I'm objecting to accuracy of the title. It should be $15 off for spend over $30. 50% has nothing to do with anything.

  • +4

Edit : title has since been revised

*Maximum $15 discount, $30 minimum spend. Service and delivery fees apply. Voucher expires at 11.59pm 19/11/23. 1 redemption per customer. CC payments only. So it's only 50% off if you spend exactly $30?

should be able to stack with amex spend $50 get $20 back

    • +1

Thanks for this - I just looked at the terms and it's 3x$50 spend for 1x$20 credit, I believe. So slightly less exciting than I thought, if I've read the terms correctly

      • +2

        3x$50 spend for 3x$20 credit

        • Are there two different offers? Mine clearly says

Offer only valid where $50 or more has been charged to your Card three times to receive one $20 credit.

    • Yes, can confirm stacked with Amex spend $50 get $15 off (the other Amex offer). Good deal, $70 order, delivered for $40.

  • Not working at Bayswater North VIC location.

  • These guys recently opened up near a Red Rooster, within a month, the Red Rooster closed down.

    They are 100000 times better.

Which one is better? Got lost

      • +2

        EJ's is better

        • +1

Although EJ has started expressing to suppliers a willingness to source cheaper ingredients for maximum profit rather than focus on quality food… Guess that's just capitalism?

          • @misunderstood98: Hope they don't change suppliers for the garlic sauce. That stuff is what dreams are made of…

            • +2

@serpserpserp: They have definitely changed it in recent years already. Growing up right near the EJ in Blacktown, we were lucky to get their original Toum. It's 100% a lower quality product already, could be associated with supply and demand though.

Good Toum is hard to mass produce as it's a delicate process. It's something that a popular Lebo place in Greenacre and Al Tawouk in Lebanon struggle with also.

They get away with it because the general public doesn't really notice the difference.

              • @misunderstood98:

Good Toum is hard to mass produce as it's a delicate process.

I thought it was just 4 ingredients: garlic, oil, salt and lemon juice. Get the good quality oil and garlic and most of the way there. Good or bad Toum I'm still a fan.

                • @serpserpserp: Agreed, ingredients quality is important, hence why cost cutting is bad. But good toum is also to do with correctly breaking down ingredients before others are slowly added. Good toum is a delicate process.

A good cake and a bad cake can use the same ingredients.

                • @serpserpserp: When I make it I need to go pretty.slowly and then need to make it a day ahead to let it mellow down a bit.

I imagine it would be hard to mass produce the traditional recipe. Having said that it tastes pretty bloody good.

              • @misunderstood98: its also made lighter for the general public as legit toum is too full on.

          • +1

@misunderstood98: Definitely, plus EJ's was sold off years ago to a more commercial group, prior to that, was more a family run business.

Quality has no doubt dipped. Still miles ahead of any Red Rooster!

            • +2

@tightm8: Oh yeah definitely when it was that single smokey store around Granville, I remember it being better at that time.

  • Perfect timing with my AMEX stack

  • +3

Decent if you don't have any El Jannah locations nearby. Otherwise, it is still cheaper to pick up two rolls from the store directly.

  • +5

Remember this is Menulog. A company with terrible customer service that doesn't deserve your money

    • +5

I gotta say, I have had a woeful experience with them for the past year or 2.

  • How much is mark up on prices?

    • Depends on the restaurant, I have seen between 30% to a whopping 80% extra.

      • +7

Huge markup for EJs. Works out a little cheaper to pick it up from the store once the discount is applied for a whole chicken meal for my local EJ.

    • 20% is normal but for El it's probably higher

    • +2

Ridiculous. They want $30 (including service and delivery) for whole chicken.

  • +4

For the entire duration of El Jannah being exclusive to uber eats, I never got it ONCE because the markup was insane. Now that its on doordash and menulog, theyve got a more competitive markup, and with the 10 off late night / 15 off 30, it now works out to be similar price to going in store. Pretty huge, and I haven't stopped ordering :(

    • Yep, tell me about it. This stuff is more addictive then drugs, especially the garlic sauce…

      • Henry How To on YouTube has a pretty good tutorial for making the sauce. Need a food processor and some patience.

  • $28 for a whole chicken + delivery fees. Da fk?

  • +1

The markup on this is insane

  • [NSW,VIC,ACT]

  • +1

Dry chicken just got dryer in the delivery box on the way

  • What's good?
Gotta use up my Amex deal expiring in 3 days.

  • +1

Not great since they marked up my item ~25% so after code and fees, i'm paying the usual price + $6 for someone to deliver here.

  • Got it Doordashed and got a photo of my dinner and someone else's door.

Rang the driver and he said go get it. "Dude I have no bloody idea where you put it. You go get it!"

    Was delicious once arrived tho'.

  • WE HAVE EL JANNAH IN VIC ?
