Seeking Backup Phone Provider Recommendations

Hey everyone,

I'm on the lookout for a provider for my backup phone. Currently considering Amaysim's $60 plan with unlimited calls and SMS. I don’t really need any data since the phone will be for calls and sms. Any suggestions or experiences with other providers I should consider?

TIA

  • How do you survive without data? At home 365 days?

    • As mentioned in my post it will be used in a backup phone.

  • Each provider will be different for each person, someone say X is good but you may get bad signal with X.
Generally boost Telstra etc are good

  • Lebara has similar call and text only.
    Also ALDI.

  • Aldi

    • Which plan though? They have more than one.

      • They are all good value and would depend on what you need. I am on a $25 per month and that gives unlimited calls and sms and 22gb of data per month. They also have a $17 plan with unlimited calls and sms and 5.5gb per month.

  • generally speaking … it's well worth going for a different network than your main phone to provide resilience/failover (recent optus issue proved this).

So OP … who is your main provider ???

Although OP … you may need to clarify - as you also seem to talk about backup phone - as in "if your PHYSICAL main phone dies" … rather than just main network provider going down.

  • Aldi or boost. both use the telstra network, cant go wrong there

    but both arnt telstra pricing
