used to be cheap and guarantee to beat any quote by 5%.

They used to advertise ad nauseum on the radio, but i see now they are owned by Slater & Gordon, so I'm not sure what their fees are like.

    Worth a call.

  • I have recently bought a property in GC and I used

    Leonie Dixon
    CSM CONVEYANCING
A Division of Campbell J Staines & Mellifont Solicitors
6/82 City Road BEENLEIGH QLD Australia 4207
    P (07) 38072233 F (07) 38073841
    E ldixon.csm(@)westnet(.)com(.)au

She charged me A$1100 with GST

I am very happy with the service

  • We recently used River City Conveyancing, and wouldn't recommend them.

Conveyancing works would have been the cheapest if our purchase was a straight-forward one, but it was not, and before we'd established that it wasn't going to be straightforward, they were very helpful. They're probably the first place I'd be going next time we need one.

    • Someone recommended River City to us and we've put them on the contract we recently signed.
Did something go wrong with your purchase? Please let me know so I can watch out.

      • we used River City Conveyancing recently and found them to be excellent. Our conveyance went smoothly and settled on time and what they quoted me was exactly what they charged me (which was a nice surprise considering I used conveyancing works in the past and their final bill is NEVER what they actually quote you!) I found they answered my emails and phone calls quickly and were very patient with me when i had trouble understanding something. I would highly recommend them.

        • actually i went to use them again recently and found out the girl i used has now moved to Just Us Lawyers at Wilston. so i tracked her down and used her again. same great service and extremely affordable considering they are lawyers not just conveyancers. highly recommended

  • I am using http://charterconveyancing.com/ right now to purchase property in GC. Things seems to be going well. Brad is very helpful so far.

  • I am also looking for a good conveyancing service but in Melbourne.

Would anyone recommend Slater & Gordon in Melbourne?

    Sorry to hijack this thread.

  • Thanks all for the reply.

I am using a service which my friend recommend me.

    They are charging around 1000$.

I would have to wait and see how's their service.

  • My financial adviser put me on to a lawyer to do my conveyancing. $3700 later… I was never given a fixed price or even an estimate. The true costs weren't confirmed until after settlement (I overpaid to cover contingency as some costs weren't confirmed). I was too ignorant and accepted the "it will be about $1500, noone pays more than $2000" when I queried my financial adviser (after being given a an overcomplicated standard schedule of fees from the lawyer - most of which was not applicable to my settlement).

Even putting the cost aside, the experience was terrible. My unit nearly didn't settle because my lawyer didn't confirm settlement with my lender (St. George) until the last minute. The day before settlement I was also told "You're short $x" which I later found out to be due to my lawyer including his conveyancing costs in my settlement fees (should have been invoiced and paid later) and he mixed up my FHOG with the old scheme ($15k vs $7k)- cheers for the undue stress buddy.

I did complain about the fees and even tried to get someone independently review them, but that didn't really head anywhere.

This thread hasn't been updated in a while but I thought I would share the experience.

    • omg what a ripoff! we used River City Conveyancing and they only charged us $880 which included the gst. Searches cost extra of course but we just ordered their basic package and it only cost us $215.00. So all up they only billed me $1095.00. We did have to pay them 2 days before settlement but i think thats pretty normal. I have bought and sold a few properties now and all solicitors or conveyancers insisted that we pay them on, or a couple of days before settlement. I thought that was very reasonable and they didnt ask me for any money 'up front' for the searches or anything. If you use River City ask for Shannon or Donna (i think thats her manager). Shannon was really lovely and couldnt be more helpful and Donna really saved our asses by picking up a few critical points in the contract before we signed it.

      • i just posted similar comment above, but i chased down donna recently when we were buying and selling again and shes moved from River City. but thank god for google i tracked her down and found her at Just Us Lawyers Wilston….so happy, she hasn't changed, great prices, great service and always seemed happy when i rang her (though im sure i was annoying a lot of the time LOL!). highly recommended her

  • I am also looking for a good conveyancing service but in Sydney/Parramatta.

    Any recommendations?

  • Thanks helloworld1
