  • Wonder how this stacks up against the hyperboom for over double the price

    • Could always try it and return it if you aren't satisfied.

No mention of power output, which is never a good sign.

A quick and dirty power comparison vs the Soundcore Motion+ turns out to be easy.

The GIG XL has 30% less battery capacity and 30% shorter run time. Which suggests about the same average output power. And probably similar peak - 30W or so.

Which is not great considering the size or price.

Something like the Soundcore Boom Plus is a much better deal IMO. 80W, waterproof, 20 hour run time. On sale for $179 currently. (No party lights, and not as easy to input a wired mic)

    • usually the output power can be roughly determined by the wattage of the power adapter.

in the GIG XL the power adapter is built-in and on the back it's input is rated at 60w.

also with all bigger bluetooth speakers (such as JBL partybox/Sony XP series) most of the time the max power rating is with the speaker plugged into the wall. running on battery output power is typically slightly less.

I agree the Motion Boom Plus is better value. but the older Motion Boom has been as low as $60 in the past so I think the Motion Boom Plus price can drop a bit more.
