    Yooo

  • How does this work? They pay me? Doesn't make sense

    • +1

      You're the commodity essentially

  • So to be eligible its limited to only the plan where its $88.80 for 2 years, before the cashback?

    • Pick a 0% tax country at checkout.
Use a no fx fee credit card to pay.

      I paid 80.73 us (126.50 au)
Since there's no GST component, cashback = 132.83

For a previous Nord deal, I had to send cr a support ticket as they automatically will calculate that everything has GST on it. They acknowledged and adjusted my cashback.

      • 80.73 us

The time needed for light to travel 24.23km. Impressive.

      • I reported incorrect cashback and got reply today says the cashback is correct. No need to adjust. 🙁

        • what was your paid total?

          • @txb: Paid 126.50 cashback 125.15.

            • +1

@Micky14: Then they have calculated wrong. There is no tax, hence the cashback amount is off the full amount you paid.

              • @txb: I agree with you.
                They just bs us. 🙄

            • @Micky14: This is giving flashbacks.
A restaurant my family and I went to (maybe 4 times a year), 1 time got our order wrong and made us wait an extra 45 mins for a dish. After we processed the payment, we realised they'd double-charged us for the dish (2 x $22). We got refunded $20, when we asked about the other $2 they said it was for GST and they refused to budge. 18 months later and we are still angry about that haha. It's not the money (yes, it is) but also the principle!!

        • I got the same response here. They said it was because of their conversion rate so the amount is correct.

          • @yessum: Right. Apparently they don't do their job very well. 🫤

            • @Micky14: Yeah.. You'd think 105% cashback would at least cover the cost of the product, let alone being even less than that

              • @yessum: @tightarse can you look into this please? The cashback isn't calculated right.

  • Purchased through cash rewards app but not showing up in my purchase history. Problem or does it just take time?

  • I can only see 1 year, how can i change it to 2year?

    Edit: sorry found it.

  • I purchased it and now in my account i can see an attempted payment made (it failed) in 2021 yet I don't remember ever trying to purchase nordvpn with this email and I've never had a free trial, will I still count as a new customer or should I cancel?

Also i didn't 'finish' the whole process on CR, it got to step 2 on nord where it said to download android app, i would click the link and it would go to weblink for google play to install then reroute to step 2 to install android app, stuck in a loop but this was after payment processed.

    • I'm in the same boat! Only realised that I already had an account after the payment, never really used it or paid. Also stuck in step 2. Please let me know if your cashback is confirmed or not. Cheers.

  • +1

Made a purchase which was 126.50 AUD. Made sure to select a GST free country (US) for the purchase.

Cashback tracking confirmation came back with 125.45 AUD. Not sure how that's 105%?

    • Curious to know what time you purchased and what time you got confirmation? But yeah not sure why you got a little less than 100% rather than 105%

Also a big fan of Mr Chael P, undefeated and undisputed.

      • There was about a 50 minute gap between purchase and cashback confirmation. Pretty quick.

        • Damn still nothing on my end, will give it another 2 hours but then will cancel and refund. Its either because I've tried to use this account before or i didn't 'complete' the process I reckon.

    • Am in the same boat!

    • Likewise. I suspect it is because Nord charged us in AUD rather than USD and they must have built a transaction fee into their conversion, because Cashrewards tracked it as USD$80.73, which at current rates should have been roughly AUD $122.91

    • +1

As I've said above, cr automatically assumes everything has a GST component in it. You need to reach out and point out your payment does not have a tax component and therefore are entitled to cashback on the full amount paid.

  • I accidentally signed up with an email I didn't realise I had used before (for the 1 month free trial).
Will this still be tracked or is there anything I can do?

  • +1

    This is better? for profit

    • Thanks for highlighting - its 120% now , will try it out

  • I have taken up one of these deals before but I can't remember if it was with CR or SB. If I make a new Nord account, can I still get the cashback if it will be the second time I take this deal up with CR? It says that it's for new customers only, but that means new Nord customers right? If you've claimed it before with CR can you still get it again as long as it's a new Nord account?

Does anyone know if CR will freeze your uncashed cashbacks if you've been inactive too long? SB does this and I lost hundreds.

    • +1

Very curious to see the answer to your first question.

CR will freeze your account as well.
SB requires you to make a purchase through them once every 12 months.
CR requires you click through to a retailer through them once every 12 months, no purchase necessary.

      • my "tracking" rate with SB is so poor I don't bother to click through with them anymore. Of course people will say ad blocker, but I don't run one. I have a browser with no ad blockers just for SB and CR and no other purpose.

With Amazon it's even worse. When they track, they get rejected right at the end, when it's too late to dispute it.

  • I just created the Cash Rewards account, then proceed with purchasing the deal before confirming my email on Cash Rewards. Will the deal still be applied? I still haven't seen anything on my account. I know it says 1-7 days, but I saw someone already have their deal applied. Curious how long it usually takes? Sorry for the basic question, new to Cash Rewards.

  • +1

Well, gave this a shot. I have both existing Nordvpn and cashrewards accounts. I wanted to be sure this tracked as a completely 'new account' on Nordvpn, so used a different email address to set up new account on cashrewards, then signed up to nordvpn (2 year basic plan) using that same email address. Shows up on my (international fee free CC) as AUD139.15. About an hour later, Cashrewards has $125.45 pending cashback (I skipped the GST free approach). The estimated approval date is 27th Feb, 2024 - which is the big risk of course. I've had these cash back things knocked back before too many times to really trust them (including a corporate one we use at work).

