Why too good? It is an average one with reasonable price.

    • Can't seem to see any record on OzB of a price like this nor are any retailers online offering anything even slightly similar. Looks like a great deal to me.

$124.50 in February. A good brand. Should be ok for a small room in warm climates.

So you're telling me there's a chance it could be a deal.

      • Ok, got it. I more meant why too good. It is a good deal.

the real question is why did you get negged? nothing wrong with what you said.

I might get this if my delonghi don’t refuse to die. Good price. Just be mindful, gonna be hard to clean the exhaust (sorry bad english, not sure the word is). After several months, dust will build up.

    • Do you mean the filter? Looks to have a removable filter just under the handle for easy cleaning.

      • Not the filter (intake of humid air). But the outflow air - where the dry air comes out.

        • Ahh I see. Hopefully an electric air duster will do the trick for that.

        • Dust shouldn't build up at the exhaust end though?

    • Found Delonghi to be reliable, going strong well over ten years. Only the auto off float cracked. On bypassing that, it means I need to manually monitor the water level, emptying once per day, otherwise it will overflow.

      • Which model please kindly share

    Thanks OP, good deal!

  • I’ve got a desiccant model for our (cold) basement and it’s working well so far. Don’t believe the ratings unless you’re in ideal conditions for the compressor to work.

  • I want to buy a dehumidifier but cant make a decision on compressor or desiccant living in Melbourne.

    • The manufacturer suggests a desiccant dehumidifier because it apparently works better in cold weather.

    • Yes a desiccant works better in temps under 20c. At 16c a compressor dehumidifier will struggle without an additional heat source. Compressors work by reducing temps on a condenser plate - water vapour turns into liquid and drains down. At 16c the compressor struggles to drop temps further. A desiccant unit captures water in the desiccant chemical (like damp rid) irrespective of the ambient temp and then heats up the desiccant to extract the water. Desiccant units heat up the room much more than a compressor dehumidifier.

I used to work in dehumidification, desiccant is always better for moisture removal however they generally also add heat to the air in the regeneration process. So if you're in a warmer climate it's not ideal. They're also probably a fair bit more expensive as the desiccant itself is not cheap

      • They are also often louder and have lower moisture extraction for size/power of unit.

    • Do you want hot for summer (compressor) or winter (desiccant)?

    • desiccant
