  • I can. My first. Last week. Zero issue.
Maybe you have been too many?

Have you tried a differnt payment method. Typo in address, different email and different payment method worked for me, then it kicked in again, changed paymet method and it started working again for me.

yes tried many cards including once off card and prepaid Coles Mastercard

  • I can, I generally buy 5 ish per month, and active them all just before cashback expiring.

I have about 15~20 service (active/expired) in my boost account at the moment.

    • Maybe because I reached 35 sims a few months ago. But I already tried different devices . random name and IP and different cards

      • I got something wrong before reaching 35 SIMs

  • Maybe add a poll -

    • Yes

    • I've retired thanks to Boost sim deals with profit.

      Done great idea

      • Who started the Tesla comment anyway, was it JV?

        • I chuckle to myself every month when inserting a new Boost SIM card into the pocket wi-fi device used in my Boost cashback-purchased Tesla. I'm not paying them $10/month for premium connectivity.

          • @Reveen: I'm waiting to see if I even need to put another sim in my router on the expiry date(29th)
Current sim has been sitting on 1.2gb left for the last 3 weeks, downloaded hundreds of gigs in that time.

            • @HopSkipJumpFallSplat: What router do you have?
I'm looking to cancel my NBN and just use Sim data
But want a good quality router that everything in my house can easily connect to

              • @Spending2Much: I got a good deal some time back, on the superseded TP Link Deco x20 4g, works great.

              • +1

@Spending2Much: Get a used Telstra Smart Modem Gen 3 Cobra XH from FB marketplace. WiFi 6 , Boost sim works with default modem settings, just have to enable off line mode and your away.

            • @HopSkipJumpFallSplat: This sim remained stuck at 1.2gb til there was a power outage, as soon as I turned the router back on it started metering the data again, wondering if that was a coincidence.

              • +1

@HopSkipJumpFallSplat: When Optus had that major outage, Telstra also had problems with their recharging service.
So they offered free calls, text and unlimited data at the time (even Sims that has no credit)
But once it's over, the free calls and text stopped, but data still works for free (on my Sim with 0 balance) worked for afew days till I rebooted my phone then it stopped.

  • Their app is so Telstra like, one wonders…

    • It is literally the same.

      Backends share same systems

      • If min spend of 70 on Boost it does rock in Oz.
Longterm the big one offers 180 Gigs for little extra.

  • Managed to buy last week without that issue, and the porting process took about 30mins from start to end (actually being on Boost/Telstra network).

Lots of horror Boost stories to read about, but my experience was seamless.

I did use Victorian Drivers licence as form of ID check/verification.

To assist, perhaps Reset Cookies? or try different computer/phone? try home wifi and/or mobile phone network?

optus and done in under 30mins.

You need to use another device

    • +1

I used multiple phones and PCs

      • Just to confirm it's different devices with different details and payment method?

My PC is completely blocked but I can make purchases via phone

        • @Koipanda Just checking if you used a different name (& details) to buy on the Boost website but your name is the one getting cashback from Cashrewards or ShopBack

          • +1

            @trixieb: What do you mean?

I still use my CW/SB profile to purchase but all the details on boost is altered slightly, ie, x after street address, spelling mistakes in name.

            • @Koipanda: I see. Your details with spelling mistakes

  • So I managed to beat Boost's system but notsure if I beat Auspost.
I entered my address on both address lines of the address section.

Eg if the address is 1 John St, Sydney 2000 NSW it will look like 1 John St 1 John St, Sydney 2000 NSW.

Hopefully auspost can figure it out

If don't want to take that risk try an alternative address that you can collect sims from

    • yep that is one of the trick I tired

worked once then never work again…

      • Maybe someone on here that connected with auspost can share how to modify addresses that still get delivered to the right address.

        • How about using those parcel locker addresses?

