OzBargain Go to for POE IP Cameras

Hi all, looking for feedback on OzBargain's go-to for POE IP Cameras for the Brand and where to buy plus any things to consider? Tips & Tricks. It would be a brand-new system, so needs an NVR.

Also, the NVR would be in the house with a few cameras on the garage/shed which have network connectivity. One via Ethernet and the other via Ubiquiti AirMax Nanostation P2P link with a POE Cisco Network Switch in the Garage + House. No need to necessarily be 4K or anything like that and would probably be about 8 camera system.

I've seen a lot like Reolink in the past. Is that what most recommend? What about Hikvision?

  • I have 8x 4K hikvision cameras connected to a 16 channel NVR with a 12tb hdd the recordings last 30+ days.
4x camera set to always record, the other 4 record on movement.

    dahua or hikvision.

  • I hate the Hikvision NVR with a passion.

It's slow, scrubbing through video sucks (especially when you're asked to find something that happened "Somewhere between 10pm and 6am") and it's very picky about what browsers it works with.

That being said, the Hikvision Cameras are really solid. I'm in the process of rebuilding my NVR onto one of the refurb computers from a previous deal on here and using software for it instead (tossing up between AgentDVR/BlueIris/Frigate).

    I bought these Reolink Cameras/NVR.

They are fantastic. The NVR is great - althought 2TB only stores about 8 days. I will upgrade the HDD at some point. For now it is fine. I also got a door bell and it all works seemlessly in the app.

  • 100% Reolink every day of the week. Cheap (relative to the competition), great quality video and hardware, all data stays local and a decent mobile app.
Heck you can get a full dual camera PTZ camera for under $200 on their official AliExpress store during Black Friday. That’s wild (Reolink TrackMix)

Look at the YouTube channel ‘The Hook Up’ for a tonne of different camera reviews & comparisons.

No camera is good at night in the cheaper home category, so if you’re specifically looking for night time clarity and performance, get something with spotlights or something super expensive.

Make it Reolink, you won’t regret it. And look up a bunch of reviews.

    • Oh yeh, the small Reolink NVR says it has a max capacity of like 8TB or something - plenty of people have thrown 12TB/16TB drives in it no worries though

  • dahua or hikvision or reolink. Pick one that meets your price point.

  • Outdoors: 4 hikvisin 4k cameras connected to surveillance station on a synology nas. I have a hikvision nvr but retired it as it was too clunky and notifications stopped working for no apparent reason.

    Indoors: Arlo Pros.

  • Hikvision, controlled by BlueIris for recording and remote viewing, with the cameras in their on segregated subnet and blocked off from internet access.

Nice hardware, but I don't trust the company further than I could throw a box of cameras.

Anyone have thoughts on tp-link vigi series of cameras?
