few caveats, Sony and Canon 24-105/4 offerings are a bit more balanced and dependable. oh well nothing is ideal in this world lol

    • I beg to differ. Yes, they both have the same sensor (sensor made by Sony by the way) but very different approaches from the two Camera manufacturers. It does not make sense to conclude that Sony sells their sensors for Nikon to produce better use of them while themselves failing to do that..

From my understanding; Sony focuses more on the low light performance and dynamic range on A7iii using this particular sensor while Nikon is more focused on colour science. Well, I personally put much emphasis on the low light performance and dynamic range compared to colour science.. Colour science I can do something about in post-processing. But low light performance or dynamic range, I almost can't do anything after the fact. I respect someone else's priority being colour science over the above two but in my opinion, Sony took the approach I value the most and that's exactly why I find myself coming back to Sony over and over (despite not being a fan of Sony colours).

See facts: refer to DXO mark for Sensor scores. Sony A7III scores considerably higher in low light ISO (almost similar to those numbers of A7S series - the low light monster) and Nikon Z6 scores a little high in colour depth scores.

      • I have been very happy with the low light output from Z6, so I can't say I totally agree. I do a lot of low light work, so it matters to me a lot.

I was struggling to find a good wide angle lens for Sony, while on Nikon I have 14-30/4 which doesn't have any match in Sony lineup, I do most of low light wide angle

        • Sony line up have many (better) lenses to cover what you want (12-24 F2.8 GM - very expensive but a brilliant lens for low light, Sigma 14-24 F4, Sony 12-24 F4, if a bit narrow field is preferred then 16-35 F4, 17-28 F2.8 Tamron etc); I'm not sure how you achieve good low light with F4 lens though.

Being a full-frame camera, and one with a brilliant Sony sensor, of course Z6 has good low-light performance. But it's not as good as Sony A7iii that's all.

Next time you buy a Sony A7iii for comparison's sake, try to capture a low-light scene with the same F number, the Same focal length, the same shutter speed, the same exposure etc, but with auto ISO and compare the same set-up with Z6. Then you'll see what I'm talking about (I've done this so I know, only one beat A7iii was A7S when I compared). Basically, A7iii photo will come up with a lower ISO compared to Z6 photo (in other words, Z6 photo will be noisier). This is less important if you shoot with a tripod with higher exposure time, locked in lower ISO etc but in my case I do a lot of handheld photography and low-light performance with highest shutter speed possible is very important.

          • @npnp: I do a lot of architecture with not a lot of natural light, and often have no time to set up tripod and do a long exposure, so it's handheld

14mm on the wide end is great and I wouldn't trade it in for 16 minimum. new 16-35 F4 came out after I got rid of the last A7iii, and the old Zeiss one was good but not stellar, won't compare to Nikon 14-30. I would consider trying new 16-35 f4 G but it's power zoom plus I'll lose 14-15mm

12-24 yes but too expensive. got my 14-30 F4 for $1k that's kinda hard to beat. Sigma/Tamron I don't like how they handle, also I like keeping to native glass as much as possible

I get clean enough shots to work with at F4, no problem there.

that's OK, each to his own. I definitely won't go back due to reasons outlined above. I make a lot of shots that just get dumped on the phone, slightly touched up and on to instagram or shared with family or friends, need good color science for that - most of the time zero touch up is required with Nikon, it's just good SOOC. couldn't say that about Sony, I tried to tweak it many times.

also their product design just doesn't win any points from me, that goes about camera bodies, lenses, menu, etc. plus weather sealing on Nikon is more convincing than on a7iii

plus on sony lineup the true macro option is a 90/2.8, while Nikon has remarkable 105/2.8, I strongly prefer this FOV, works wonders for portraits, too. I thought sony 90/2.8 was sharpest lens ever created but Nikon 105/2.8 is a head above in every sense. that lens is enough to hold me in Nikon space alone.

  • Paid $1799.28 after price match and 10% discount, hope they will accept $400 cash back claim later.

    • Nice! Did you have to go through live chat for them to approve it after you sent the price match request or did you just wait for the price match to come through in your email? I requested the price match yesterday night but I’m still waiting for it to come through…

      • I had to go through chat, waited almost 2 hrs on the queue. I told them i have submitted multiple price match request but got no updates. I want to purchase today then they price matched straightaway. They just asked link and my email.

        • Sweet, thanks for that info. I’ll try that! Congrats on the new cam.

          • @Negsii: Thanks, best of luck 👍

            • +3

@Aviros: Update for anyone still trying to get it:
Went through live chat but they said they couldn’t do it for me since pre sales needed to approve it and all those live chat agents were busy, they told me to call 1300 137 669 .

Called the number, and managed to get it price matched on the phone, told them I had been waiting for 2 days. They sorted it out straight away and within 10min I had it in my basket.

The person on the phone also told me I could use the 10% off new user coupon and still be eligible for the Sony cash back.

Hope that helps anyone still trying to get it price matched!

              • +1

@Negsii: Thanks for the update. I did the same. And succeeded.

    • Any reason why they wouldn’t honour cash back?
This is what worries me and tempted to go through eBay for certainty about cash back..

