eBay Seller Not Responding to My Messages for Undelivered Items

My siblings and I bought 2 boxes of chips (on 2 seperate eBay accounts) from the same eBay seller.

The 2 boxes didn’t arrive and I have been messaging the seller on the eBay app but no response from the seller. It has been almost 2 weeks now since I messaged the seller.

I have never had this problem before with an eBay seller. Does anyone know what’s the best course of action I could take?

Would really appreciate any help on this.

Thanks heaps!

Raise an item not received claim in eBay, go through the motions/wait times.

    • Ok thanks. Apart from potentially a long waiting time, are there anything else I need to keep an eye out in case the seller disputes it etc?

See if there is a tracking number involved? Last time I had an issue and raised it, eBay checked for tracking number. As none was provided they ask the seller to provide one. When they didn't respond, I was auto-refunded as they provided no tracking number to confirm delivery.

        • +1 I did the same for another item "in transit"

      • Potentially long wait time?

Firstly. it is not a crime for the seller not to respond and certainly not a case for a refund
Secondly. You cannot lodge a claim unless eBays last delivery date has past.
Thirdly. It is the Christmas period now when delivery times push out due to the massive increase in parcel deliveries. The evidence is that BOTH orders have not been delivered yet.

OP hasnt mentioned eBays deliver period so cant really give any advice other than CHILL OUT!
        AND What does tracking say?

You should go through: https://resolutioncentre.ebay.com.au/ and raise a formal case. Messages are not the way to do it formally.

  • What sort of chips?
    Potato,wood or gambling?

What were the feedback ratings like?
    Where is the seller located?
How long have they been a seller?

Boy that's low, in the scheme of things..
Sounds like you opted for cheaper VS better rating.
( Unless it was a rare item I had to have, I would never buy from a seller with lower than 98% Positive.)

What do the other ~8% of feed-backs say about late and non arrival?

        • I didn’t opted for the cheaper but opted for one of the first few sellers at the top of the scrolling list when I searched for the product.

But thanks, now I know 98% is a good threshold to compare.

Only reading the feedbacks now. Haha the ones which are negative feedback, all of them said they had the same issue with me.

            That's how they get ya.

@ilovefullprice: Tell us more about what chip brands , sizes of the boxes and how much $$$, that justifies doing it via ebay.

        • To be honest, every eBay seller has some level of risk. I personally wouldn't have thought this would've been a problem and every seller has to start somewhere.

This is where it comes in handy to purchase with Paypal or credit cards. So when you can't successfully win a dispute via eBay resolutions centre, you escalate further via your card provider or Paypal.

As other buyers had similar issues as you, I would recommend you to also leave your negative feedback. I very much dislike it when sellers sometimes resolve the issue with you, but asks you to give them a positive 5 star rating. By rating them about how you truly feel about them, it can help other prospective buyers avoid them or make the seller understand that they should do better.

        • Well at least 96%

92% rating is terrible. I won’t buy from anyone with less than 98.5%.

92% feedback? I once bought from a ebayer with 97% but that was a item that i just couldnt get anywhere normally i aim to buy from a seller with 99-100%.

Personally any ebayer with less than 95-96% should be viewed by ebay as a potential risk to ebays reputation.

Open and INR (Item Not Received) case with eBay and if the seller does not respond to the case then eBay will automatically refund your purchase price.

  • You got your answer but it's just now a long waiting game to raise a case through eBay resolution team.

  • When did you order the potato chips? Do you have the link to the listing?

  • Yea just open up a case on eBay, eBay will auto refund you after waiting if seller dont respond

Did the seller mention the use by or manufacture date?
(next thread, if they do arrive)

Jesus, check the feedback rating of this seller>

  • What's so special about the Smiths chips?

  • I assume that the seller is a dropshipper from Amazon or catch, and it is OOS on the other platform. Do you have a link to the item? And as others have suggested, raise a item not received case. If the seller isn't responding to your messages then they probably won't respond to that and you'll get a quick refund
