Tefal GV7470 Steam Station Iron $239.95 (RRP $439.95) - David Jones

80

Hi Guys,
I was just at David Jones looking to buy a steam iron.
Found this Tefal GV7470 for 239.95. Its 200 off retail and the cheapest online is 267 or so.
Pretty good deal for this kind of unit.
They had about 4 left in the Sydney city store.
Good option if you dont want to fork out nearly 600 for a laurastar.

Thanks

    • not bad actually. i ended up buying the posted version because it self cleans which i found a huge problem with my previous steam iron.

    • This is the same unit 2nds World were selling for $75 refurb. I bought one and it's great. Review says someone paid $129 from HN for it, too.

  • Probably the typical question, but what are the advantages of this type of iron over a regular steam iron? Is it quicker? Irons better? Shoots steam at the clothes and makes them un-wrinkle?

Continuous high rate of steam means you can iron faster and better. Plus you don't have to add water as often and the iron is lighter.

      • Cool, thanks for that, will go check it out in store!

Absolutely blasts through hard to iron cotton shirts. Creases literally melt away.

I like to hold it to blow off some steam. Sometimes I think it would make a great modded flame-thrower if you filled it up with accelerant.

      That's right, literally.

  • sorry but i have the same question as frogduck. tempted to put up a link for a $20 iron…

  • +1

Based on what the wife is saying…they work much faster with the steam, they do get the wrinkles out much better and you don't need to fill up often due to the tank.
Our one broke and we (she) was using a regular iron we borrowed from the parents and nearly pulled her hair out. What usually takes 20min, took an hour.

    • Thanks for this reply too :)

  • Great Mother's Day pressie…thanks.

  • Does one continue to put Distilled Water in these?

    • Recommended for all irons to reduce the amount of calcium build up inside the iron, but self cleaning should help out a bit with this

      • Good self-cleaning irons are fine with tap water unless you have really harsh water

    • The manual says: "Your appliance has been designed to function using untreated tap water. If your water is very hard, we recommend you use a mix of 50% untreated tap water and 50% distilled water available in most shops."
