Although this is an older model it seems an excellent price, hard to find many places still selling the combo unit but I found a couple of stores still selling it for $449 - $479 range.

  • The EM0480 you link for $99 is a different grinder to the one in the combo on this deal.

    • Same inside, but the EM0480 definitely looks prettier on the outside.

      • +1

It may be prettier, but with grounds going everywhere, the fixed base is a female canine to clean on the EM0480. The rubber base doesn't have raised edges to keep the grounds from spilling over, and the metal base is difficult to wipe clean with the grooves.

if I'm not wrong, the EM0450 base detaches completely so you can just tip it all into the sink.

    • Thanks, deleted the reference to avoid confusion.

  • missing a space between 81202 and Online in the link~

  • Just bought one for the lady; shipping was removed ("discounted") at the very last step. Funny, since I didn't see free shipping mentioned anywhere before that.

  • Thanks sparkyglo, got one for the girlfriend for Christmas

  • great deal

  • Great deal esp with paypal. I have got myself another one for work. I have been using this espresso for over 6 months now with no issue. Initial experience was yeah, it was loud. However, I quickly discovered that it was my fault. I now managed to reduce the noise from the pressure wand by creating the froth and at about 30-45 degrees angle on the surface of the milk level. It really creates cafe quality latte. It beats my $900 all in one automated coffee machine hands down.

  • This machine does even better with the alternative filter basket. I ordered my single wall Breville filter basket here: http://www.belstar-electrics.co.uk/products/MS%252d0907163-%… and it fits this machine perfectly. It gives better crema with freshly ground beans. With shipping to Australia it came to £10.90.

    • do they have a one cup filter that fit this machine?

      • Haven't checked. I always drink large cups.

  • Sold out.

  • Got the EM5900 few months back for $188. Pretty good machine except it's a little noisy.

Grinder for $10 extra? Good deal.

  • Does this coffee machine allow you to do the shot and heat the milk at the same time?

    • -1

No, it's a single thermoblock. Shot first, milk next.

      • bouncing off the walls next. :D

      • +3

not sure if thats your exact order, but id say do the milk 1st then the shot, as the milk is fat it will stay warm, the coffee will cool faster. Yes the milk will warm it back up, but byt then the sediment will have fallen to the bottom and the aroma will be gone. From a technical point of view.

      • only if you want a bitter coffee

        • Heat your glassware up. Reason for shot first then milk, is because the thermo block will be producing water at too high a temperature, after being made to produce steam. Coffee will be extracted with temperature too hot, there goes your shot.
If you are really into your aromas from your coffee you would not be addin milk. Just sayin

  • I just placed an order, appears the link has been removed.
Lets see if BIG W honor the offer.

    • I can still access the link.

  • Does the $25 Cash Back show up immediately, after you pay with paypal? I paid, but I only see a payment of $200.50 on paypal :(

EDIT: What the!! The links gone now. Hmm, lets see if Big W still honor the transaction.

    • The link keeps going up and down :S

      • +1

the guy incharge of the website has the jitters after having the coffee.

    • heads up, they process the Cash Back prior to November 11th as per T&Cs. So pretty much, November 11th : )

  • We have the coffee machine in our office (from last deal) and it gets plenty of use. Good machine, but as previously mentioned it is quite noisy +1

  • out of stock

    • Out of stock confirmed. Online order failed at checkout. Rang BigW 1300 244 999 at about 7:50pm and Sean confirmed no stock and "unavailable" for order.

  • For some reason I didn't get a receipt but it's showing up as pending in my paypal account. Anyone know what's up with it?

  • Great grinder! Good deal!

  • Well as the OP I have revoked my vote and would neg my own deal if I could (not sure why you can't neg a deal you voted positive previously?). They have cancelled my order as they apparently can't find it in there warehouse. I spoke to customer service and spoke to someone called VJ who was extremely rude, she offered me lower specified machine and tried to tell me she was being nice about offering this. I then asked to speak to a manager and she kept putting me on hold stating she couldn't connect me to the manager as they were on another call.

The best I could do was to get the manager to call me back tomorrow. I would be interested if anyone who bought this has had their order honoured/shipped? For those with shipping confirmation, can you be so kind as to give me an idea of what time you placed the order?

Finally, if people ordered this and it has been cancelled I am really sorry about posting this now and causing you trouble. I think it is one think to cancel an order like this, but given the poor customer service I received from Big W tonight I intend to follow this further and will let you know what happens.

    Regards, Ian.

    • Hey mate, I ordered mine Thursday around 6:30pm and i received mine yesterday. I actually haven't opened the box yet as i've had no time to, but i imagine they didn't skimp out on me and give me something else =p (It was a really big box).

Mate, no need to be sorry either, it's not your fault BigW stuffed up!

  • That's awful mate, my order was placed 4/10/12 at 2.30pm
Haven't received it yet but have shipping confirmation
best of luck with the follow up

  • I placed my order just a few minutes before I first commented here (2pm on 4/10).

I received a "shipping confirmation" e-mail on the 9th, but my order was split into two shipments; the confirmation was only for some cotton buds (added to get to $200), which arrived this morning (11th), but right now the machine is still listed as "In Progress", although they had already registered a separate tracking number with AusPost for it on the 9th.

Actually, I wonder if this wasn't some kind of data entry stuff-up, since the PU5900 apparently has an RRP of $499 (http://www.sunbeam.com.au/products/kitchen/pu5900/), and while I was in a Big W on the weekend I spotted another Sunbeam combo, also priced at $198 (http://www.bigw.com.au/home-garden/small-appliances/coffee-m…). Was this what they tried to offer you, sparkyglo?

    • When I spoke to a manager over the phone she had said it was a clearance item and discontinued from sunbeam, so it wasn't a pricing error. She did say that the website online ordering system for stock allocation wasn't working properly and it did over-allocate stock. She also said there were 5 in the wharehouse left but weren't in a condition to be sold and that she could not source any more from sunbeam. I was offered the model you listed as a replacement for $198, a sunbeam that is listed for $288 on their website for the same price and this for $498 ($200 off their retail price after the manager I spoke to had to speak to someone else) http://www.bigw.com.au/home-garden/small-appliances/coffee-m…

  • They finally called me to cancel the order yesterday. I'm not sure why they had to have a somewhat forceful lady from an Indian call center call and ask me to write return order numbers down while I was walking through a park, rather than just send an e-mail (which they also did), but there we are.

  • They have also cancelled my order :( and money refunded into my PayPal account. Don't waste your time by ringing them up.

  • Big W has refunded my order as well.

  • me also.
