Switched to Superloop - Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2

I just switched to Superloop internet after reading an older 2021 post here that said no changes are needed to the modem - just switch it off and on again. Still not able access wifi on my MB Pro though it’s working fine on my iPhone 11. Optus is my phone carrier and I’m in a grey spot that cycles between 3G and 4G so it’s hard to maintain a usable hotspot.

Superloop confirmed connection is fine but were otherwise unhelpful and I haven’t got an Ethernet cable for the laptop which they wanted me to try.

When I look at my internet settings on the MB Pro the modem name is locked.

Any clues out there? I’d like to avoid purchase of yet another modem if it’s possible. TIA

  • What happens when you select the wifi network on your MBP?

  • Have you input the Wi-Fi password on the MBP and restarted the MBP?

  • are you in the correct ntd port?

No changes are needed to the smart modem for FTTP/FTTC/HFC connections. Try turning everything off (NBN Modem/Smart Modem) and turn it back on.

But are you on FTTN/FTTB? If so, you do need to login to the Smart modem and change the username/password to match your superloop login details. Then give it a reboot.

    • Superloop use IPoE for all nbn types.

      • Well there you go. Only used them on FTTN, so easy fix for the OP then. Login to the modem and change their login details.