      • +2

Very tiny chance. Their T&Cs are very vague and nothing points to voiding Cashback if you use MySony 10% discount. You could argue if they do decline, but worst case scenario you can return your order within 30 days under their satisfaction guarantee if your Cashback gets voided.

Also if you decide you don’t want to risk the 10% off coupon code there is 10% Cashback via Cashrewards you can use instead. But this expires today

        • Just purchased
Will submit Cashback when receive invoice fingers crossed
          Insane deal thank you

          Now onto lenses… eep

          • +1

@avinit86: FYI After registering my Sony camera, Sony sent me a $100 discount code, for minimum spend $500, on my next accessories purchase (including lens).

        • you can return your order within 30 days under their satisfaction guarantee

Just sharing my experience, Sony counts 30 days from the transaction date, not dispatch date. My a7c II camera was back ordered and arrived 1 month after, by then every store was discount by 10% so I asked to return it unopened. The hard arsed CS kept declining citing that my 30 days window started from the transaction date despite me showing proof that I am within 3 days from the date on the invoice (dispatch date). WTF.

  • “ Thanks for requesting a price match with Sony, we are unable to provide a price match as it falls under an exclusion of our price match terms and conditions, your request has not been accepted.

Hey all just thought Id let you know, I asked a live chat agent, if I use the 10% welcome coupon on top of the price match if id still be eligible for the for the $400 cashback, they just said "yes"

    • Thanks for confirming for us! Will update the main deal with a note mentioning this.

  • +3

Bought one yesterday. Price match +10% welcome voucher + Cashreward 2%. now waiting to redeem the $400 Cashback. Thank you!

  • Can someone confirm the eBay coupon still works for the Digidirect store? coz for me it says "This code can't be applied to your order.".

    • Should work for this camera. There are likely some excluded items. What are you trying to buy?

      • I just followed the same link in the description and tried to apply the coupon for the A7 Mark III but still getting the same message.

      • Does the coupon code require an eBay plus account?

        • Definitely not eBay Plus only offer. Everyone is eligible for the offer. Just tested this on two accounts, one which is not eBay plus and both were able to apply the discount.

I’m not sure what’s happening with your code. Also are you looking to price match this at Sony? If so you don’t need to worry about the code working. They can see the price by just clicking on the eBay link, it appears above the postage details.

          • @TechNerd: I signed out from my eBay account and proceeded to check out as a guest in private browsing mode. After doing that coupon worked. Now waiting for the price match from Sony. Will keep you updated on how it goes.

          • @TechNerd: I was able to get the price match for the camera body without any issues. The welcome bonus coupon can also be applied to the order without problems. And a Sony chat representative confirmed that cashback can also be applied with the price match and welcome bonus.

Further, I used Cashrewards and was able to get a 2% cashback, too. (Pending Approval from Sony.)

It was a pretty good deal for me. Thank you for posting in the first place.

  • Just ordered the camera and 35 GM. Camera is in stock but lens is back order.

    • Hi, were you able to apply the coupon code on eBay for the camera?

      • followed steps by TechNerd above

  • Subbed my claim yesterday and was just was just aproved, so you all should be good

Hi all thought I'd share another success story here

Manage to get a price match for Digidirect's eBay store to $1999.20

Saved another 10% off creating a MySony account taking the total to $1799.28

Additionally used cash rewards to save another 2% off taking $32.71 off the total (They might be using pre-tax values since my calculations were a bit different)

And I've just got approval for the $400 cashback which takes the total down to $1366.57

    • +1

Additionally used cash rewards to save another 2% off taking $32.71 off the total

You will not get CR cash back if using discount code. Been discussed many times on OB. Latest Proof.

  • Just to verify, has to be price matched, buying through ebay with discount will void the cashback?

    • Buying through eBay will still make you eligible for cashback as Digidirect is an authorised seller. But if you price match the eBay store + Coupon code with Sony website, you can also get an additional 10% off with MySony new account discount.

      • my only concern is this part of the T&C's : "the purchase must not have been made under any other offer or discount provided by a participating Sony Australia authorised dealer". Digidirect is, i would have assumed once price matched with a store wide discount via digidirect-ebay it would be flagged as ineligible.

I'll give the step-by-step instructions above ago.

        Thanks for your response.

        • Invoice wont show any discount.

        • Usually invoices provided by Digidirect on eBay won't show any discount and will just have the price before coupon code on the tax invoice.

If you are price matching the digidirect eBay price on the Sony online store, I can confirm that I have had my cashback approved for a GM lens even after price matching and using MySony 10% discount.

        • Ended up going through the forementioned process. This would/will make a fantastic upgrade. Looking forward to wearing it like an accessory rofl.

My first camera was a non-pro sony, and the shots were so vivid and clear, went down the path of a 60d thinking it would be a step up. Looking forward to testing out not only a quality sony, but my first non-mirror, which like eggs is good once again.

  • Wow this camera held value really well.. Sony really knocked it out of the park with this when it was first released.

    • They sure did, it was already on the mark 3 in 2018, before Nikon announced their first ever mirrorless later in the same year.

It's literally 5 years ahead of the game, so not surprised it is still competitive in 2023.

      • The only issue with mine is that sometimes the shutter button gets a bit sticky and takes 2 photos with one press. Not necessarily a bad thing since I always take multiple pictures but hopefully it's an easy fix.
