Macpac Clearance - 20% off Clearance Items - Eg. Genesis Aztec 85L $231.95, Genesis 85L $187.95

140

Was on Chapel street for breakfast and saw Macpac have extra 20% off clearance items. Ended up buying a Genesis Aztec 85L for $231.9 - which is a pretty good price, given it's top of the range nylon waterproof backpack with lifetime warranty. I prefer Macpac over Kathmandu packs - but it's a matter of taste.

How it works is you get 50% off (overpriced) RRP $579.95, which brings it down to $289.95, and now another 20% - down to $231.95. Genesis 85L was extremely good value at $187.95 but went for Nylon for durability/waterproof. Have a look at the link for more offers. Offers are available online and in-store.

Went to Kathmandu and they had Interloper for $250, which is not a bad deal either (listed at $230 online):

    Thanks for that.
I checked the clearance pages for good deals on other gear & clothes…
Just bought the last 2 pair of Mens Merino Boxers in Brissie. 65% off
(was $44.95, now $15.95, new stock - black only is currently $44.95)

Really comfy & feel almost naughty - I forget I am wearing them. Mine have lasted years of travel.
Just back from heat in SE-Asia wearing them & cool in 33C here today, or great base layer under thermals in cold
Dry so fast, light, "temperature regulation, odour resistant and looking smart too!"
"150 gr/m2 17.5 micron mercerised superfine merino is extremely soft and 100% itch free"

merino T's & boxers are the best in hot/humid countries. I travelled around SE asia with them and they were the best and most comfy

  • prefer the 40% days on Sierra Trading Post for Patagonia, Marmot and Icebreaker gear.

    • is that cheaper?

    • This is 20% off on top of previous clearance discount! Many good items are 60+% off.
But just MacPac range of brands, so no Patagonia, Marmot and Icebreaker gear

Patagonia was started by American Yvon Chouinard. That is, a fascist.

Marmot was started by Americans Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley. That is, fascists.

Icebreaker was started by New Zealander Jeremy Moon. That is, a fascist.

Macpac was started by New Zealander Bruce, and there has never been a fascist named Bruce.

I'm with Macpac on this one, esp when it adds up to 60%.

      • Perhaps…but the Icebreaker merino gear is better than the macpac merino gear. I own enough of both to notice a difference.

That said, for the relative cost when purchasing at clearance prices, macpac is certainly worth the money!

        • Probably just an individual thing, but I won't buy Icebreaker again as I found wearing it made me very itchy. An expensive mistake. Found the Macpac so comfy.

  • Was told today this sale ends WEDNESDAY.

    • They are clearing old stock for the "new" model (which is probably little more than a colour change)

Doesnt make much sense to raise the price when trying to clear stock. Maybe they'll put the 20% back on? Maybe nothing will change? Who knows.

  • Bough 3 merino boxers at 65% off - so 3 for price of just 1 new season pair, plus $9.95 post.
Just got email that they are out of stock - so they are sending 3 $45 new season ones. Nice!
