GoPro Hero12 Black $487 + $5 Delivery ($0 C&C) @ The Good Guys via eBay

460
HGTNOV

I posted this in a comment earlier today, but thought worthy of its own post. Only about the second time I have posted a deal in many years so hopefully I have done it right).

GoPro Hero12 current available for $487 (with coupon applied) via eBay Goodguys (+ $5 postage). Seems like a good price compared to the GoPro11 deals at the moment.

I picked up from store yesterday (didn’t want to risk loosing in the post).

This is a great deal for a Gopro hero 12. Thanks Sarah!

With that said after owning a go pro 3, 5 and 9, I won't be buying this as there are just too many problems with go pros - from over heating, to lagging, to just dieing altogether. When they work they are great, but I'd say at least 1/3 times I have issues.

About to buy a DJI Osmo Action 4 after reading and watching many reviews vs go pro. Hopefully I have better luck with it.

I've had 1, 2 ,3, 5, 8, 10… Loved the old 1 then 2, the 3 and 5 weren't great, I found the 8 a bit of a dog, I dont think the processor was good enough to handle all the features, stabilization and such, constant lockups and such, I believe the 9 was much the same as the 8…

The 10 has been great, it has the newer processor, 100's of hours of recording and she's never given me any issues… People do complain about overheating but I've never had an issue despite recording almost constantly for 8 hour days on the motorbike out in the deserts and such… I only record at 4K-50fps with stabilization, boost off, and voice, wifi, gps all off, though…

I suspect the overheating issues come in to play if you're trying to max out every feature at the same time…

I'm on the 11 with pretty much all features on and have had no overheating issues. I believe having the folding fingers out helps with the cooling.

    • I have a Hero 4 and echo these comments. It had build quality issues and GoPro removed key features from their software as the newer models came out, making my model unable to be fully utilised with their software. I won’t be buying a GoPro in the foreseeable future; I’ll look elsewhere.

I notice TGG also have the 10 Black at $366 with ebay plus:
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GoPro-Hero10-Black-CHDHX-101-RW-…

This other seller has the 12 Black at $467 with plus, but OP's TGG deal with C&C is probably a safer bet with local easy warranty and such:

(Doing my best to resist, lol, but I'm heading to NZ next Sunday, so tempted to upgrade my 10 to a 12 from TGG, and claim back the GST at the port)

I ordered one of those $467 ones from Camera House on Wednesday, had received it by Friday. BTW, Camera House is also a nationwide chain of physical stores much like Good Guys, though obviously not as big a company. They're not just an online seller.

      • I suspected the 'Camera House' might be the physical store company but I wasn't sure.. thanks :)

For what its worth I reached out to customer support at CameraHouse regarding issues/replacements/repairs etc. and this is what they replied with:

Ebay orders come to our Head Office, if there are any issues with your product, we will deal with you directly to sort it out.

Which tbh doesn't really say much, I guess the physical stores won't be a factor.

        • I figured that would be the case, and their ebay terms are a little dodgy, their terms make it sound like they may be a nightmare to deal with for a warranty claim…

Also, I needed one this week so I can claim back the GST next weekend, and Camera House were an extra $15 for Express shipping, so I just paid the $487 for C&C with The Good Guys Ebay… I ordered it at 8:33am, they sent the 'pickup' SMS at 8.55am, 5 mins before the store opened…

(I purchased my Hero 8 Black from TGG ebay also, I wandered into the store and had it replaced when it was a little over 12 months old, no issues, all very easy)…

Camera house is a large camera retail outlet with multiple physical stores.

      • I notice they don't offer C&C for eBay purchases, so I assume you wouldn't be able to deal with your local store for a return or warranty claim?..

        Their eBay listing also states:
Please contact the manufacturer for ALL warranty claims
Which seems dodgy !, isn't that deceptive and against ACL ?

    GG is dodgy

    • In what way?

Gopro Hero 11 at $456 a better buy?
Gain a few features on the hero 12 but losing out on GPS?

Hard to say as I can't decide!

    • +3

Will you actually use the GPS?, I've ALWAYS kept it turned off to conserve battery life..

      • +1

It's good to have as I use it for track and sometimes my lap timer gps days isnt syncing properly so nice to have a back up option

I got this as a gift a few weeks ago. I signed up to their unlimited cloud service on their Quik app, via my Turkish Apple ID and it was $7 a year. Totally worth it for me considering it’s about $70 aud otherwise. Only used my go pro a few times but loving it so far.

At this price I’d consider it vs the insta360 ace pro which I was about to preorder

At about $300 more. Not even close.

  • I have the 12. It works well. It does overheat if not moving at 4k after about 40 mins or so.

GoPro Dual Battery Charger + 2 Enduro Batteries = $74 (with Plus from Ryda)

I ended up grabbing a 12 from TGG, C&C… FYI, the Tax Invoice is for the full amount, so $49.73 GST back for anyone doing a TRS-GST claim..

    Goods Dispatched - $547.00
    Includes GST - $49.73

So it will end up costing about $437 after GST back…
