I'm also in Sydney (Endeavour) with Globird and got the email yesterday. New rates are different to yours though:
Daily charge is $0.949
First 20kwh per day $0.37 per kwh
Above that $0.41 per kwh
Shopping around there are better deals, although as none seem to offer locked-in rates switching may only be beneficial for a brief period.
I'm Sydney (Endeavour) and nothing received as yet.
No email but in Vic (Citipower) I'm paying $1.144 Daily charge, and $0.2937 per kWh. I've done the Vic Govt comparison a few times, they don't come anywhere near the cheapest any more. I need to pick someone else and move as basically I'm being ripped off. What complicates it is we also have Gas.

Use different companies for Power + Gas. I used Energy Aus for Power and then AGL for my Gas. Combining doesn't always save you $$$$
I wish I could get those prices in VIC (maybe not the peak rate, that seems very high!) ! I am on $1.32 per day and then 45c per kWh for peak and 26c per kWh for off peak.
Actual costs for electricity will vary by area so it's not helpful as a comparison to tell us your $/c cost. You need to tell us your % increase.
For example, my daily charge is $0.82, while my parents, who live out in the country, pay $1.62.

Globird new rates are a rippoff
There really don't seem to be any. I had a look because prices are expected to go up in 2024. Origin has a "12 month contract term", but it's a variable rate anyway.
i've checked that for me Momentum and Red Energy are the cheapest.
Anyone knows if they might also increase their current rates in January?
I'm just thinking if I should move ASAP or wait until January.
Same, not sure what I should do, last time globird came out with better pricing after the changes…

Red Energy has a rate lock until Jun 2024
From my area, it's cheaper than GloBirds new rates.
Do all of their plans have a rate lock? Looking on their website and it only shows the Red Fixed Saver plan that has fixed rates, but the rates are a lot more expensive compared to their other plans (Living Energy Saver).
You're most likely right, prob best to call them and see if they have any phone only offers / price beat or price lock with other plans

When swapping energy providers, CALL THEM and make sure they apply it from the NEXT meter read, not the PAST meter read.

Got mine and I am changing to Dodo (Endeavour Energy NSW - western suburbs of Sydney):
From 23.87c/kWh to 33.22kWh
From 95.7 to 101.2 per day Supply Charge
It is a 39% increase in the kWh charge and a 6% increase on the Supply Charge.
Time to get solar now.
There's also the possibility of moving to something like Amber and doing some serious energy management if the wholesale price goes >50c/kWH
My peak rate went up 80%!
Shoulder and off peak 30%
Gas also up around 25-30%
My electricity and gas also went up with Globird in QLD. Got a call from Origin (was with them previously) and they offered me 19% off the reference price on both (using Globird’s price increase as a selling point, I didn’t mention them) + a $100 welcome credit, walked through all of the different daily supply charges and rates and it logically made sense to go back to them with the 12 month discount.

Got the email for power and gas (gas usage going up almost 50%!) and switched away the next day.
In (North West) Sydney
Electricity, switched to Dodo. Lowest prices in my area.
Gas, switched to CovaU. Worked out as best price for our usage (1,580MJ/month). Use referral code from ozbargain for $50 off.
Dodo looks good for me too, however gas rates Globird seem to have the best so far.
My usage is not high, so the daily supply charge plays more of a factor
You should be shopping around and switching or negotiating every year, anyway. GloBird just seems like a particuarly steep increase for existing customers… but if you switch away for a year, come back you'll probably get the better rates. You could also call and ask.
Just advised red energy to call me back to see if they can do a bit better than their online rates, either way, im swtiching.

Peak Anytime balance: $0.3685 to $0.4928
Solar feed-in unchanged at $0.44
I sent them an email saying I only switched to them 3 months ago and now my rates are going up 33%.
They came back with an alternative "better offer" of:

Solar feed-in unchanged at $0.44
So essentially the same crap deal just split a fraction different.
Looks like I'm changing again. Is there any point making a complaint to some kind of regulator? It seems shonky sucking you in to switch then 3 months later a massive price increase.
I thought they publicly mentioned that they're holding the price until Jan 2024? At least when I switched 3+ months ago i was already aware that they're going to increase the rate on Jan 2024.
At that time (around mid year) most other energy companies had already increased the rates
I'm now with Dodo but I don't like that the bill you every 3 months instead of monthly like Globird. I also could not get them to use my meter read as the final meter read so the final bill I paid Globird was incorrect.
RIP to anyone that switch out of globird, I switch to redenergy but luckily there was an issue with transfer after 1.5 months
globird came out with new plans a out a week ago for gas! They are the cheapest by far!

That really depends on your area. my email had a daily charge of 85ish c and 35ish /kw
and yes time for a change regardless.
