Purchase Lounge from Nick Scali

Wow - I am over-whelmed with the negative reviews online for Nick Scali - I should have done my home work first before I purchased
Never again - same issues time and time again
Staff over talking to customers and not listening to their concerns
I now wish I had read these reviews prior to my own purchase - I would not have bothered to purchase my lounge - very disappointed and it seems you need to hire full time staff just to respond to negative reviews!!! what does that say.
QL01376 is my order number
Purchased mid July - advised about 11 weeks til delivery but paperwork states 12-14 weeks with another (up to) 3 weeks up their sleeves…. they still couldn't deliver in that time frame and declined my request for a full refund even though they themselves breached the contract.
Totally disappointed and now realise why the manager offer me a $120 in store credit - what good is that to me.
No thanks - I will NEVER purchase from Nick Scali again and will make it my mission to let others know of my concerns.
I have lodged with the Dept of Fair Trading - they should be in touch soon.

I am outraged for you op

I'm guessing you posted your order number because you're expecting this to gain some traction, but I don't think Nick Scali has that much to do with Ozbargain (not like other retailers might).

That said, if the paperwork states 14 weeks, and they have failed to deliver, initiate a charge back (assuming you paid on credit card?)

Otherwise, good luck with Fair Trading. Hope you get it resolved.

I for one am desperately grateful that you created an account 25 minutes ago just to complain about a furniture chain.

Item coming from China, it take time.

My leather lounge from there has lasted 8 years and is still in perfect condition. Cost like $5k which was ludicrous imo but the wife wanted it and she is happy. I think it did take a while to arrive as well from memory

I have an IKEA lounge that I bought for $500 ten years ago that is still going.

I bought my Nic Scali couch during covid and it arrived some 3 months later. give or take a couple of weeks. That's the price you pay for a custom couch. You could have it the same day from Ikea, but Nic Scali's business model is different (and it works imho).

My couch has turned 3 and is pretty much in the condition that it was in when unpacked, almost zero sag.

After trying some 30 odd couches from everywhere Nic Scali won out as far as being the quality/price goldilocks couch, yes there were slightly better couches, but they were double the price and there were cheaper couches but were comparatively poorly built.

I can't pass judgement on the staff because my interaction was brief, but i did get the impression that their customer service skills were lacking, everywhere else we went they were onto us like a fly to a turd, Nic Scali's staff preferred to sit and wait for you to come to them. Still got my business though and don't regret it.

sit and wait for you to come to them.

Ah the old play it cool game plan. Remain unbothered and aloof.

Me: oh they not coming over? Well I’ll take my business elsewhere!

Me 72 hours later, ugly crying into a XXXX: am I too fat? Is it the receding hair line? Am I not worthyyyyyyy? Why didn’t they call me back?

You haven't got the furniture yet, so your only issue at this stage is the late delivery… The whole wall of text you wrote is NOT about price, quality or the actual item itself, it's JUST about delivery…

You need to step back a bit and see that everywhere is the same… If you wanted fast you could have got a Ikea/fantastic furniture couch, but no matter where you went, you would get the same timeline of 3-6 months…

Phoning them every day won't make a bit of difference except to work the salesman and yourself up… At this stage it is easier to wait.

The whole wall of text you wrote is NOT about price, quality or the actual item itself,

Bit harsh there, I mean how is OP suppose to complain about poor workmanship of his couch if they can’t even deliver the product? I mean, to get the thing you paid for is the least I would have expected, and yet OP did not, yet you are suggesting OP shouldn’t complain?

Hope you're not in NSW, they'll do nothing, they are toothless tigers and cannot resolve anything, don't hold your breath.

    • They'd first need a case though

So it is just over 2 weeks past the scheduled delivery date and for that you lodge a complaint with Fair Trading???? - straight into the WPB file I reckon

I got a pair of leather recliners off hard rubbish instead. Nothing wrong with them just had to replace the broken recline latches.

    • A long time ago, but I do have to say that's one of the reasons I avoided Nick Scali when I was looking to spend too much money on a sofa earlier this year.

Saleswoman at the store was one of the weirdest I'd ever met too. Creeped me out a but at least wasn't too hard to get away from.

We really need to restrict posting privileges for new accounts.

Why is Ozbargain so rife with these useless fly-by-night accounts that go to the effort of making one post to bitch about something irrelevant and then never return?

    • +5

Probably the entertainment value. But I agree, adding a 30 day limit before posting to the forums would reduce a fair amount of crap off the forums.

If the only issue is delivery, it's a pain right up the jacksie, but unfortunately it's often just the way it is.

I see you've declined the offer for a full refund, which is actually the smart play. I've seen others go down this road and then suddenly realise they're back at the start and further away from getting a new couch than if they'd persevered.

At the point of sale, the target date was likely mid-October. What's the latest update?

offer me a $120 in store credit

Did you get a battery operated one? you'll need that credit to buy a new battery when the included one inevitably fails after 6 months and they try to make you pay for the replacement 😂

  • You can get your money back if they can't deliver within the terms of the contract you signed with them. I have had my money refunded by them when they failed to delived a couch within the extended time frame. Unless they learnt their lesson and made it indefinite…
