I wonder if the blades on these ones fail as much as the Nutri Ninja Auto IQ. I've had to replace them so many times. They use the cheapest and nastiest bearings possible and say that you should replace them every six to nine months. Check the feedback on their blades spare parts. All 1 star..

    • +5

If the blades fail on the IQ model, safe to say this won't be any better,, as it's the model below the one you have

    • +1

Yes I was also very disappointed of the blades failing on the Nutri Ninja Auto IQ with minimal use.

      • Agreed, they are literally the worst spare parts I've ever bought and then saying that the blades should be replaced every 6 to 9 months they are just to try and shirk their warranty requirements.

The blades with the cheap bearings they use should cost about $10 at most and yet it's about $45 a pop each time to get them, which is a considerable percentage of what the brand new machine is on sale. This tactic is really poor for the environment and leads to landfill.

I can't see the non genuine parts being any worse at this stage and are a lot cheaper, so even if they weren't to last quite as long, you can replace them more frequently and still be in front.

Appalling response times to emails from Mann & Noble who sell these inferior spare parts. Would recommend buying from anywhere else instead of them, even non genuine.

I've never had to replace a blade in any other appliance I've ever bought apart from multiple blades in theirs.

        • I've tried multiple non-genuine ninja blades and they've all been terrible. The last one I used literally started leaking it's ugly brown bearing oil from the first use.

          • @Reggyscum: That's a shame, I've heard lots of good reports from people. Have you bought the genuine replacement ones for comparison, or are you comparing to the original ones that came with the machine itself?

Out of curiosity, where did you buy your non genuine ones you tried from?

            • @mrbargainz: Good question.. My comparisons are to the original ones. The non-genuine blades i bought were a pair from amazon, then a pair from ebay. The ebay blades were cheaper, but also worse quality. There seem to be plenty of different sellers - i suspect they are all selling the same lousy product.

              • +1

@Reggyscum: That might make sense. I've bought genuine spare part from Mann & Noble who are the official spare parts company for them and they didn't seem as good, or last as long as the original one that came with the unit either. As for all sellers just selling the same ones, I wouldn't be surprised at all by that. Half of them you can tell, because they use the same product pictures and info! Just different companies and priceee.. thanks for the info.

                • @mrbargainz: It's a shame to hear about your experience with the Mann & Noble parts.

I'm almost tempted to take one of the blades bearings apart and see if I how hard it would be to replace with better quality bearings ourselves.

                  • @Reggyscum: They do not make it easy to get into them! I don't think they want people to see that they don't even use a decent branded bearing and completely cheaped out.. it's stupid as the rest of the blade seems ok.

Does this blend frozen fruit easily? I’m looking for one blender can mix frozen fruit or ice. Thanks

    • Yes it does it easily, as long as there's enough liquid or mushy fruit in there as well

    • Yes, better than a standard blender, but you do need some liquid.

  • Good price, but standard price on Good Guys Commercial (pick-up price)

  • Good for blending baby food.

  • +1

The Good Guys (regular) website are offering it for $64 (via popup) pickup.

    • and if you don't get the popup, there is a "Price Check: Pay Less with PRICE BEAT" button to bring it up.

  • why is ninja better thn nutribullet?

    • +4

That's debatable, both are great blenders, after having both IMO, with dry materials Nutri seems to blend a smoother consistency, I recall it had more blades (but could be my memory failing), but Ninja seems to do better with ice.
Ninja is a heck of a lot louder, currently have the Ninja.
Specs may change all the time, so at a given point which blender is better, is likely personal preferences. Nutri is often cheaper.
I've also had a cheapie from Aldi, can't say there is a heck of a lot of difference between them all. If you use them for ice daily, none seem to last more than a year.
      Kids have daily fruit smoothies.

      • thanks that helps allot

        • What did you end up deciding?

          • @ar7ist: i got the nutribullet 900 mega pack in the end

            • @ruztynail: I'll get the same. How much did you pay for it? Dont see any solid deals atm.

              • @ar7ist: $64 nett.. got it like a month ago. my case is diff. i coupled price matching during a sale with amazon and had the $15 cash back from CBA credit card.

Does the liquid still get in behind the seal and stink?

  • Will these make smooth hommus?
Most blenders dont seem to spin fast enough to really smooth out the blend and the result is coarser more "grainy" than i get with stick blenders that seem to operate at a higher rpm.

  • how does this go with ice?

  • The question is… Does it BLEND?

  • It does and I am a fan of this blender

  • K after having the previous version of this blender for a while, I don’t recommend it. But not for the reasons you’d think.
The motor isn’t powerful and will end up ruining the plastic behind the blades eventually the motor will end up making weird noise after about a year or two.
The best thing to do is to upgrade to the bigger motor so you can have more torque to blend anything edible ;)

  • Thanks OP. Got one at store for $64 after showing them the TGG site price beat.

  • any one got issues with Ninja IQ on the bottle inserts (4 inserts at the side edge of the head of the bottle to lock the bottle in the machine and pushing the switch to activate the power)? They wore out and not activate the blender just after a few times use. I have to put my hand on top keep pushing the bottle to keep the machine on when it's blending. Shaking my hands off from time to time. :( So I have to turn on my music to play shake it off. lol

  • Just found out it’s pulse only so you can’t click it in

Maybe the Nutri Duo is what you are after, though even at its cheapest it's twice the price of the blender.

  • Is Ninja Blender Pro with Auto IQ - BN500 any better ?

    https://www.bigw.com.au/product/ninja-blender-pro-with-auto-…

    • +1

I think so. Seems to be an inbetween product in the line up between the BN450 and the Nutri Duo.
