  • Nil stock in VIC thus no C&C option.

    • You can change the delivery to come from WA…

  • So expensive, only if it is a 5g modem router

That's too much for a router that doesn't have WiFi 6E.

    • I agree.

      Seems very hard to justify.

      • You got any WiFi 6E devices?
Seems like a very minor gripe.
However I only paid $400 about a year ago, and still happy with it. Much better than ISP issued routers, running Merlin (and hardware fw & add blocker).
Either way would recommend Asus of a similar spec.

        • I've got 6e on my phone and PC, but 6e would just be a novelty and I don't have a need for. I agree that lack of 6e is a minor gripe, but the 6e comparison is purely because it's the only reason that would seem to justify a $400+ price tag. And only because you can't find 6e routers cheaper than that.

I've got the Gl.iNet Flint 2 (which is the latest Wifi 6 home router from Gl.iNet) and it's really good. And comes with some great security features, which are standard on Gl.iNet devices. Currently it's $159 USD, but if you got it as a pre-order it was only $109 USD (or as little as $89 USD if you got in quickly enough).

At the moment I'm sticking with Gl.iNet devices, but I would also consider an Asus that's Merlin or OpenWrt compatible.

I don't doubt that this Asus is a good device, particularly given it's Merlin compatible. Just in this case I can't see the justification to spend close to $500 for a Wifi 6 device when you can get something on par for less than half the price.

        • My phone, tablet and laptop all are 6E. But even if I didn't have any devices, if you are spending a lot of money on a router wouldn't you want one that will be compatible with your future devices?

          • @brimmy11: At the time 6E was heaps more than 6 and don't care about it, and got a good deal.
All much faster than the NBN anyway for me (100/20).

            • @G-rig: There's a lot more to it than just pure speed. We are also talking about the current day and this deal not why you bought one a year ago. We've only started to get reasonable 6E routers in the last 2 years. A year ago sure this router on sale isn't a bad deal, but I think in the current day it would be a waste of money.

              • @brimmy11: Ok good.
Some people hung up about latest spec when in reality it off very similar and not noticeable.
Anyway I'm surprised this router isn't under 400$ yet in that case, guess people are paying for the overall features. Plenty of other choices around and not saying to spend over 400$ on one. Get whatever you want.

WiFi 6E is still 802.11AX which is the same standard we've had for years. It's just improving some frequencies and bandwidth plus adding a 6GHz band which most devices don't even use yet.

Find a 2.0GHz quad core CPU router with 1GB RAM and 2x 2.5gbps ports for this price and get back to me… People are so focused on the wifi aspect that they don't realise how powerful this thing actually is! Hands down best wired bang for buck router you can get on the market at the moment at this price.

      • Exactly, wifi is only one of the features and functions, it's still AX which is pretty new FFS :).

      • Find a 2.0GHz quad core CPU router with 1GB RAM and 2x 2.5gbps ports for this price and get back to me

Literally the GL.inet Flint 2 as mentioned above lol. And it's half the price.

In fact it's probably using the same processor since it has the same ports/CPU specs.

Not saying it's better or anything. I don't know too much about gl.inet, but they seem to be well regarded and make decent products.

        • Never heard of it. May be alright though.

  • Price match JB…

  • I would personally just go with a Gl.iNet Flint 2 which was just released and has 2 x 2.5Gb Ethernet ports (if that's what you're keen on).

    Much cheaper.

ASUS TX-AX6000 (ASUS TUF-AX6000 China Ver) at RMB$739+shipping I'd say I'll have in hand for less than AUD$200.

looking out for one of these…. black friday sales hopefully will bring some luck…. Whats the lowest they have been? Anything over 400 in my opinion for a router is ridiculous.

    • Will wait for black friday and try get jb hifi to price match to use with the 15% off gift cards
