  • Good price!

  • Good one OP. Got one

  • Anybody have these? I've got some AKG N700's that I've used for the last 5 or so years. Are these low latency and reasonable for gaming?

    • +3

I have them, wouldn't really recommend for gaming - the sound is decent and the microphone is passable so I find them fine for travel and work though.

Unfortunately they're quite uncomfortable, and being bluetooth only means the audio quality drops a lot whenever you use voice, so gaming on discord is a miserable experience. No clue about latency, never been able to tolerate them while gaming for long enough to be able to tell.

      • With my current headphones I disable the mic and use the audio by itself and a dedicate microphone. When using the mic + audio it's a horrible experience as you've described.

I can only assume that a dedicated audio experience is much better - is there much lag in starting/unpausing a song and it playing?

        • Feels instant to me.

    • If what you're using has aptX LL as a supported codec, latency will be incredibly low and absolutely fine for gaming as long as it isn't a game where you need to listen to sound and react instantly like FPS's. The other codecs aren't exactly low latency and are very apparent when gaming so unless you can utilize the aptX LL codec, it's not really worth it. It does also come with a 2.5mm to 3.5mm jack so you can turn it into a wired headphone if needed.

I personally don't have these and have really only heard about it from someone that does video editing with them but it's nothing too outstanding, their opinion was that it was just very normal, nothing special about the sound or anything like that. They just got it because there aren't many aptX LL headphones from big name brands being made anymore.

      • If you plug in the jack, does it disable the bluetooth? Interested due to bluetooth hacking and want to understand if they can still hit the bluetooth?

        • +2

According to the manual, it does disable it. I mean it doesn't use the internal battery anymore when plugged in with the jack so in theory it should.

The n700 is so much better its not even close. Replace the earpads on them if you can and keep using them!

  • This vs XM4?

  • Funny that Alexa compatible is cheaper than non compatible version?

    • +7

Active hearing. They pay you for being a product.

      • Do you really think there is a hardware difference between the two?

    • Its just firmware, the alexa version also has google assistant and probably siri too.

    • Alexa backed by Amazon thing

  • +12

I would avoid these. I have the original 4.50 and they're just uncomfortable. The ear cups are a bit too small such that they are sort of over-ears, but sort of on-ears, and they have significant clamping force.

    • +2

The are definitely more an on-ear than over-ear but decent for the money. imo.

    • +1

I second that. these are so uncomfortable I don't know how anyone uses them for prolonged periods of time

also the sound is meh. I had these twice. first I got them myself to try them out and literally gave them away 2 weeks later. then a year after my better half got them without asking me first, and I got to experience them again just in case to see if something changed.

      nothing changed

she's using them however, but smaller head and ears probably are okay-ish

      • Perfect for my use case, got them for the teens and no complaints

  • How do these compare to the Sennheiser HD 450 BT?

    • Nothing is different really, 450SE is just Amazon's version which is Alexa compatible, hence why it's cheaper than the BT version if bought on Amazon.

  • +1

Got big ears so probably not

  • +3

Great price for these. I bought them for $149 a year ago.

I'm pretty happy with them, but can also vouch for them not being the most comfortable for larger ears.

Noise cancelling is average but the sound quality is quite good for the price. My wife has them and her small ears fit well inside the earcup. I have an old set of Bose QC35 that have better noise cancelling but sound is not as good as Sennheiser ones. The battery life is very good but most of the newer headphones are similar these days.

  • I just tested the sound of 450BT one at jbhifi and the bass quality is not good.

  • These fit awfully on my head. super small earcups and pads and places strain on the crown of my head. not to mention they sound absolutely awful. Earpads break down within 1 year and exposes the foam.
