Which Prepaid I Can Use in India to Receive SMS and Calls

Hello OzB Group Members, Can you please advise what is the best way I can receive calls and SMS from my australian number in India. I am happy to port into a new service the the time I am overseas ( happy to forfeit my current Boost Data / Validity ). If I am able to make phone calls from India to Australian Numbers too would be amazing ( at a resonable price point ). My duration of Visit is approx 6 weeks starting mid december.

Thanks,

Felix is awesome, you can sign up to their cheapest plan for $12.50 a month for the first 3 months, then buy an international roaming pack for $20 that lasts 365 days. Includes 100 minutes of calls in and out, so it depends how much in the way of calls you need to make, you can keep topping up the $20 though. But if you need to make a lot of calls, I'd get a local sim. Cheapest I found besides this is Vodafone at $5 a day but you get a lot more data/calls.

Their site does say that coverage may vary for India though depending on region.

When I visited to India, I used boost phone as it is. There is an option in settings to switch on wifi calling. I hope your phones has that too.
Most places had free wifi and when connected to them, my phone was in wifi calling and I could receive calls from Australia or call back without any issues or extra payments.

    I hope this helps.

        • Did you visit any call centres?

          • @jv: no. Why?

              @pc007:

              no. Why?

Curious to know if we can visit them…

              • @jv: No you can’t , cos most of the employees are WFH!

                • @Ehty: Not true. When they call me, I can hear the others in the background.

                  • @jv: Full family working in call centre

                    • @Ehty: Which family?

                      • @jv: Dad, mom , son , daughter all work in call centre and all are wfh that’s why you hear others in background

                        • @Ehty: So it’s a family business then?

                          • @jv: Can arrange your visit, when do you want to go!

                            • @Ehty: Yes please…

                              After Dewali.

                              • @jv: Monday?

                                • @Ehty:

                                  Monday

                                  On my mind….
