  • Bridgestone Dueler

    Are they any good?

    • +1

I had the Dueler A/T 697 and wasn't impressed, the wet weather handling was poor and they had a bad habit of picking up rocks and spitting them out at 70km/h.

      • What do you recommend that is better?

Rep doesn't appear to be interested in answering the question.

        • It all depends. What sort of vehicle and what sort of usage?

          • @LowRange: SUV… Mainly city/highway… one or two long trips per year. no off road.

      • +1

Average in the wet and relatively quick wearing are common negs from 4WD owners, including me. 697s are reliable all rounders (don't chip, okay grip etc) but have priced themselves out of the market imo. Many better options for ATs at lower cost if you can wait - eg Yoko G015 and Falken Wildpeak 4 for 3 deals.

        • Looking to replace the factory HT tyres on PX3 Ranger.

          Good to read your feedback.
I'd be interested in the Falken WildPeak as an option.

Didn't like the BFG KO2 in the wet in the highway I've had previously.

          • @Spending2Much: I've spent a large amount of (too much) time reading reviews and tests (and looking at what others have bought in carparks) over the last 18 months. Tirerack.com has thousands of USA consumer reviews and also tests "evaluating" tyres - including comparisons of some popular makes/styles. Very much worth a read. Look under the Research and Advice tab. There are also comprehensive comparative ratings charts.

In the end I opted for the Yoko Geolandar G015 LT for my Prado. 25% off all five tyres during a Bob Jane promo was the clincher.

            • @Igaf: Now 35% f off …

              • @beach bum: I'm no longer looking but what is 35% off exactly?

The important thing isn't the % off but the final package price because most tyres are already heavily discounted from RRP and "normal" prices vary hugely between dealers. 35% off a high price may not be as good as 15% off an already discounted tyre.

                • +1

@Igaf: Just look at Bob Jane’s webpage , their prices are already the lowest around these days.
                  It’s only if you’re buying a full set of Yoko’s , Dunlop or Pirelli’s .
Someone who knows how should really post this as a deal .

I’m getting a set of Yokohama Geolandar
                  X-AT’s 265/75r16’s for under a grand myself today .

Tyres n More sell this model for $409 each before any discount ,
While BJ is at $365 each before the 35% off .
That’s more than a third of the price off ,
Better than any buy 3 get one free deal or 25% off .

                  Like I said ,
someone that knows how should really post this deal here on Ozbargain now.
                  Ends Saturday .

                    • +1

                      @Igaf: Ok , but I just paid $236 each for Yokohama Geolandars 265/75R16 LT X-AT’s .
Fitted and balanced with old tyres dumped, all inclusive .
Pretty fckn good I would have thought .
                      Dunno about your math skills.
                      but I think it’s a good deal .

                      • @beach bum: Sounds like a very good price.

Just did the same thing with your tyres and I see a different shopping cart total with a sizable discount in green, so maybe there was a glitch when I did my test. I'll have another go and see what gives now.

                        • @Igaf: You can check the math on their website when you go to checkout , it will take the 35% off automatically .

All sizes are different prices with no sense to be made there , unless it’s down to popularity or something .

                          • @beach bum: Yep, just did the test for my tyre and the discount came up this time. Last time it didn't show up so I (wrongly) assumed they'd already applied it.

$1462.50 for 5 tyres. That's a VERY good deal, and the 35% off was on their usual price.

I'll unpublish my comments in case people are misled.

Very much worthy of a deal.
Why don't you break the ice and post your first? It's easy.

                            • @Igaf: I’m old and don’t learn good .

                              • +1

@beach bum: Ha ha. You found a great deal for yourself and you've picked a good tyre so I'm sure you can do it.
There's a very simple template to create your deal, give it a burl. Mods will fix any errors.

                                • @Igaf: You can do it !!! ( with French/Canadian accent )

Need a buy 2 get 1 free deal for my Reliant Robin.

    • i feel the pain no fair deals for reliant robin owners or cam am

  • Not sure if they are the same as Dueler H/P, but the Dueler H/P was factory issued tyres on our 2015 Tiguan 132 R-Line and lasted 90,000kms. Grip was pretty good and never lost traction, even in the wet. Replaced them with the same tyre at 90,000kms and am currently on 60,000kms on this set. They do get noisy towards the end of their life, but all tyres do. Not the quietest, or stickiest, but a solid tyre and good for the wifes daily.

    • 90.000 out of 4 or 5 rotated? if the former that is incredible for any Bridgestone Dueler.

      • 4 tyres. First set was a lot of motorway driving, but the current set is suburban driving. On 60,000kms now and can get another 10k-15k kms out of them.

Looks like it's the same offer on most of the range if you look at the site.

Bought a new set of bridgestone tyres from Costco not long ago for tad cheaper, about $80 cheaper from Costco comparing like-for-like model and size. Bridgestone also offering deal for other tyre ranges as well. However, Costco does not offer wheel alignment services so had to take it elsewhere for that.

  • As a syder sider, Tempe tyres are only a little more expensive for the duelers for my suv…and I don't need to swap all 4 (yet) . So might pass on this one.

    $270 x 4 for H/L400 225/55/18.

    Yea nah

  • They were willing to price match costco tyres price.
I just have to get a quote from costco.
