  • Silly Q: But do you get cash back if you pay direct via Tyro Health?

    • I think so. But last time I did (Medibank) there was an $11 discrepancy in the amount claimed vs deducted on the invoice from Specsavers. Took a couple weeks over email to sort it out, but it was eventually. Recommend just claiming later and avoiding any hassle.

  • Will 10% off and free delivery with easypay on specsaver website void the cashback?

    • 10% off from where ?

    • The BF50 code doesn’t seem to work with easypay

They appear to significantly increased their prices since I last checked, even with the discount and cash-back it's about the same as other sites.

    • +6

They also have adjusted prices so a few boxes of my lenses come out to $198, conveniently $1 short of coupon amount :P

      • +1

        😂

      • Mine are always like that. Still a good deal though, brings mine down to about $22/box

        • Biggest saving comes from replacing your fortnightlies every two months (don't try this at home)

But jokes aside I am pretty sure I only swap out that often. No irritation, nothing

          • @Nuggets: Fair enough. I wear mine almost exclusively for cycling so daily lenses suit me, at most I would probably use 4 pairs a week.

Great deal icw the cashback. Thanks OP.

With the cashback, works out around ~10% cheaper than mycontactlens.com.au prices for me

    • +1

Unless I am missing something, for my contacts Specsavers is already almost 20% cheaper before any discounts.

  • which daily disposal contact lens does everyone recommend? Prefer to have UV protection on the dailies.

    • I've been using these guys for the last 6 years. They are considerably cheaper than anything you can get in Australia. They were set up by the guy who originally invented daily disposable lenses.

      • $5 cheaper with $10 delivery, not much of a bargain here.

Not sure what you're comparing in that case. To qualify for the $50 off at Specsaver you have to spend $200. Using 1 Day Acuvue Moist, that requires 3 months supply (or rather 6 packs - 2 x 90 lenses, which lasts less than 3 months) at $210, discounted to $160 with the code. 3 months supply of the DaySoft lenses (6 packs - 2 x 96 lenses, lasts more than 3 months) costs $78, plus $20 postage, so $98 total.

$62 cheaper. Not sure about your arithmetic, but to me that's a great saving for lenses that, for me at least, are at least as comfortable as the previous types I've used. And there's no need to faff about waiting for discounts. That's the normal price. I don't think I've ever seen them do a discount.

          • @banana365: Holy smokes I did not realise you get TWO packets for that price. Sorry mate! How have you found these lenses? Do they hold up quality wise etc..?? Can this also be claimed back on health fund (I assume so)?

            • @netuser415: No worries. I've had no problems with the lenses at all. I've even worn them overnight on long haul flights and they've been fine the day after (not an great idea though). You can't claim them from your health fund as they're UK based, but that's never been a problem for me as I use my optical benefit to get a pair of glasses each year (reading glasses these days). I save more over a year by using DaySoft than the optical benefit would be anyway.

Oxygen permeability (Dk) 26 about the same as Acuvue Moist. Not bad.

        For comparison with other brands.

code doesn't work. Added contacts amount to 225.00, tried with and without the 10% off from renewal subscription easypay.

Also tried LENS50 as well as BF50

    Anyone got the codes working?

    • +1

      BF50 works fine for me

      • ok works for me now too!

  • +1

Can I still claim health fund with this and how do I go about doing it? I have a $200 limit I think

    • Yes only for the amount you actually paid

      • This would be without the cashback I would assume?

        • +3

Your health fund has no idea what cashback is.

  • +2

30 packs of Acuvue Oasys fortnightly with all the discounts equals $4.6 per lens.
While 24 packs from Anytime Contacts equals $4.5 each pretty much all year.

    • +1

Yep agree, Anytime still works out cheaper…

    • Pretty much what I said above (with different words). :)

    • Cheers, will try them out. Can I claim benefits from Medibank private with orders from them?

      • +1

there is a section called Health Funds on their website. Have a look there.
Otherwise, I have no idea about private insurance.
