OzBargain's Recommendations to Track Prices / Price History ?

Well other than OzBargain posts itself that is !

PriceHipster No Longer Works for Coles (recently?), and woolies has been long missing from there.
Is this a timely conspiracy to prevent people from looking prices history, lols ?

I want to know what are your top recommendations for price tracking websites ? List your preferred apps / websites and what do you use to track it for.

Personally I prefer a web app over the mobile apps and have been sticking to PriceHipster for a long long time, now looking for other websites that track / alert price drops as well have ability to view price history.

Looking at this page for ideas now - may be will find something new in the comments.

[I thought a poll might be a good option for this question, but leaving it as a open question since the options might be too many and i assume use of multiple sites for different niches, also I am keen to hear about any new niches as well].

If I was CEO of Colesworth I'd change the website to stop price tracking too, before there's a royal commission into profiteering on essentials.

    • official findings summary: no obvious profiteering to be observed haha

Figured out how to query their prices in about 30 seconds, it's not at all protected. Unless they're going around poisoning the results or doing some heavy rate limiting, I don't think they did a technical solution when it came to shutting down pricehipster…

  • For frequent cycles, use your memory - Coles/Woolworths.

For bigger, less frequent cycles, drop a link on your bookmark bar and use that to go to the shop and you'll see price updates. E.g. Kogan dropped out of Pricehipster a long time ago. I wanted dip bars and Kogan's (which were similar to Decathlon) varied from $100+ to a new low of $40. You then have to use your judgement. Is this a really good price? Will it be sold out pronto? I thought it was a very good price and yes, it did sell out quickly.

Can use something like this for any web. Prob not ideal for just prices but it does work well.
