Can we still buy a new iPhone 3

Hubby has the iPhone 3 and loves it, and doesnt see the need to spend more money to get a 4 or 5.
He is a very low user, and doesnt play with his iPhone much.
Had been looking at Kogan and all that but it seems that they dont sell it.
There are people on eBay or Gumtree who claim to have refurbished but would rather go with someone reputable.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    seriously??

    • Haha, yes seriously. He is a dinosaur in some ways.

  • A local post office had them a few weeks ago postcode 6107.

    not cheap though

  • Big W have a clearance sale right now on the 3 prepaid telstra for $387 online only.

    http://www.bigw.com.au/electronics/mobile-phones-internet/pr…

    • Sold out if you can believe that.

A bit extra will get the iPhone 4 8GB, though you may have to hunt around. possibly issue is Optus network locking.

      • What does it mean by Prepaid?
Can he still have his mobile number?
Does he has to change provider?
Call rates for prepaid will be very expensive isnt it?

        • You can still use your sim card but it has to be on the Optus network since the phone is locked to optus. What Sim card are you planning on using?

if your on the optus network, you can just place your current sim into the phone and keep your plan, mobile number etc.. If you're not with optus, you need to unlock the phone first or join optus

        • It's with iiNet at the moment, which is Optus to my understanding.
          So no need to unlock??
          How about the call charges?

        • There is no need to unlock the phone. call charges will remain the same because you are still using the same plan, its just a different phone

      • A bit extra will get the iPhone 4 direct from Apple store (not 4S, just 4)
White is $449, unlocked, Free Shipping

        • That would explain the clearance price.

I think you are MUCH better off paying an extra $50 for the HTC One X
    http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/htc-one-x-white/

Top of the range (or near enough) product vs a 4yo product. The choice is easy.

iOS v Android. Apples and oranges.

Some people just prefer one OS over the other. I agree though that the 3 is getting a bit long in the tooth.

You make an appointment online at Apple. You go there with your phone. They will replace it for a fee about $200 - $250 for an Apple refurbished model which will look like new.

Not sure if they still do it for the 3 though.

Actually the most you will pay is about $180 to get a new replacement 3gs from apple.. i had an old 3gs that was getting a bit used so i took it into apple, asked for a new one. 3 mins & $180 later i had a new phone for my old man.

        • Thanks. Had booked Genius bar.

Well, I suppose after 3 years, the Guardian Angel looks after us.
We told them that the iPhone 3 has been good, except it would suddenly die on us, and battery will go flat after 1 day.
The good young guy at the AppleStore checked the good old iPhone 3, and said that there was a memory problem etc etc, and then said it's our lucky day, but sorry that he couldnt get an iPhone 3 but had to give us a 4.
    And the rest is history.

    • I gotmy Iphone 3,its has been repair.i still like the old model cos good quality.I will give it a try.I willing to pay extra with the brand new one