  • the checkout was buggy the first times, the third time it worked but it was the time I forgot to select the 0% gst country. Does it send you a email once it tracks?

  • Just bought it earlier this morning, took a couple hours to come through on CashRewards. Not quite 105% cashback, but for 1$ for 2 years of NordVPN pretty happy with. Price probably also fluctuates based on your currency conversion rate.

My bank is showing a purchase of 126$

Cashrewards: Estimated approval: (~95 days) Total spent: USD$80.73 - $125 Cashback.

  • Purchases using any type of discount which lowers price advertised on the Merchant site, including but not limited to employee discounts, student discounts and price-matching.

^^ We have a 69% black Friday off… so, am thinking, Cashrewards might reject the claim based on this. Thoughts?

    • +1

but the Black Friday pricing is advertised pricing. Those extra discounts such as employee discounts, are added after, they weren't advertised for everybody

      • Lets see…..

        • +1

I've got the cash back in my rewards app so I'm guessing it's good

  • just signed up, first time doing something like this hopefully it works out

    • $125.42 in cash backs for me

  • Just had a look at the pricing on the website, a bit misleading. It says you get 2 years "+ 3 EXTRA months" for just $2.99 a month for a total of "$80.73 for the first 2 years".

    But 2 years is 24 months. $2.99 x 24 months = $71.76, how did it get to $80.73 you ask? well those 3 extra months x $2.99 = $8.97. So $71.76 + $8.97 = $80.73 exactly.

So you're not paying for 2 years and getting 3 extra months, you're paying for the whole 2 years and 3 months.

    • +1

Yeah but you are getting it for free anyway

    • "3 months extra" at the discounted rate. Then if you forget to cancel it is more expensive

  • Purchased 9:50 PM last night, but still not tracked.

  • -4

I have bought this deal but still not get cashback :(

    • +2

You've signed up to OzBargain today just to post comments in two VPN deals.
This one that trashes Cashback. Another one that promotes Shopback.
      Highly suspicious behaviour.

  • Awesome. Get paid for free vpn. Cancelled auto renew too. 👍

  • NordVPN offers discounts year-around, I can say "almost free" and many people promote it on youtube and through various affiliate marketing. I wonder how this VPN service make money? As long as you use its VPN services, all your online personal information passes through it services

  • Not sure if it tracked properly, didn't fully complete properly andfroze up when it asked me to download the app… will wait and see what happens

    • It tracked!

  • Got $125.15 cashback in account. Shows $126.5 in Bankwest account. 🤔

Just if anyone is wondering if gmail aliases work, ie [email protected] (normal) youremail+alias@gmail.com (the alias email is when you simply put "+" after your normal email and any other number/letter combo so in this case "+alias".

I used my normal email address which currently has an active nordvpn account (which i claimed a CR cashback on successfully), account expires in a couple of weeks, i used my that email and added the alias +vpn at the end so it myemail+vpn@gmail.com

Nord recognized this as new email, new account, with no connection to my current sub.
Purchase was done using Cali/US tax state so no GST purchase amount $80.73USD, paid using paypal (but stuffed up and forgot to select to have my card issuer rates, so paypal rates used) $126.50AUD, purchase has at 10:55am

At 12:16pm got confirmation email from CR that cashback has been tracked for $87.3USD, cashback amount is $125.15 AUD

Not 105%, more like 98.93% probably due to conversion rates (thanks PayPal) but still happy with that, this is my 2nd sub to NordVPN and happy to pay $1.35 for a 2 year sub. even full price is worth it , very satisfied with it, yeah a few issues here and there but nothing too complicated to work around

    • Does placing/removing a . register as a different email too? ([email protected] is different to your odriginal email without a dot?)

      • in theory it should but i dont know because i havent tried it

    • No, cashrewards just hasn't calculated the price paid has no tax. They will always assume there's a tax/GST component. You have to send a support message to rectify.

    • Solid of you to lay out what you did and your experience/personal-process over paragraphs.

My concern with that though is that CR would end up denying it down the track. I've had bullshit cashback rejects(after pending for some time) on purchased items that were clearly eligible but they managed to associate the item(s) with other categories.

Though, that might have been because it was a larger purchase.

  • Hi

Can anyone suggest if this or Pure VPN is better ? Looking at US and Indian servers.

    Thank you!

    • This is better, at least for US servers. NordVPN doesn't have Indian servers anymore.

  • Did it through the app and it hasn't tracked the purchase

    • Same… purchased on Friday night and still nothing… never had an account before..

  • +1

Why when I select the ‘standard’ plan that on the selection screen it says $80.73 price, but after it takes me to the payment page for that plan the pricing changes to $102.33 without GST?!
Not sure what I’m doing wrong.

    • Same

    • If I go in via Shopback or the regular website (not via cashback app) then the pricing is fine - so guessing this is a Cashrewards issue :/

    • same here.
I still proceeded the payment and will wait and see the how much tracked.
If the gap is over $2, I will cancel it in 30 days.

      • +1

        160.35 paid,158.36 tracked. 1.99 for 2 years!

  • Is it gone already
