I enquired about my order via the chat on Jaycar as I placed it with delivery. Heres what they said. -
Unfortunately we ran out of stock of the GH2036 and they are no longer being manufactured. We did have close to 2000 and unfortunately our website allowed more orders to be placed as it does not read a real time stock level, it reads the stock levels at the end of each day.

So I rang them and the lady said they are trying to find a resolution - I said its been a week with no communication and its just over 3 weeks to Christmas.
She said they are offering refunds I said no thanks I need the fridge as I have a trip booked for the weekend of
the 9th Dec.Pretty useless on the phone. So lets see.
thanks for the update.. yeah the "oh well have a refund" option is what worries me too, as i also have a trip booked in mid-Dec! would def prefer an alternative unit….
@swampson: Which car do you have? They offered me a 95L, which is 20cm longer and 10cm higher. Worried that it wont fit in my car
@Averell: Yeah I just got offer for 95L as well.. I've no context of the unit size.. so not sure about car pick up!
It'll be going in my camper trailer for the long run anyway.

unfortunately you are 1 of 200 customers that are in the same boat here….
the situation: A system error over committed to our customers. Our Website reads stock levels but does not have the smarts to read the stock already allocated to orders and being processed before dispatching. So the reading is not in real time. 220 GH2036 were in progress (picked, packed, labelled) the website has allowed more than 200 customers to experience exactly what you are right now. All I can do is apologize at this stage.
I have escalated to a national level of management to provide the 200 odd customers with alternatives to fulfil these orders. Management are still reviewing 8-9 suggestions provided in an executive meeting
I am awaiting direction from management on what options/alternatives I can provide to these customers.
that's an impressive level of detail the chat agent provided .. i wonder if they were meant to!
You'd imagine to protect the outcome and their decision, they'd just say "we are investigating'.. just in case some top brass suddenly decides to walk back all options, except for the crappiest one…
Will see how it pans out.i believe the person i am talking too is actively involved, i am also not posting everything they have given me.

I've received the same. It looks to be a slightly better product (subjective), i'm thinking of getting it & possibly attaching some mover wheels or getting a dolly to move it. Thoughts if anyone else has done something similar with their esky/cooler?
yeah hard to put the specs side by side, diff weight, dimensions a little different too, slightly higher power use.
some specs listed on 2042 but not on 2038 (had to dig a big in the PDF to make sure 2038 had cigarette lighter plug)I got the same offer and after much debate in my head, I think it might be a blessing in disguise.
The versatility of being able to remove the divider and make it one big zone could come in very handy.. particularly for bigger stuff obviously.
And if you do use it as a freezer on one side and fridge on the other.. was thinking to modify a lid off one of the polystyrene cooler boxes to cover the freezer side to trap the cold in if it’s being frequently opened to get drinks etc (being the single lid)
i've thought the same thing, and have now replied to them requesting if they can offer GH2042 instead - we'll see. If not, oh well.

ThanksI've picked-up 75litre from the store today. The store person told im lucky to get as there were many customers were got impacted due to OOS.
Its working absolutely fine and did a little test run with my EVAKOOL 55Litre and its quicker than i thought reaching the subzero temperature. Its slightly bigger than imagined but it just fits my car with about an inch left to close the door.I've received the offer for the GH2038 95L fridge instead. More than happy with that as it's mainly going to be used in the house on a day to day basis, with our current 50L Dometic fridge getting moved into the back of the ute permanently instead of just for camping trips.
Will also be handy having more room for when we do longer camping trips. Great work Jaycar :)
Are these fridge/freezers frost free ?.. the ad/video says `no ice' so I assume it is ?

I bought on ebay and it hadn't been shipped yet and I'd not received any communication. I called up and they've swapped for a 95L, so it works for ebay purchases too, but you might have to call.

Got the GH2080. Decided to take the display model that hadn’t been turned on. Otherwise, I’d have to wait for delivery again. Using it away this weekend. So far so good.
I was offered the GH2042 but still on the fence since its so different than the GH2036. Anyone else gotten one of these? Wondering if I should see if they can offer something different.

Got my 95lt replacement. Now to find a use for it
finally got confirmation they will send me GH2038 - i had asked for GH2042 but now they said no stock of that either as too many other people asked for it instead! oh well.
finally got my 95L delivered - over all, it seems great .. but .. is anyone else's periodically making a high pitched whining sound?
Had it running for couple days, no problem, but then i noticed it is either : silent (set temperature has been achieved, makes sense), or low hum (assuming usual operation, compressor, whatever) .. but during that low hum it will gradually get a louder whining for a couple seconds, then it will fade back to the usual low hum… 15seconds later it will slowly get louder whining, then fade back to low hum again. It doesnt sound "right" to me?
Not able to find much doco or info on that being a reported prob, so thought i'd ask here before contacting Jaycar or BM….
