If you are a DIYer and think about install doors by yourself, this kit will save you over thoundsands of dollars.

I was quoted by local tradie for each door's installation fee is $200 (solid timber), and I do have 10 doors. You can do the maths by yourself.

Very easy to install and super accurate as well.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2023

How does it differ from something like this?.

    What makes it worth $426?

That Ryobi kit doesn't include the template following router bit. So add maybe $50 if you don't have one already. Still a lot cheaper than OP'slisting though. That said, if you're doing a LOT of doors, then the Ryobi will come a distant second. Most houses don't have enough doors to warrant getting the nicer jig.

Top left of the template is the router bit - both that and the self centering drill are included and stored onboard.
Would be a huge cost for what is basically just a bit of plastic if it didn't include that.

        • It is rather well hidden isn't it? OP's but of plastic is even more expensive 😏

As a DIYer why do I need to spend hundreds of dollars on this, when all I need is a knife, a small straight edge or square, hammer, a chisel and a drill?

    This seems absolutely bonkers

Straight edge/square? Here's me being a cheap bastard and just using the hinge itself and marking the outline with the chisel.

  • Seems incredibly over priced for a jig and bits.
Search eBay for door hanging jig for options around $50

  • I can how2math but can an Ozbargainer work out why I need this

    • Like any item on here, if you can't work out why then you don't need it. Not every post needs to be something needed by everyone, or even anyone.
