Suggestions on Gaming Laptop - $2k

I am wanting a decent gaming laptop for 2k and below, I have seen the Lenovo deals but am not wanting the 4-5 week wait time.

I am looking at the following and not sure whether to wait for black friday deals to pop up?

Is this laptop worth it or should I wait a few more weeks to see what better deals come out?

Don't FOMO into a purchase. There's always more specials around the corner, but you did say you're not wanting to wait a month. Something else to take into account is cashbacks. Lenovo currently have a 14% from CashRewards (again) or talk to customer service. Tell them your options from competitors, they may make you a personalized deal.
Ask Mwave if they can beat the price, the worst they can say is no.

  • Its not so much FOMO, I work FIFO and am bored endlessly at night so wanting a decent laptop to kill time ASAP. I am more trying to determine if this laptop I have shown is actually a good price. I am undecided on rtx 3070 vs rtx 4060, from research the 3070 appears to be better. As for 12th gen vs 13th gen I am not sure if these make too much difference? If I am patient the black friday deals in two weeks will most probably net me a better deal, but if it's not by much then I would go for this.

I am considering it but have seen others suggest that the build quality of this MSI breed is sub-par, do you have much experience with the lower end of MSI models?

        • Unfortunately not. I've only had Lenovo laptops, and not for gaming. I've had MSI motherboards though and love them.

        • hey mate. I used to be FIFO and always had a gaming laptop with me for this reason. definitely try go thin and light as possible due to the bloody airport scanners always needing you to take it out of the bag. trust me gets annoying, avoid anything 17"

I got my mrs that Katana recently and its actually pretty decent, on a good sale probably even your best FIFO option since as you would know, can get a little beat up and dusty if you're in the pilbara red or similar

the screen isnt the greatest overall, but its actually fine and if you turn out the lights in your room/donga will be fine i reckon. especially if you're pretty much ONLY gonna be using it on site

  • Save a little bit more and wait for this - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/810158

  • Lenovo is worth the wait. Check out their ebay deals, eg https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/394646569690?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…

I would personally go the 4060 as the heat output is significantly less.

  • Damn I would have jumped at that 7i Pro for 2.3k, would arrive before I next travel too. Is there any others not OOS worthwhile? @Hellfire I'm not too familiar with AMD, is it worth the extra for 4070 vs 4060?

    • Add it to watchlist in Ebay, it will likely have more stock added again soon.

It's best to check benchmarks. That AMD is about the same as a mid-high range Intel. More than enough for gaming which is usually more GPU dependent. At $1949 it's just below budget - you'd need to stretch to get anything better.

4070 vs 4060: Bang for buck it's the 4060 but it can't be upgraded so if it's in budget then grab the 4070 (or the best GPU you can).

Have added to watchlist it doesn't look like their other deals come close to the value of the Pro 7i.
