  • And here's me about to spend 1000 on a bloody doona, what a bargain, thanks OP

    • +1

      Hi,
Not a problem, This is the lowest price we ever had on this range. Great bargain considering the quality of quilt.
      Thank You

  • Bought one. Thanks

  • Hmm seems like lately there are similar price drop if searching around for 90% hungarian goose down quilt, what makes this particular product better than others on the market?

    • Hi, Please send me a link to compare?
      Thank You

        • +1

          First time posting.

The difference is the amount of fill (not just the percentage of type of film) - which makes a big difference.

I regret buying that one. It weighs about 1k for a King. The one OP posted is 700gsm which weighs about 3kg and I presume would feel warmer.

Hi, Thanks for providing the link
Hi, John Cotton Quilt got 100% cotton jacquard cover, 410 Thread count, it is important to have high thread count down proof casing in order to prevent down escaping, lower thread count casing starts weakening over time with multiple washes and down starts escaping, it won't be the case with this quilt.
The one in the link got 290TC cotton cover,
Also John Cotton Quilt 700 Fill rating, one in the link doesn't state fill rating,

Cause of its high quality sells in David Jones, please find below link

          Thank You

          Thank You

          • @Ron1977: Thank you for clarifying, do you happen to have the weight count of the quilt for queen size?

            • +1

              @Tbargain12: Hi,
No worries, not at the moment, we can update the fill weight tomorrow., but I can assure John Cotton Quilt is lot better in terms of Quality & Warmth, we used to sell Snuggledown as well, I know that product very well!

              Thank You

              • @Ron1977: thanks for that, would you be able to update on the weight?

  • I guess it is a bit too warm for Brizzie?

    • +1

Yes it would be, it is ideal for coldest winter months. It is a light weight Luxury. It terms of quality & warmth don't see any match with it Australia.
      Thank You

    • Depends, I have a very similar one that I use all year round in Brisbane, absolutely love it. In winter I have it with a thinner silk filled quilt.
Our house is drafty though, depends if your room is hot or not

Ethically sourced feathers/down? Couldn’t find it mentioned in the ad.

It is worth spending a bit more to get a good Doona. You are going to have it for years.

I can’t comment on whether these are good doonas because I haven’t bought from this company.

I think this is the same one through Tontine for comparison. They are more expensive.

    • Also waiting to hear if it's ethically sourced down please.
      Can't find anything online.
Made in China is all I could find

      • +1

Hi, Yes Ethically sourced down, Big departmental stores won't sell a down quilt if it is not ethically sourced, all Down Quilts under John cotton brands are ethically sourced.

        Thank you

      • Please note on it states Ehtically sourced.
Also tested by IDFL: IDFL performs all major down and feather quality assurance services including testing raw and washed materials and finished products, collecting samples from factories or retail stores, inspecting finished products and consulting on testing and labeling standards.

  • is this the quilt to get right now for the price for all those like me who know s*** about this stuff.. About to buy a king bed so need bigger quilt…..

    • In my opinion i dont think you could get anything better for anywhere near the price. 700 loft down is a sign of quality… not the best, but vey good all the same. Can't speak to the quality of the cover as thread count is only part of the equation.

My only criticism is the box construction that doesnt allow you to move the down around to suit temperture requirements. Eg warmer weather or different partner sleeping tempertures.

  • Does it stink? I bought one from a different brand on Amazon and it stinks very much after airing for more than 2 weeks that I had to return it.

Does the casing material make very loud noise when you move?

    • Hi, It doesn't stink, they are washed and heat treated, Normally Australian made down quilts which are freshly made will have bit down smell, it is natural down fibre smell & starts disappearing within two weeks once you start using it. It's cotton casing is soft doesn't make noise.
      Thank You

    • so which one is actually better??

      • +1

I think the one in the original post would be warmer. But i'd suggest googling them cause other stores sell these around LuxeBedding's discounted price with the eBay code all the time. It would be an actual deal if the above was marked down to $280 without the 22% code. I'd rather buy from a store that has their price marked that low in the first place without needing to apply eBay codes.
