Reddit Accounts Scouting OzBargain Accounts

I had an interesting encounter on reddit today.

A newish user (3 months old) started a chat with me saying

"Hello,

I came across your shared discounts on Ozbargain, would you be interested in participating in an event?💐"
"Would you like to share information about our discounts? We can offer you our products or compensation. We want to assure you that the discounts we provide are exclusively unique and offer the lowest prices across all platforms."

Has anyone experienced this? Ads another layer to spammers and scams.

    If "the discounts we provide are exclusively unique and offer the lowest prices across all platforms" why don't they just make an account and post the deal themselves?

      They are usually spamazon sellers, and the same type of merchants that offer people free stuff in exchange for 5 star reviews on Amazon so they can game the store algorithm. These are clandestine operations since they don't want Amazon to know that they are essentially buying reviews, and have their stores banned.

      If you receive any messages or unsolicited PM's either via social media or on Ozbargain, from merchants asking you to post in return for freebies or discounts, please report it via TWAM. Or you can pass the message to any of the mods here.

      Please don't post the deal for your own personal gain — you'll just be giving the spamazon sellers a free pass to work their way around store bans and other restrictions.

    I actually like ads. I can’t rely solely on OzBargain to tell me what to buy… 🤷🏻‍♀️

    I got a pm from someone on here saying they would give me a $5 Uber gc if I signed up to some website using their referral.. felt weird so I ignored it. Couple of days later they messaged again saying “what, you don’t want free money?”