Maybe sign up for a new address in a new location every once in a while if they catch on.

statistics showing more than 50% ppl cannot order any boost mobile sim…

maybe this kind of deal should be changed to Targeted until boost/telstra sort out their system….(yes boost use the SAME prepaid ordering system as telstra)

  • Have used Boost 3 times, initial plus 2 recharges (12 Mo + 160GB), never did a port out port in to get better value AND also never had any problems

  • +1

So I tried my friend's details with
    - different name
    - different phone number
    - different address
    - different email (one of my workplace email that looks nothing like my personal email)
    - a different card of mine.

Still get "Something wrong". I guess it's the card that got flagged (all of my cards have the same name).

I haven't even bought THAT many SIMs so far (one each month for the past 6 months).

    • Are you using the same device?

The something wrong seems to be independent of number of SIMs bought.
I haven't reached the limit of 35 and haven't bought that many SIMs either.
Many here have reached the limit, deleted the numbers and can still buy. Don't know what triggers it

      • Different device, away from home (my usual buying location). Don't know why, I only buy one each time and actually use it as cheap data, instead of hoarding cashback profits.

I'm pretty sure all credit cards with my names are flagged, even though I tried one that I have never used for Boost before.

I have tried deleting some numbers via chat as well, to no avail.

        • have you tried prepaid credit card/Paypal?

          • @Indomie5: Tried a completely new and different credit card, didn’t work for me

    Also curious:

    1. why Boost does this "profit" sales
    2. what exactly caused "something went wrong….."?

when buying, one can submit any arbitrary information EXCEPT the payment card. Has someone tried a totally "different" payment card?

    • Can only assume the $6 profit means enough actual customers as to offset all the Ozbargainers…

  • New here and experiencing the same problem. Can anyone please tell me if I will still be able to get cashbacks if I cancel my expired sims while the cashback is still on pending status? I think I am getting the 'something went wrong' message because I have 15 activated sims even though 8 have already expired.

  • Complaint to telsrà . they may have fixed my issue if i enter all details extactly as per my telstra id ac it now works.

Tried different names, unused credit/debit cards, different DOBs, different email addresses. still didn't work.

      • certainly tried that, manually typed in the address, instead of avenue, I typed Avenuee…same error…

I must be on their no-no blacklist..

        • Yes I feel there's a rank of blacklisting lol and I'm in the screwed basket

    • Same, tried all combinations, even tried other family members houses and all their details, lots of unused coles mc gc, bank cards, pocket money gc, disposable credit cards, nothing works. Screwed my name address, DOB, new email. I only ever got a total of 18 sims over a year. The last few sims ordered then had trouble activating online so had to contact chat to get them to manually do it, then the very last sim I had even chat couldn't activate it so had to do it under another family member. When you get totally blacklisted like this its not even worth it because if by some chance you can get it sent to you, good luck activating it. Chat last time took 1 hr.

      • same tried all combo and others address

we all screwed by boost mobile/telstra

  • I've bought these SIMs (less than 35) for about a year. Wasn't able to buy for over 2 months with something wrong message.

However managed to buy one SIM last month by changing my details. Tried to buy another SIM today with different details but something wrong again.

I haven't activated the SIM bought last month yet and only have 2 expired SIMs in my account. Looks like I will have to wait a few months again.

    • 4months waiting from my end. no shit changes

  • I use the deals purely for sim slutting purposes and only buy 1 or 2 per cash back offer depending on expiry cycle. Still got me blacklisted which I don't understand when I would guess some on here have bought hundreds and still going strong.

One thing amazes me is ozb is quite a big community now with a lot of tech pros on it. No doubt some of them would be working for Telstra. Yet after such a long period about this Something went wrong Boost crap, nothing seems to be leaking out from the inner circle. Call me naive, but a workaround/solution,if any, must be highly classified on a need to know basis at Telstra/Boost.

    • Do you think that this is a formulated response by boost to nullify the slim slutters or just a manifestation of a chaotic system? Or maybe just a chaotic response to a functioning system?
