    Gone at the discount price

  • Looks like there are a few other Lonely Planet travel guides available at or around the same price of $19.90 (you can change format to paperback to narrow down further): https://www.amazon.com.au/stores/author/B00M9Y0CHQ/allbooks.

  • Are these books worth it given the amount of information available on YouTube and online these days?

    • IMHO not at all. LP doesn't really offer any information you can't get from a little googling.

    • the main benefit is having something you can chuck in the bag for some quick research while on your trip in my experience, although in fairness with cheap roaming thats not such a huge thing these days either. i hadnt bought any since the pandemic and grabbed a couple today but they might be the last i buy

I may be old school, and I traveled around Europe for over a year with one, plus trips to South America etc. I wholly recommend these and hope they never go out of print. When you’re arriving (backpacking) at a city or town with no accom booked or trying to book tomorrow nights accom before getting there, having a lonely planet is great for short listing or getting an idea of places. Plus there’s the planning of where to go, history, sights to see, how much they cost, why go, etc. All in one handy book. I can’t see how you and do the same in the same time with YouTube or any travel blogs or forums.
